Read the news in The Times of India - so sad...

"India, the world's child marriage capital, has once again failed its under-age brides.

The country has refused to sign the first-ever global resolution on early and forced marriage of children led by the UN.

The resolution was supported by a cross-regional group of over 107 countries, including almost all countries with high rates of child marriage"Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Chad, Guatemala, Honduras and Yemen."

TFS!!
indeed a very sad thing!!! Its a shame that we the progressive country cannot even assure that we will take steps to curb this evil and would make India a better place for girls.
whatever agends they make and promise to implement at home, to let down your country and people on an international platofrm is indeed very sad!!

They refused to sign because of pressure from our local netas. Most of them are from
Feudal village set up. Considerable number of them are goondas. What India s experiening s the
Perils of democeacy by people who have no real understanding of democracy and dont deserve it.
Most of the MLAs and Mps have village support. They will not do anything to jeopardise that.

Indian democracy is so fragile, they have to appease many self interest groups. India allows
Sharia law for muslims even though lot of educated muslims are against it. There have been
Some shocking judgements given to muslim women in divorce cases and rape cases
Just to appease the fundamentalist groups in them. The same way about child marriages
Prevalent among Hindus in Hindi Speaking belt of India, to appease the local village
Population for votes.govt is facing election soon.
Big issues are made about polygamy for ordinary people, but was it implemented on leaders
Like Karuna Nidhi?

Don't clip their wings! Don't clip their [girl's] wings...let them fly ... ..give them the same rights as sons...give them a chance to be a human being .MALALA --------------
-On one side we have Arundhati Bhattacharya [SBI ] Chanda Kochhar [ICICI ] Indra Nooyi [Pepci co ]...and on the other side ... illiteracy ... child marriage ..female foeticide...domestic violence ...high time to rectify our mistakes ! This is a failure...a failure at all levels...failure to protect our children ! Politicians...please don't let their lives end before it even begins !

Vote bank politics...! Once again , politicians ...law providers left us speechless with their insensitivity and arrogance ! A good head and a good heart are the need of the hour , a formidable combination... but alas...always in short supply in our country ! Society as a union... waiting for an able crusader...not a compulsive leader !

Friends, I did not post the news to bash the government. I do not think it is vote bank politics either. It is more to do with our society. Can any law, any agreement at international forums change the way our people think? There are laws against child marriages, dowry, domestic violence etc. Did they chang anything? If people do not obey the law, what can the government do? I felt sad because this is the reality of our society. We do not care for the law and when something goes wrong - we start blaming the government. The law-abiding people should spread the message- like if we get to know about a child marriage is going to happen in our neighbourhood - may be some maid's daughter etc. - we should try to stop it - to try to make the parents understand the bad effects of child marriage. Social evils like rape, child marriage, dowry, domestic violence etc. cannot be stopped without active participation from the people. Sadly, people are not interested to change themselves. I still remember the news I read sometimes ago - it was a case of horror (I will never call it honour) killing - the father was unapologetic - he said something like "mhari chhori thi, maine mar di, tujhe kya". I am sad about such reality of India. Can we do something to change it? May be a little effort from a number of people can change the way our people think about such things.
