An idyllic smile touched Anandi's lips as she thought about the last day. After all the trauma and pain Jagiya had made Shiv pass through, she could no longer gather the courage to forgive him another time. She abandoned him and his memories, and this time forever. Shiv had been too guilty for his hurting words for her and even did shed some silent tears when he was alone with her. She couldn't believe seeing a man of his disposition being so touchy and emotional but surely she felt every ounce of his pain penetrating her heart like a needle. It felt as if the heart did throb not within him but her. Assuringly she had intertwined her fingers into his and given him her most affectionate smile that was just enough to soothe all his agony.š³
"I am sorry anandijee...maine aapko bahut taqleef di hai aaj. Maine vada kiya tha ki aapko har museebat se bachaunga...har mushkil mein aapka saath dunga...par aaj main apna vada nahin nibha paya. I failed today"
"Aap sahi kah rahe hain Collector sahab...aaj aap fail ho gaye.Isliye nahin ki aapne apna vada nahin nibhaya...isliye kyunki aap mujhe samajh nahin paye.Aapko kya laga ki main aapke saath shaadi majboor hokar kar rahi hoon"
Shiv looked down in embarrassment as he couldn't meet her eyes. He really had acted as an over-emotional teenaged lover. But then love rarely does see age.
"Collector sahab agar mujhe Jagiya ke paas wapas jana hota to main pehle hi chali jati.Par shayad main bahut aage aa chuki hoon.Jagiya shayad un saari taqleefon ko..un saare aansunon ko bhool sakte hain par main nahin bhool sakti.Main nahin bhool sakti ki unhone na hi sirf mere saath balki mere parivaar ke saath bhi dhoka kiya.Aur ab woh wohi dhoka apni dusri patni ke saath kar rahe hain.Main unhein dil se kabhi maaf nahin kar sakti.Saath hona to bahut door ki baat hai.Aur jahan tak aapka sawal hai...to maine aapse kaha tha ki mujhe aapki payal bahut pasand hai.Aur jaise aapki payal sirf ek zevar nahin thi...wasie hi mere woh shabd bhi sirf uss zewar ki tariff nahin the.Woh ek ishara tha jo mujhe laga tha ki aap samajhenge"
Hearing her words Shiv suddenly felt sick in the stomach. How could he not trust her with her words. He felt disgusted at himself.
"I am sorry anadijee'...I am sorry ki main aapko samajh nahin paya.Pata nahin mujhe kya ho gaya tha.Ek darr sa baith gaya tha mann mein ki agar aap sach mein ye shaadi majboori mein kar rahi hain to main khud ko kaise maaf kar paunga.Main aapko ek zabardasti ki zindagi jeete hue nahin dekh sakta.Aur agar woh mere wajah se hota to shayad main khud ko kabhi maaf na kar pata.But I promise I will make for all the wrong I have done today"
Anandi smiled as he said that.
"nahin iss baar aap nahin...iss baar main karungi." She had said with a blush that lingered on her cheeks since then.
Coming out of her thoughts Anandi patted her head with a shy giggle! She had the entire plan clear in her mind. Packing the halwa she cooked for him,she ventured out of haveli towards CH where Ira and Meenu had been waiting for her to select sarees for the wedding.
Reaching the CH she greeted all her new family members by touching their feet except Ira and Meenu who had cuddled her into an embrace
"Kaisi ho anandi beta?Aur ab kalyani jee kaisi hain.Kal ki tarah zyaada pareshan to nahin hain na" dadu asked in his typical joking style.
"jee nahin dadisaa theek hain ab" she said, her eyes lurking around to find him.
"collector sahab dikhai nahin de rahe..woh ghar nahin hain kya" she asked, disheartenment becoming visible in her eyes.
Dadu: Kyun Anandi beta?Tum sirf us se milne aayi ho.Humse nahin.
Anandi blushed to a shade of pink hearing dadu's words and looked down to find an answer.
"jee nahin woh to main bas unke liye halwa layi thi isliye"
Dadu: Ohh HALWA!! Woh bhi sirf Shiv ke liye.
"nahin nahin" Anandi fumbled "sirf collector sahab ke liye nahin hai...aap sab ke liye hai" she handed the dibba to CM hurriedly.
CM - "Pls papajee ab aap meri hone wali bahu ko iss tarah pareshan mat keejiye.Ek to woh bechari itne pyaar se halwa banake layi hai aur Shiv kha bhi nahin payega aaj"
Anandi was happily staring at CM when she said "meri bahu'...it sounded so endearing to her. Finally she had managed to bring choti ma at peace.It was so important for Anandi as she never wanted the person closest to Shiv to be hurt and worried because of her.But only then she realized she heard something else too.Shiv wont be able to eat halwa!!But why???she cooked it specially for him.
"Choti ma aapne aisa kyun kaha ki collector sahab halwa nahin kha payenge"
Mahi(from behind): Woh isliye bhabhi kyunki subah se humare bade bhaiyya ki tabiyet kuch kharab hai.
"Kya! Kya hua collector sahab ko?"Anandi suddenly became concerned.
CM - Pata nahin Anandi subah se uske pet mein dard hai aur ulti bhi hui.Halka bukhar bhi hai.Sabne usse kitna kaha ki doctor ke paas chal par tum to janti ho na usse.Is mamle woh kitna ziddi hai.
Anandi suddenly felt angry hearing CM's words.How can he be so careless about his health specially knowing how much disease prone Jetsar had been in the past few days.
"Choti ma kya main thodi der ke liye aapki rasoi istemal kar sakti hoon"
CM: - rasoi??kyun kuch banana hai kya...main bana deti hoon Anandi tum Shiv se mil lo.
"nahin unke liye hi kuch banana hai.Vaidjee ka kadha,,,isse unhein bahut aaram milega"
Mahi giggled as he heard Anandi's words.
CM - Mahi ismein hansne ki kya baat hai?
Mahi-Mom main bhabhi ko underestimate nahin karna chahta but bhabhi aapko sachmein lagta hai Bhai aapki banai hui dawa pee lenge.Unhein iss zidd mein koi nahin hara sakta.Aur woh bhi tab jab unhein ye pata chal jaye ki aapne unke liye halwa banaya hai jo unhein nahin milne wala.I bet bhabhi!!
Anandi smiled hearing mahi's words.
"Theek hai bet...par main jeeti to mera ek kaam karna padega" anandi said with an astounding confidence in her voice.
Mahi was impressed seeing his bhabhi's confidence.And so was CM and other family members too.He accepted the bet as CM told Anandi the whereabouts of all the indgredients she needed.About after 15 minutes Anandi emerged out of the kitchen with a glass in a tray and headed towards Shiv's room."All the best anandi beta" dadu said making anandi smile with surprise.This family was surely soemthing else. As she opened the door to Shiv's room, Mahi greeted her in with a smirk and gave her a thumbs up as he moved out.Anandi instantly knew he had spilled the HALWA sach to Shiv.Now it was really a task for her.As she moved inside, she saw Shiv sitting on his bed with a puffed face.She giggled seeing his unique style of welcome.No good morning...no hie...just a puppy face asking "where is my halwa"
Moving closer to him she placed the tray on the sidetable and gently moved her hand on his forehead to check his temperature.
"aapne halwa banaya hai" he asked her puppily.
"han par aap nahin kha sakte...aap yeh pee leejiye" she said sternly handing him the glass of kadha.Shiv made a face as he sniffed the bitter smell of the kadha.
"aapne halwa banaya hai...aur aap mujhe ye de rahi hain.Isse to mujhe phir se ulti ho jayegi"Anandi chuckled hearing his words.He was such an adorable kid when unwell.She so wished to pull his puffed cheeks at the moment but controlled her urge trying to look firm.
"Kuch nahin hoga...aap aankhein band karke pee leejiye.Isse aapko aaram milega.Bukhar bhi utar jayega"
"main nahin pee sakta" he declared with a submissive deny knowing he would surely be pinned down to drink it at any cost.
"Kyun nahin pee sakte...kuch nahin hai ismein.Nandu bhi pee leta hai ek saans mein.Aur phir aap to jetsar ke collector hain" she always knew where to hit when it was with him. Anandi noticed her idea working as Shiv looked at the kadha with furrowed burrows as if threatning it in his collector wala akdoo style.Anandi giggled at the thought.Closing his eyes he quaffed the contents of the glass in no time. His tummy felt like on fire as the kadha rushed in. He choked at its bitterness making Anandi move to his side in concern.
"bas do minute kadwahat mehsoos hogi...phir bilkul theek ho jayega" she pacified while rubbing his back gently.He was already lost in her beautiful face as she moved her gentle hands against his back. Suddenly his mildly feverish body felt extremely heated up.They were so near...so close.Anandi too felt her heart beating stridently against her chest.She immediately moved her hands back to their personal space.
"aap let jaiye...main lal singh ko phone kar deti hoon"
Shiv suddenly got up baffled as he heard the name loud and clear.
"LAL SINGH!!!Par kyun???ab main theek hoon"
"nahin Shiv aap theek nahin hain.Aapko pata hai na Jetsar mein kitni beemari faili hai.We cant take risk. We will have to do a blood test"
Shiv's eyes popped out at the name of it. An echoing giggle broke out of the room as Mahi was overhearing their convo.
"Bhabhi bhaiyya ghar chodke bhaag jayenge but ye baat kabhi nahin manenge.Aap bet haar chuki han" Mahi shouted from outside.
An idea suddenly clicked anandi's mind as she heard mahi's words while Shiv looked at her with a "what is she upto" expression.
"Collector sahab ye to bahut galat baat hai...aap mere liye itna bhi nahin kar sakte" she made a cute innocent face.After the last day fiasco, now she knew, "emotional blackmail" was the key to all of his locks.
"Kya matlab?"
"matlab ye ki mahi ne mujhse shart lagayi hai ki main aapko kadha peene ke liye aur blood test ke liye nahin mana sakti.Ab apne ek to poora kar diya to dusra bhi kar dejiye pls.Meri izzat ka sawal hai" she requested knowing this was the perfect trick.
"Anandijee main nahin kar paunga"
"par kyun?remember aap jetsar ke collector hain.Aur kya aap chahte hain ki mahi mujhse jeet jaye.Pls maan jaiye na"
Shiv made a helpless face as he reluctantly felt himself giving into the argument. There was no use he knew. Anandi had called lal singh to take his blood sample and while LS did the procedure she distracted him with her future plans about how she will re-decorate his boring room with her self-created paintings and artefacts. Shiv couldn't even know when the needle was done.The last he heard was LS signing off saying the reports will be ready by evening.Now Anandi put Shiv to sleep as she knew the kadha had a sedation effect. After half an hour when he was fast asleep she got up to move out.A wave of concern passed below her spine as she turned away from him.She so wanted to be there by his side...watch him sleep peacefully. She wanted to caress his beautiful face and stroke his tresses. He is a kid when unwell but surely he faces all his fears bravely just for her. He was such a sweetheart. Anandi smiled as the thoughts overwhelmed her mind; a happy tear escaping her eyes.Taking her hand to his face she gently moved it across his cheek with concern.
"I am so sorry to put you through this pain" she whispered planting a gentle peck on his forehead.Covering him properly under the sheet Anandi finally left the room with a blush on her face.

In the evening, Shiv got up with a heavenly smile on his lips.He had been dreaming of their honey moon.He suddenly felt fresh and disease free.Even the fever and nausea had subsided magically.He was about to give Anandi a call when Mahi suddenly dashed inside.
"mere pyaare bhaiya ab kaisa mehsoos kar rahe hain aap?"
"Main bilkul theek hooon par tu ruk ja Mahi.Tujhe to main aaj nahin chodne wala"
"Kyun maine kya kiya??Ek to aapki derail hui love train ko main fuel de raha hoon aur aap ho ki koi kadar hi nahin"
"Oo railway driver jaldi bolega kya baat hai...aisa kya kiya tune meri love story ke liye"
"Ye dekhie" Mahi handed Shiv a cloth bag.
"Ye kya hai??"
"Anandi bhabhi ne diya hai aapke liye.Unhone shart rakhi thi ki agar woh jeet gayi to main unka ye kaam karunga...unka ye tohfa aapko dunga.Woh bahut sharma rahi thi aapke khud dene mein"
"Kya!! anandikee ka tohfa...aur woh bhi mere liye" his happiness knew no bounds at just the feeling of it
"Jee han...ab aap aram se baith ke apni anandijee ka gift dekhiye tab tak main apni bhabhi ke haath ka halwa khake aata hoon"
As soon as Mahi left, Shiv forced open the bag in no time. He could feel his heart skipping beats.It was anandi's first gift to him.The thought left him breathless.As Shiv opened the bag, a profound fragrance overwhelmed his senses. He inserts his hand inside to check out what produced the spell bounding aroma and is left astonished to see a bunch of red roses in his hand. He panted trying to catch his breaths. The roses looked so opulent and love-struck.There was something else hidden in the bag too.Shiv quickly gave a hurried browse and took out the note from his treasure box.
Collector Sahab,
Kabhi kabhi dil ke jazbaaton ko shabdon ka sahaara nahin mil pata.Mere saath bhi kuch aisa hi ho raha hai. Isliye apne dil ke saare ehsaas iss ishare mein sanjo kar bhej rahi hoon,,,umeed hain aap samjhenge.

Aapki Anandi
A silent tear escaped Shiv's eye as he read and re-read the note.She had surely left him mesmerized as she promised.He moved the note closer to his face...taking in her fragrance,he kissed the note and closed his eyes feeling stirred.
