she has not repented for the problems her actions caused gauri in the past. I have not seen her offer a meaningful apology to gauri.
There is a big difference, and therefore i call her names.
I am of the opinion that professional compensation for gauri in terms of funding her education does not compensate for the personal trauma she faced. and that compensation too came from bhairon not dadisa herself. Dadisa was plain recalcitrant.
I do not support gauri or her actions... but I do believe that dadisa's changes have not been voluntarily imbibed through a change in her values ... they have been forced upon her by circumstances.

But aren't things that happen - to us or to others - make us sit up and think - oh - this can happen too - make us think and therefore make us change our preconceived reactions ?
Isn't this why DS first treated Sugna like a widow in a very harsh way coz that was how she thought it was meant to be ? Then, later on, when the entire family got upset about it and BM came to visit, it was the same DS who changed her former views and became much less rigid. DS is just growing with life's experiences - she hasn't ALL GROWN UP and been there done that about everything ! We all see and learn something new till our last breath...
This is what I most like about her 👍🏼. She is so open to new things and thinks about them on her own. This is the same DS who wudn't let a kid Anandi go to school, and now this girl is running her own school. This DS wud yell out Bhairon n Sumi in front of J, and now - she repents for having loved J to A FAULT.
DS is very much a person like any of us - growing rich in experiences by the day. And she is not malicious - she accepts when she has been wrong. In her time - poor families sold girls for a cost and these girls, held their tongues and worked hard and made good DILs. DS has known this and seen this and done this -with Sumitra, Gehna, Anandi and maybe Basant's first wife too !! So, why shud she have thought Gauri wud be any exception ?
Her fault was that she did so while Anandi was still very much alive and while Anandi had sustained that forgetfulness as a direct result of saving Jagya. Once the panchayat overturned the wedding - DS changed herself to genuinely accept Anandi as a valued and integral part of her family.
Yes, Gauri n her family may have suffered some hardship. I say MAYBE - coz if DS was at fault, then they were doubly at fault. DS had wronged Anandi, but they were knowingly and willingly short-changing their own daughter by selling her off as a second wife to a rich family's kid !!! What is more heinous ?
Will I sell my son just bcoz someone offers me a villa in Spain ? The buyer can offer cash, but the seller is the one with the goods - it is HIS/HER CALL. Here DS was not at fault. Only G's parents were.
