even today in remote places there is a partha .. where a widow is send to live on the ghats of Kashi to haridwar ... u r suppose to live in pennury .. like beg ur food ... eat no salt or anything ... if you are donated cholthes u can use ... other wise like in jan seva ...which is mostly related to in Kashi to the people who come for last rites...so it is a bigg deal yaar!!
