They want fuli to be mistress of their other son. SO, its sort of followed when the wife can't bear child, then the husband, instead of marryying another woman keeps a kept.
The 'other woman' usually stays @home bt have no logal right on porperty of the man etc

i was just about to bring that up.. how come live-in relationships are looked down upon but natha pratha is okay? i mean thats like prostitution pretty much except u pay up only once! at least in live-ins its UR CHOiCE and has nothing to do with money transaction!

(i'm talking about in general, not JAGAT-GAURI)

Exactly my point...at least in live in no one is being forced or harmed...its just a couple's decision to live together...nothing wrong if both agree to it...why should the world and society bother? apne kaam se kaam nahin rakh sakthe yeaaa society aur log !! but these so called customs and traditions like "nata pratha" "child marriage" "sati" "honor killing" and god knows what not are forced on people only meant to look down upon women and treat them like commodities or cattle....disgusting...aise customs se tho live in hazaar guna achha hai !

I agree.................never heard of this till today...........natha pratha.............honestly what will they show us now.............this channel is really going to town with every possible awful custom and ritual which should be as extinct as the 'dodo'.

Live-in now seems to be so tempting now and may well become an advice by forward thinking parents as opposed to the customs being shown.🤢

I think they are showing the natha-pratha and live-in at the same time to bring some awareness. Purely in my opinion, people who believe in customs (like natha-pratha) and accept it and look down at live-in should think twice - how bad is the custom (as some of us have said, we have freedom at least in live-in).

They have shown the result of child marriage - forgetting who looks good with whom, the girl suffers

I think they will show the outcome of natha-pratha to bring some awareness.

Again, this is purely my opinion - I don't think unnatural things are shown in this show like Uttaran and Ladoo.

absolutely right , these r double standards , maine apni mom ko bhi kaha isse accha toh live in hain , yeh kitni gandi custom hain , and she was also at a loss of words.
u r right live in is an individuals choice and if both the couple agree then society cannot object to it, yahaan toh it is being forced down upon u😡aur society chup rehti hain

I agree with you that is the point of this show to bring awareness to these barbaric traditions that still exsisit in main parts of India, I know the tradition is barbaric but look at the symbolism of this action, they are showing that these barbaric traditions are still present because of backward mentalities and the over used principle of family honor/sacrifice, and that one of the biggest contributers to the state of rural areas is their disregard for female empowerment. Phuli is educated and sanskari, but because she lives in a rural town despite her achievements she is still considered property, this is an outdated theology, enforced by supernatural fears and stuborness to change.
