Mohan says that mahaveer singh wld cultivate opium in the lands bought by him in their village. Bhairav tells abt the bad effects that opium can have on the villagers and the people working in those fields. Dadisa feels that they have to immediately tell the police but Basant feels it wld be of no use and they have to do something abt it themselves. Dadisa stops him and says that they have to go to Suguna's house for kul puja the next day. so till then no one wld talk abt this. She sends mohan to find more abt mahaveer singh and to find some more proofs abt this.
Madan singh and hs brother are discussing abt calling mahaveer singh for the puja. Madan is against calling cos he feels that shyam wld create another scene in front of everyone. brother tries to make madan understand, but madan says that shyam cannot be controlled and it wld be more difficult in front of his in-laws. madan wants everything to go on peacefully so finally brother agrees.
anandi is making some gifts for suguna(she is pasting OM, Swastika, Leg design etc on leaves) and tells jagya that it is considered to be a good sign if hanged on the main door. jagya scolds her for not studying. he asks for her english book cos he is not able to find his. anandi tells him to find his book. jagya forcefully goes to search her book and jagya-anandi starts fighting. dadisa comes there hearing the fight but when she knows the reason behind it, she excuses herself and goes off telling that she shldn't come in between husband-wife. anandi scolds jagya and ask him to get lost. jagya feels sad n goes. jagya is sitting in his room n is upset on anandi's behaviour. anandi comes n asks him to forgive her. jagya initially is angry but later returns to his normal self (cute scene between anandi-jagya).
Both start searching for his english book. anandi finds it kept inside the magazine that sunder had given. She sees the pics and is disgusted. jagya tells abt sunder giving him that magazine and says that he wld return it soon. anandi doesn't want jagya to meet sunder again, so she throws away that magazine. jagya is scared that someone wld find that magazine, n so he runs out and gets the magazine. He comes inside hiding it inside his shirt and when sumitra asks abt it, he says that its a small stomach pain.. he throws that magazine on top of an almarah in his room.
Everyone goes to shyam's house for kulpuja. sumitra gives a ganpati idol to radha n anandi gives her gifts to suguna. havan is abt to start. radha asks shyam-suguna to sit in front but pundit tells that its not good for a pregnant woman to sit in havan. brother tries to add ghee telling that she was already pregnant when she entered the house. shyam gets angry n is abt to say something but suguna stops him by holding his hand. brother tells madan n radha to sit for havan. havan starts and asha brings water for everyone. brother starts scolding her, indirectly insulting dadisa. shyam again gets angry n suguna restraints him by holding his hand
message : even today in many parts of our country widows are not allowed to take part in any festivities........why?........did they choose widowhood themselves?
