Innocence vs Immaturity

I have seen this trend on Indian dramas where innocence is reflected by childish antics and immaturity. A 25 year old woman acting like a 4 year old is not revolutionary and fresh for me, unless the motif is a mental disorder, which was my first impression of Noor.

The way Noor mocked/rejected Khalid because he is a differently abled man was where they crossed the line of innocence for me at least, the narration and reaction of other characters in this scene tells us that Noor is a muhfat, she doesn't hide anything in her heart. Is an Innocent good hearted person capable of dissing someone who can't walk or talk properly, this man is already depressed with patents like Asgar and chachi.

Khalid's actions of forcing himself on Noor. Noor and Shaira punishing him for it.

Noor is not a mentally unstable character but Khalid is a mentally unstable character. Khalid has no understanding of human boundary and it is comprehensive given his character sketch, he got punishment too because none should get away with what he did to Noor.

Two characters and two situations, where Khalid's actions are something one expects of a mentally unstable person, yet he was punished but Noor's insensitivity was presented as her innocence.

Makers should be careful in this regard, now and in future, I like Noor but show her wrong as wrong, do not sugarcoat it with destiny or nonexistent innocence.

I disagree with your idea of how a 25 year old woman, or for that matter a woman of whatever age, should carry herself! Dancing with abandon, loving herself, enjoying life, being dramatic at times, throwing fits, showing emotion, expecting to be pampered by your dear ones, saying the wrong thing at times, being immature sometimes - all these things are considered HUMAN. I am 40 and I still act like a child with my family!

I threw a fit somewhat like Noor did on my wedding day! I was 25 when I got married. I didn't like it when some old ladies said I need to look pretty in my wedding for my groom to like me. It hurt my female ego! I am human and I have ego! So I decided to be immature! I told them I would get ready by myself and sent them out. I got ready without any make up on and walked to my groom like I am the queen of the world. Immature and imperfect, but I wouldn't change a thing if I get a chance to do it over. My husband loved the imperfect me! I told my husband that I was an atheist. May be I shouldn't always tell the truth. May be it would be wise to pretend to be something you are not. But I didn't. He loved me even more. He wasn't expecting me to be the most enlightened at 25, you see?! He knows that he isn't perfect himself and we humans have a long life to learn and grow! You may say I am not a heroine, but in my mind I am! Actually I think I am goddess!😄

I agree that Noor is a bit too self centered. She was too harsh with her words to Khalid, mocking his physical disabilities. But when you have a guy pester you for years even after rejecting many times, and his mother is an unkind woman who mocks your financial/social status all the time, its hard to be kind. Khalid is not an autistic person or mentally challenged guy, but a visually challenged and under confident guy, who developed an unhealthy obsession for Noor. He is what he is because of how his parents raised him. People who don't experience healthy love from their parents end up developing unhealthy attachments as adults. He was always compared to the perfect cousin and put down by his own parents. I feel bad for him. But lets say you have an adhd child, who can't control his impulses, you will forgive or scold him over minor offenses, but you won't do the same when he rapes someone or kills someone, will you? Gravity of crime is always taken into account even when you deal with people with mental problems.

For me, Noor is like a breath of fresh air. She is different from all the perfect tv heroines! She is imperfect and she is human. She is good hearted but doesn't play martyr. The best thing is that she doesn't preach! I love that in a heroine!

You can disagree with me.

Anyone can act the way they want to but if they overdo it, it is human nature to get annoyed by it. I went from liking Noor's antics to be annoyed by it within a week, repetitive scenes, Noor doing stupid things and all of this being blamed on destiny and her innocent outlook of life, does not sit well with me.

I don't disagree with the idea of whatever you have written in your reply about one acting like a child with her family. My post was not about this. My post was about Noor's vices being laughed at instead of reprimanded.

Khalid is mentally unstable, Noor made fun of him not being able to walk and talk properly. Let's say Noor was annoyed by his pestering her to marry him but Razia's reaction to this incident was that Noor was laughing with Khalid, not laughing at Khalid. To which Yasmin replied that Khalid won't understand it. Azaan's reaction to this scene was hiding his smile.

The narrative was that it is Khalid'd fault that he can't take a joke on his disability, Noor was just being funny, as a viewer I can't agree with this, because one has to be a little sensitive towards people with disabilities.

For me, Noor is like every other immature female lead, makers try to show them right, even if I don't like their actions. Anika from Ishqbaaz was like Noor, Khushi Kumari Gupta, Bawri from TMKOC etc there are many muhfat heroines and they irritated me at one point or another. One unique thing about Noor is that she accepts what she wants, it is a welcome change from other characters who say that they don't want these materialistic things

@bold i agree. A bit more clarity and an ounce of sensitivity would have been nice. Razia and Yasmin dialogue was indeed misleading. Noor did cross the line by making fun of Khalid's disabilities. Noor is not perfect. She admires herself a little too much. Azaan is not perfect either. Even people who dont really mean any harm sometimes laugh at disabled people. That doesn't make it right.

I don't think there are many imperfect (or immature as you say) female leads on indian tv. The few 'immature' ones you mentioned come from gul khan's shows. Though I didnt really follow many of her shows, I admire the spunk in her leading ladies. I especially loved khushi kumari gupta. Most other leading ladies are pativrata nari type ones that will chop off an arm and leg for a toxic husband or in-laws. Noor here is self-centered, lives in her own world, speaks her mind, acts without thinking sometimes, but cares for her people. I think that is more close to normal.

I agree with you. Also I didn't liked noor's first scene where she slaps an elderly man assuming he is trying to misbehave with her, even after knowing that she is the one at fault she didn't accept and apologise for her mistake. She claimed that innocent man was a molester and it is not something to ignore. The way she rejected Khalid is wrong too. I didn't liked how raziya supported noor and saying saath hasna and all, and how azaan was hiding his smile throughout that.

It's fine if they show that Noor is a person with flaws. She is self centred and full of herself, that's realistic. There is no need to sugarcoat.

Completely Agree there is no need to sugarcoat noor's acts.

They are showing shayra is in love with noor and not in love with azaan because now azaan's happiness is not shayra's responsibility but noor's happiness is shayra's responsibility.

Lol husband's happiness is not shayra's responsibility but third wheel's happiness is her responsibility.

Why so much importance to noor character at the cost of killing other important relation like husband wife relation of shayra -azaan?Why third wheel should be there in background for every shazaan moment?can't they spare shazaan some moments without noor after all they are also couple ?

Writer's prime focus is NOOR and this show only revolves around character noor and her happiness , they can butcher azaan-shayra love for the sake of noor very easily and they are on their way of butchering.

Honestly, Every other female lead in Indian drama is immature, at least the show I am watching currently. Prerna in KZK2 and Noor in BB. Imperfection is human and I like watching flawed characters, you are saying Noor is imperfect, but the narrative around her insensitivity was shown by characters which fed to us that Noor was not wrong. This is the case with every show, heroines can do anything and their stupidity is sugar-coated by other characters to give out a narration of her being right.

Only different thing about Noor is clarity of her thoughts about her needs, but she is far away from her reality.

She slapped an elderly man?

Bold - This is what I have been saying, if she is imperfect and flawed then other characters should not tell us that she is not wrong

Shaira's reaction was odd for me too.

Bold - I realized this when Faiz's dead body was brought in the hospital. This young man died in a horrible fire accident, none tried to help him, they did not show how he was taken outside of the inferno. In the end his death was shown for a moment to say that Noor's past and future died in one day.

This story has 3 central characters, focus on one and neglecting every other character will ruin it, how much time does it take for us to change a channel? A few seconds, they touch ShaZaan and I am out

Yes Nora! It was her first scene where she was dancing in a baraat, she misinterprets that the groom's father is trying to misbehave and slaps him. She immediately realises that it is just her misunderstanding, but she doesn't want to accept her mistake and keeps blabbering that she is future bahu begam and all. Later she goes to dargah and prays to God to not to punish her for that and in return she will keep fasting. Shayra overhears this and asks Noor not to do sauda with God and she has to apologise. Of course Noor storms off and doesn't consider Shayra's words. This is the first scene which shows the contrasting personalities of these 2 ladies.
