I think its more an understood fact that they are no more BF or GF. Neither Manav nor Anna said anything but more or less they both know it. Now, that I know Monica is a good friend to both of them, I think she can see through both of them. She knows they are no more in love. More than that she knows that its time both of them should admit it.
Anna was shown to be in a serious relatioship. Lajjo too prayed to God that may Anna remain loyal to Manav only. Even when Manav was in captivity Anna was shown crying. Prior to this, Anna was hurt when Sharad got a different partner for the dance competition. Where lies her loyalty is the question. She is way too confused at this moment. SHe knows Maanav is a reasonable choice. He knows her and she knows him. He has a good job and comes from a reiable family. On the other hand the Ghotalas are the weirdest of all . Sharad in particular hardly has anything to make him the right choice but for some inexplicable reason Anna is more comfortable with Sharad. He unknowingly keeps her happy with his stupid antics.She is caught between rationality and happiness. Unless she decides whats her pick, she will remain a bad choice for both the guys.
Frankly, they could have simply ended Manav's character instead of stretching it for this long. Let him just join his duty and instead of Monica we could have the man himself telling Anna that its the end of this relationship.
Its difficult to say whether I pity Manav or not. He won't be that hurt when he knows Anna no longer loves him. MOre or less he knows that but doesn't acknowledge it openly.Besides, when a girl says 'lets be friends' after a serious relationship it means lets end the previous one now. Manav should read between the lines and move on in life
