I think someone said in the last edt that Pihu would eventually become the most important (female) character, and I think she should, because she looks more interesting than the Prachi character. However, I hear Niti is very popular, so I don't know if maiyya would risk pissing off her fans. Though why not, she p'd off enough of us.🤣
Honestly, I was never in favour of a kid entering the show, because it inevitably becomes focused on the child. Aarohi was very good, but that first leap was beginning of the end. Having said that, it seems silly not to focus at least on both the sisters, if not go with Pihu as the lead.
I don't like the sweet, nice, too-good-to-be-true types of characters. For one, they cry a lot and it makes me roll my eyes too much. (Yes, Priya in that avatar too.) For another, I think we all dislike the sacrifice mode, which they're prone to. There's no bite, no spice... just borrrring.
Nah I think we're stuck with Niti. 😆
I'm kidding ofc, I do like Niti. I feel bad that she got such a boring character to play. The only role of hers that I've liked is Nandini from KY2, because other than that, every character she's played has been so one-note. Prachi is literally a weepier version of Mannat (I know we refuse to acknowledge it, but we all remember that Niti was PAIRED OPPOSITE Nakuul in Ishqbaaz right?). And don't even get me started on the Pihu from the first season, she was literally just a bad copy of Ganga from Kasam Se.
The emotional maturity Pihu had at age 5 was something else man, and Aarohi made me bawl in her last scene. Adding kids to a show is definitely a formulaic tactic on Maiyya's part, but Pihu as a character is interesting, both as a child and as an adult (I think Pooja Banerjee's doing a fantastic job). I know a lot of people are like "ew, why is she an alcoholic who wears shorts", but maybe that's because yesterday you saw her as a five-year-old and have had months to get attached to her as a character. This Pihu is an ADULT, one with more trauma than both parents combined at this point. She's closed off and cynical like her mother, and adopted her father's unhealthy coping mechanisms. She's an absolute train wreck, but she's my train wreck and she has every reason to be.
@ Your last paragraph: I AGREE!!! Pre-leap Priya is still my favourite Priya because I love my grumpy girl rep. Tellywood does the grumpy x sunshine a lottttttt, but it's almost never with the girl being the grumpy one and the guy being the sunshine one, which is why I was obsessed with the show in the beginning and at some point I kind of just lost interest but decided to tune for the leap and absolutely fell in love with Pihu.
Prachi is so basic and Niti's a good actress, ffs give her something she can sink her teeth into. A character like that does nothing for an actor's growth, I'd literally give no effs, collect my paycheck and peace tf outta there. Her naivety and hopeless romantic archetype make sense because from the last scene of baby Pihu, I got the feeling that she was gonna close herself off completely like Priya did and do everything in her power to protect Prachi; and when you end up shielding a child from the outside world and all its negativity to such extreme extents, they're unable to really do anything for themselves and they become dangerously trusting - so, in short, that side of her I'm completely fine with.
But I kid you not when say that I would've hacked off a limb if Maiyya had the guts to give her female lead flaws. She can still be the sanskari abla nari, just do something with her. They could've made her someone who's used to getting what they want and not being told no. In my head, Pihu raised Prachi the way Ram treated Shivina, except these are still Priya's daughters, so there's no way Pihu would let Prachi be as bratty as Shivina or throw tantrums like her. However, because Prachi's used to having her way, I could see her being quite self-centred and negligent of others' feelings (This is canonically true and I will not hear otherwise. Prachi knows that it bothers Pihu when she calls LK "papa", but she does it anyway and Pihu lets it go every time). Or show how much likes to be the center of attention, like, make her the kind of her girl who'd actually enjoy watching two guys fight over her. Literally, please have Niti do anything outside of crying and stuttering.
