Wearing a sarong, waxing my body was a challenge: Ram Kapoor on Humshakals

From television to Bollywood, actor Ram Kapoor has taken up roles and projects that have brought out the best in him. While lot of TV stars who graduate to films do not find it appealing to act on TV again, with Kapoor, there are no such hang ups.

"Right from the beginning, I have never ever differentiated between TV and Bollywood. I only want to act wherever I get a better project or role. For an artiste to say that he or she won't return to TV after doing films, it's limiting themselves and that's a wrong approach," says the actor, who turns 43 on September 1.

Perhaps it is because of this attitude that he makes more money on television than in films. "You see I have reached a level in television that the money I get is really good. In films, it still varies depending upon the film, production banner and size of the role," says Kapoor.

Actor Ram Kapoor says Humshakals (the film) was something he had never done before, so it was quite challenging.

Having done films like Mere Dad Ki Maruti, Student Of The Year among others, one still wonders why did he take up a film like Humshakals. "By doing what is expected of me and sticking to my comfort zone, I cannot afford my growth to go on auto pilot mode. And yeah, wearing a sarong with this fat and waxing my body for the film was quite a challenge for me," answers Kapoor, who will be playing actor Katrina Kaif's father in upcoming film, Baar Baar Dekho.

This is the third time the actor will be seen playing a father on-screen. Looks like we have a new babuji in town. "Oh No! That's just the kind of roles that are offered to me. There's no game plan that I'll target big daddy' for a role," he laughs.

Excited to have worked with Katrina, he further shares, "I could never have thought that she (Katrina) was as hardworking as she is. She's really slogged it out to achieve so much success in the industry despite being an outsider. Today, she speaks the language just as well as all of us and dances better than anyone else."

Reports also suggest that the actor has lost a lot of weight for this particular role. "I would just say that it was quite a long journey. Not just my weight but my facial hair, makeup, hair on the head, etc underwent a lot of change," says Kapoor adding that he no longer feels bad when people comment about his weight. "Whether you are fat, thin, short, tall or have six-pack abs or a big belly - you have to be comfortable with it to be able to face the camera and flaunt it," he says.
