Part 2
One week passed by and today was the engagement day in the Kapoor Mansion. All the guests were downstairs waiting for Ram and Priya to come down. Ram was pacing up and down his room biting his nails, while Priya was in the room across from him. Ram was supposed to be wearing a black suit with white dress shirt, but his dress shirt was unbuttoned and the jacket of the suit was on his bed. He was too nervous to go downstairs.
On the other hand Neha was with Priya and Neha was helping Priya put on jewelry for the engagement. Over a week the two got pretty close and now they were good friends. All of a sudden some man holding a video camera barged into Priya's room. The sudden outburst startled Priya and Neha.
"Hello!" The man yelled loud.
"Rajat, you frightened us," Neha exclaimed. Rajat just giggled pointing the video camera at Neha than Priya. Oh so this is Ram's best friend Priya thought.
"Sorry, sorry but, I was just too excited to meet my future sister-in-law. Hi I'm Rajat, Ram's best friend and I'm like a brother to him." "Hi , Ram told me about you," Priya said quietly. "Really," Rajat acted shocked, "Hopefully he didn't say too much unnecessary things about me." Priya laughed, " No, nothing like that."
"So where's my best friend at?" he asked. "He's in the room in front of ours," Priya said. Rajat grinned, "oOo I see you got everything noted down." Priya blushed and Rajat started to move towards the door. "Okay everyone say bye to the video camera," Rajat said aiming the video camera at them again. "Bye," Priya and Neha both laughed
This time Ram was laying on the bed looking at the white ceiling above him. When a loud noise made him jump. "Heyyy man," Rajat yelled bursting into Ram's room. Ram stared blankly at him. "At least say hi to the video camera, you know your future kids will be watching this one day and they probably want to know how their father is like," Rajat said aiming the video camera at him one more time.
That made Ram start to cough. "I can't do this!" Ram admitted to Rajat. "What do you mean?" Rajat said worried, setting the video camera aside. "Your going to be fine, I mean marriage is not that bad." "But, I'm fine the way I am, I'm happy single damn it!" Ram said angrily. "Yeah well, Masi doesn't understand that, so you have to get married." Rajat said shrugging his shoulders.
Ram thought for a while. "Your right!" Ram said sitting up. "Masi has to understand that I'm fine the way I am." "What, I'm not getting you," Rajat looked at Ram confused. "I 'm going to get engaged to Priya," Ram said. "Good!" Rajat was glad the problem was solved. "But, I'm going to break off the engagement in 2 months," Ram said quickly.
"What? Why?" Rajat asked. " Masi will not understand that I'm not ready for marriage until I actually can prove it to her, " Ram began. " After I break off the engagement Masi will leave the decision of marriage up to me and I could get married when ever I want, without someone forcing me to. So you like my idea?" Rajat looked at Ram shocked, "No! Ram this idea sounds really stupid. I mean after you break off the engagement, how sure are you she won't present you with another girl?" "I don't know but, have to take this risk. Besides I have nothing to lose. Anyways at least for two months I get a break from Masi's nagging," Ram got off the bed.
"Right now you're not thinking properly, so I am going to go downstairs. Get finished and hurry up, everyone is waiting for you," Rajat took his video camera and left the room. Ram was more happy and excited now. He quickly buttoned his shirt and wore his suit jacket. But instead of going downstairs he walked to the room Priya was staying in. He knocked lightly a couple of times. Neha opened the door, surprised to see Ram.
"Hi, is Priya there?" Ram was trying to peak in the room but Neha's body was in the way. "Uh, I was thinking that Priya and I should walk downstairs together." " She's in the bathroom fixing her sari, but you could wait for her inside the room. I have to go to downstairs now to help Masi. See you two later," Neha said moving past Ram.
Ram walked in the room, the room use to get occupied by guest but since they have moved out it was just used as a spare bedroom. Ram started to whistle but he stopped as soon as he saw Priya coming out of the bathroom. She looked gorgeous in a white sari with gold designs on it and gold outlining it. "Neha..." Priya looked up to see Ram instead of Neha.
Priya stared at Ram and observed him. He looks nice she thought but what is he doing here? "Neha's downstairs, I came here so we could both go downstairs together," Ram gulped. He looked cute when he was nervous and tried to explain something, Priya thought.
"Let's go than," Priya said sweetly. Both of them made their ways down while all the guests kept looking at them and saying what a good couple they made. Masi brought the rings forward and gave one to Priya and the other to Ram. Priya brought her hand forward and Ram looked into her eyes. He saw the softness in her eyes and he gently took her small hand and placed the ring on her finger. Her hand was so soft that didn't feel like letting go but he had to since everyone was staring at them. Then it was Priya's turn, she took the ring and placed it on his finger. As she touched his hand she felt herself blush.
The night went on and Ram and Priya were standing separately. Masi saw this and went up to Ram," Ram won't you ask Priya for a dance." "Masi I don't feel like dancing," he groaned. "Ram," Masi stressed his name. "Okay, I am going," Ram said knowing Masi wouldn't give up. Ram spotted her talking to her friends. He started to walk towards her nervously. Priya also saw him coming towards her and she started fidgeting like always.
Ram held his hand towards her and gave her a smile," Will you dance with me?" "Sure," Priya replied extending her hand towards him. They got on the dance floor and started to slow dance. Ram put his hands on her waist, while she put her hands around his neck, although both of them felt uncomfortable and nervous. Last week they met and now they were in each others arms, it felt weird for them. As the song progressed they both got closer to each other and the gap between them slowly closed.
Priya felt warm and secure in his arms, her warm soft waist felt good under Ram's hands. Ram wanted just hold her forever but he was pushing all these feelings away, reminding himself of his plan. The song was coming to an end, both didn't want to separate but they had to. Eventually the guests left, than Priya's family was next. After a long tiring day, Ram and Priya went to sleep looking at the rings on their fingers.
