Part 17

Rams joy knows no bounds. He is on cloud nine and keeps looking at Priya, hugging her, kissing her all over her face and is beaming all the time: Now, Priya listen to me, no more taking stress and running around and doing things for everyone. You have to take care of yourself and our li'l Prince or Princess. Don't get out of bed, I will take care of you, all you have to do is ask and it shall be done.

Priya is so touched and happy to see her Ram so excited: Ram, it is not good for me to sit around doing nothing. I am pregnant, not ill, remember, I have to lead a normal life, yes there will be some life style changes that I will need to make but that's about it. I am so happy Ram and this time I will have you and Peehu by my side, so I am looking forward to the next few months.

She rests her head on his shoulder and holds his arm securely with both her arms, while Ram has his hand on her stomach as he looks into her eyes with so much love. Life is just perfect when you are with someone you love, someone who means everything to you.

Priya: I know you missed being with me when I was pregnant with Peehu and I couldn't have asked for a better gift than this Ram. I am very happy that we are together this time and I know how much I missed you and yearned to have you by my side the first time. As we are going through this pregnancy together, Ram I would also like you to see the first five years of Peehu through my words and pictures. I have a box full of stuff saved just for you, I don't want you and Peehu to feel bad at any point, as it is I was responsible…..

Ram did not let her continue as he could see the happiness in her eyes slowly fade away making way to tears. He put his hand across her mouth and took her face in his hand and shook his head from side to side: No more tears Priya, this is the time to put all the sad moments behind us, no more of the blame game, just happiness and joy henceforth. Yes, I would love to see Peehu's growing up days too and that is a lovely gesture Priya. Thank you for capturing those precious moments for me. I want Peehu to be the first to hear the good news. She is going to be an older sister and needs to be with us through this whole experience. I am so excited for her as well. Please keep this news from the rest of the family till we tell Peehu.

Priya looks at Ram and smiles: You just stole the words from my mouth Ram. That was what I wanted to tell you as well. I don't want Peehu to feel left out or neglected during this pregnancy and I want her to be equally excited, only then will our happiness be complete and I am sure she will make a wonderful older sister. I can't wait to share the news with her. We can pick her up from school and give her the good news. I want us to do it together.

Ram: One more thing, I don't want to tell Ma and Dadi before I tell your parents and I don't want to tell your parents before I tell Ma and Dadi, so why don't we have everyone over for dinner tonight and ….

Ram and Priya together in one voice: Let Peehu tell them!

They both stop and look at each other in surprise as they utter those words together and they both giggle. Ram looks at his watch and tells Priya they have to leave to pick up Peehu. As they come down the stairs, Ram puts his arm around Priya's shoulders possessively and Priya holds his hand in hers. KK sees them coming down the stairs and asks them if they are going to pick up Peehu.

Ram: Yes Ma and we will be a little late. Please don't wait for us for lunch. We will pick up Peehu and go to Sharma House on our way back. Also, Ma can you please tell Bansi Kaka that Priya's parents, Nuts, Karthik, Ayesha and Kush, Vikram, Neha and their children will be joining us for dinner.

KK: Ok Beta, anything special?

Ram smiles, looks at Priya and then at KK: Just want to have the entire family over for dinner. We haven't done this in a long time.

KK: That's true Beta. You better leave now or you will be late to pick up Peehu.

Ram opens the door for Priya and she gets into the back seat and Ram comes around and gets into the back seat next to her. Both he and Priya hold hands and are smiling to themselves. Soon they reach the school and are waiting for Peehu. They see Ayesha also waiting for Kush and tell her about dinner at KM that evening.

Ayesha: Any occasion di?

Priya: Actually we haven't had a family get together for a while so thought why not today. It is Friday and the children don't have school tomorrow, so what better day.

In the mean time the children come out and Peehu and Kush are very happy to see both Ram and Priya. They tell Ayesha and Kush that they are also going to Sharma House and Kush wants to go with them in their car and then realizes that Ayesha will have to go home alone, so is a little disappointed.

Priya: Ayesha, can we all go in your car with you? We can tell Shankar to bring our car to Sharma House and wait for us.

Kush is very happy to hear this and Ayesha is also glad. Priya sits in the front seat while Ram and the children sit in the back seat. Ayesha is driving. The children are talking nonstop about their day at school and Priya looks back at Ram and smiles. They reach SH and invite all of them for dinner and leave immediately. On their way down the elevator, Ram calls Neha and Vikram and invites their family as well. They get into the car and Peehu notices that they are not going in the direction of their home.

Peehu: Mamma, where are we going? I am hungry.

Ram looks at Priya and she signs to him to answer her question: Well, Peehu we have some very good news for you and so we are going to out for lunch to some place where we can sit and talk quietly without being disturbed.

Peehu looks at Ram and then at Priya: Are we going to the Chinese restaurant papa?

Ram asks Priya if she is ok with that and she nods: Ok Peehu, so Chinese it is. He gives Shankar directions and soon they are at the restaurant. Ram gives him money and asks him to get something to eat and be back within the hour. The three of them go to the restaurant to their special chamber that is secluded so they will not be disturbed.

They order the food and while they are waiting Priya takes Peehu in her arms holds her from the side while Ram says: Rockstar, Mamma and I want to give you some very good news. You are going to be a big sister soon. We are going to have a small baby in our home in a few months.

Peehu is very happy and turns and gives her Mamma a kiss on her cheek and then her Papa: Are we going to get a real baby Papa? Where is the baby now? Is it a baby brother or a sister? Can I see the baby now?

Priya gives Peehu a peck on her cheek: Yes, Princess your very own baby brother or sister. We won't know till the baby comes out of Mammas tummy and that is where he or she is going to be till he or she is strong enough to come out into the world. When we go to the doctor's office we will ask her if you can see the pictures of the baby when they take them.

Peehu: How did the baby get into your tummy Mamma?

Priya takes Peehu's tiny hand and puts it against her tummy along with Ram's hand: The baby is sleeping inside here Peehu. When Mamma and Papa are very happy with each other Bhagwanji is very happy and he puts a tiny seed inside Mamma's tummy. The seed will grow slowly and become a baby and then, when the baby is strong enough the doctor will help bring the baby out of Mamma's tummy. Are you happy that you are going to be a big sister soon?

Peehu throws her arms around Priya and gives her a kiss. She turns around and does the same with Ram: Who is going to be baby's Papa?

Ram: Who is your Papa?

Peehu looks at Ram and pokes him in his belly: You are my Papa.

Ram: I am also your baby brother or sisters Papa. You will share your Mamma and Papa with your baby brother or sister.

Peehu turns to Priya: Mamma was I also born the same way?

Priya: Yes Baby, you also were born the same way. That is why Mamma and Papa love you so much.

Peehu: Can I touch the baby now?

Priya: You cannot feel the baby as yet, because he or she is very small now. But if you put your hand on my tummy, I am sure your baby brother or sister can feel his or her Didi's touch and will be very happy.

Peehu immediately rubs her hand on Priya's tummy and a single tear peeps out of Priya's eyes as she looks at Peehu and feels her tiny palm against her tummy. She turns and looks at Ram and his eyes are moist as well. Both Priya and Ram hold Peehu and give her a kiss on each side.

Ram: Rockstar, since you are going to be baby's big sister we wanted you to be the first to know about the baby. You are the most important person in our life and we will all love each other and the baby.

Peehu: Yes Papa, I am very happy and I am going to be a big sister. She thinks for a bit and says: What about Kush? Isn't he my brother too?

Priya: Yes Princess, Kush is your brother too. But there is a small difference, Just like you were born from my tummy and so will this little brother or sister, Kush was born from Ayesha maasi's tummy and he has a different Papa too. Because I am his Maasi, he calls me Mamma and he calls your Papa, Papa because when we were not here, Papa used to take care of Kush because his Papa went away on work. I know this might be a little complicated for your little brain, but you will understand all this when you are a little older. Remember we all love you very much and together, your Papa, you and I are going to love your little baby brother or sister.

Peehu: Yes, Mamma. I am going to love my little baby brother or sister. When will he or she come out of your tummy?

Priya: A few months after your birthday Peehu. Now the next thing we have to do is to start planning for your birthday. My princess is going to be five years old next month so you have to tell us what you want.

Ram: Also, Peehu we have not told anyone at home or in Nanu's home or Neha aunties too. They are all going to come home for dinner tonight and we want our little Princess to tell everyone about her baby brother or sister. This is going to be your surprise for everyone.

Peehu is very excited and happy. The food comes in the mean time and they start to eat. Priya looks at the food and is nauseated so refuses to eat.

Ram looks at Priya: You have to eat something Priya, remember if you don't eat the baby is going to starve too.

Peehu giggles: Yes Mamma and then the hungry dragon in his or her tummy is going to growl and make noises like the dragon does when I am hungry.

Priya looks at both of them and then at the food and shakes her head. Ram feeds her some soup and so does Peehu and she cannot refuse. Eventually to satisfy them she pecks at the food and Ram is immediately worried.

Ram: Can I get you something else Priya?

Priya: Once we go home I will eat something there.

Ram's eyes widen: I know what, after we are done eating, we shall go for some Kulfi. I am sure you will not refuse that.

Priya smiles: Okay I will share a Kulfi with both of you.

Peehu: Mamma, you and the baby can share a Kulfi while Papa and I share one.

Priya pouts: Not fair, the baby is still in my tummy. You are already ganging up against us.

Peehu giggles and hugs her Mamma. She is extremely happy and so is Ram. He looks adoringly at his wife and she can see nothing but pure love in them.

After lunch they go for Kulfi and then head back to KM. Peehu is bursting with excitement and almost let the cat out and closes her mouth and giggles. Priya tells KK that she needs to finish her homework before the others come and takes her into her room. Ram goes with them to Peehu's room and lays down on the bed to rest. Soon, Peehu also changes and has a wash and both Priya and Peehu join Ram on the bed. They have a cosy siesta and get ready for the evening's dinner.

Soon everyone is sitting in the living room and chatting. Peehu comes to Priya and whispers in her ear: When do I tell everyone?

Priya whispers back: After dinner and before we have dessert.

Peehu can't wait any longer: Mamma, can we all have dinner now, I am hungry.

Priya laughs and gives her a kiss on her cheek: Okay Princess, let me tell Bansi kaka to serve dinner. She leaves to the kitchen and Neha follows her in.

Neha: I wanted to ask you earlier, but you have been so busy, what is the occasion for this dinner?

Priya doesn't make eye contact with Neha: Nothing really Neha. Ram thought it has been a while since we all met up together so wanted to have this get together.

Neha: Priya, there is more to this than meets the eye. You look different. Whats happening?

Priya: Really nothing Neha. Lets get Bansi kaka to serve us soon. I am also famished like my daughter.

Neha: By the way, how was your getaway last evening? Very romantic na? I can't wait to hear everything from you. You guys are so lovey dovey and look so cute together. I hope you are planning on having another kid; Peehu is going to be so lonely otherwise.

Priya is shocked at what Neha said and blushes. Neha looks at her and laughs. They walk back to join the rest and everyone gathers for dinner. After dinner is over, they all move into the living room and are waiting for dessert.

Ram gets up and in a very official tone: Listen everybody; Peehu wants to tell you all something. Please be silent as it is something very important. He looks at Priya and she looks back at him all red in the face and bends her head. Ram takes a hold of Peehu and makes her stand in front of him while he is holding Priya's hand in his.

Ram: Rockstar, you can go ahead.

Peehu giggles: You know, Mamma and Papa are not fighting and love each other very much and I love them too, so Bhagwanji is very happy with us and put a small seed in my Mamma's tummy and the seed will grow and become a baby. I am going to be a big sister in a few months after my birthday. Right now the baby is here (gently rubbing Priya's tummy with her palm) and when he or she is strong enough he or she will come out.

Priya pulls Peehu close to her and gives her a hug and a kiss: That's enough baby! Thank you for telling everyone. She turns beetroot red and Ram is looking at her and smiles.

Everyone is so happy and gives Priya a big hug. Everyone gets very emotional and their eyes are all moist with tears of joy. Tears of happiness that things are finally going the right way for Ram and Priya - they belong together and we pray that they are together forever.

The family is rejoicing and celebrating the good news in this story of Ram and Priya, even as we wait with bated breath for the outcome of the pre cap from Thursday that has spoiled the weekend for most of us ardent fans of BALH. So while we wait for the mystery to unfold on Monday, let us celebrate in our own ways – the reunion of Ram and Priya in our own words.
