I was very excited to hear about this show. For what seems to be the first to me, we had to lead characters over the age of 30 and played by people were close to the right age and not some 20 year old "fattened" up to play and older character. Unfortunately the show is beginning to fall into the stereotypically pattern of ALL desi dramas rather than take advantge of the fact they are doing something new and different and working with a fine cast of actors.
First, why does Priya need to get married so Kartik can get married? This has be done over and over again in every drama. How about doing something different? Get Kartik married and once he's married, Priya and Ram Kapoor met and as a result they both fall in love...or decide to get hooked up for practical reasons and then fall in love.
Second, why is Priya marrying some guy she has met for 30 seconds. I wouldn't hire someone after a 30 second job interview and a review of their resume, so what is our lead actress with her double MA in literature rushing to this decision. And how is this guy so perfect? He likes the rain and he plans on giving her "permission" to do what she wants. Thank you kind sir for this "PERMISSION"😲 Isn't Priya her own person and knows what she wants?
Third, what the heck is with this Nuts character? She is really Nuts. And that line about her going to London and coming back a drug addict? Her suicidal attempts are scary - this girl needs to be on medication and seeing a therapist on a regular basis - she's plain borderline. Also, can someone tell me WHAT Kartik sees in her as I am at a complete loss. Unless of course she performs certain acts rather well and since this forum is frequented by younger people, I will leave that to your imagination.
Fourth, what is with this Ram Kapoor character? His family doesn't show him any affection let alone respect. We can ALL see it, but he's so blinded. I am sorry but no-one in the world of business is that ignorant to not notice these behaviors. You cannot get ahead in business without being able to sense the actions and intentions of people. When you're that high up, it's not about numbers, business works through face-to-face, people-to-people interactions.
Fifth, why do characters never have good friends? Especially female friends? I am blessed with good friends and friends whom I have had for years and these people don't stab me in the back and run off with a guy I like. Yet, in nearly ever drama I have watched, the leading character is ALWAYS lacking in friends or friends of a good quality. It must be an American thing where people have friends - loyal and long-term friends.
Well I definitely can't count - I jumped from FIVE to SIX. Opps, sorry but there was not sixth one 😳🤪
Seven, Give Priya a bit of spark. You can have maturity and a fun personality at the same time withouth acting like a five year old. Has India never been able to create female leads who are mature but smart and very funny and witty. But then, after having watched some Indian comedy shows where comedy is often not about wit and creativity but acting stupid, I can see why this is a challenge.
Eight, this show DRAGS. I am serious. It moves at such a slow pace I am about to fall asleep. I want to see more interaction between Priya and Ram and give them more to do. I LIKE these two. I want to see more interaction between these two characters.
And regardless, I actually like the mom in this show. She's got the most life and is the most entertaining to watch. Without her the show would be plain dull.
Here's hoping Ekta's staff reads this and gives this show the necessary kick to give this show what it needs. If not, we can all still have fun looking at the guy who plays Ram Kapoor. For a guy who is fat, he is REALLY dreamy looking. Imagine what he'd look like if he lost even a little bit of weight 😉

That actor is called ram kapoor in real life too..lol...YT him and u can see how he looked when he was slim and younger..really hot...i remember him in show ghar ek mandir while in school...

I agree about certain points here too...like Nuts charcter being a real nut...abt how suddenly after 33 yrs priya decided to marry the guy in a day or so...just so kartik can married soon too...about how Ram is Tycoon yet looks so weak infront of his family...i guess if they wanted to show love in middle age after arranged marriage they could have gone for a differnt tact...like how they both actually marry for companionship and later fall in love...a palin and simple arranged marriage where alliance is brought by some friend or relative or even by some matrimonial site maybe..Why the need of melodrama to make a show..can't it be subtle yet beautiful? I am sure audience would have loved it even better than...I hate the mom's character with gusto..a good actrees wasted in that character.

I like Ram kapoor's acting n his chemistry with shakshi(priya) and even his friend Vikram is amazing..

Priya does show some spark but then it goes out..i sometimes can't figure out why!

Still i love the pair and watch the show for them with least expectation as after all its Kekta show...

Great write up Laila and I loved the logical points that you have mentioned which was really bothering me after a couple of epis that was aired.

One thing I still need to figure out that whether or not the majority of Indian Audience have progressed from Tulsi Virani days. Because I guess the demographics have changed in last 15 something years. Or, is that Ekta and others are still catering to those audience.

Many of my friends have warned me not to watch any Ekta serial but I couldn't resist watching this as I found the story outline or rather concept is quite intriguing and another reason is Ram Kapoor for obvious reasons. But then again I liked the first couple of epis except the fact that their constant nagging of not being married is a major loss of life. Why??? Its not a crime in not getting married in time and that's not a big deal either. More so the surroundings were much worried than the leads themselves.

Secondly, I agree with you on Priya getting married in order to get Kartik married. Ok. Karthik played a good brother but I guess here Priya should have acted intelligently and with maturity. As they have portrayed that she is not against marriage but she wanted the right match for her. Anyway, but when this new suit came for her she though seemed in ambiguity. That's good. But she gave in family's happiness. Which is really applaudable in the script. But that's her selflessness.

On the other hand I would have loved if Ram and Priya would have got married 'coz they themselves wanted to but I guess that won't be the reason as the precap on thursday showed something else. May be because of Natasha, Ram's stepmom will arrange this and Priya's Mom will definitely agree again for obvious reasons. Here I don't understand why Ekta has to think on her already done formula. We all can figure that she will go the Kasam Se way which was so successful for her. Why can't people think out of the box? The concept is sooo good here but I knew she'll ruin it or our audience wanted to see Ram in the same old character. I hope our Indian audience have grown up by now.

And I tell you this concept is realistic. I have a friend who just got engaged and she is around 34 years. She has 2 sisters and my friend is the eldest of the siblings. Her younger sister is already married and now she got her perfect match so shez getting married. She is pretty and works in an MNC as a Manager. Who says not getting married means you won't get the right choice ever??? If God has made a partner for you then you'll get at the right time and right place. I would have loved if Ekta would have shown this angle of a marriage. Imagine if Kartik and Natasha would have never met then how come Ram and Priya meet each other and know each other??? Ekta should have treated the beautiful concept in a more realistic way rather than a regular cliche route of a manipulative step mom and her bro.

Coming to Natasha. If she is shown as such a fickle character then can Ekta justify how come Natasha is such a successful designer??? How can an insane person like her be successful in any field unless Ram manipulates the sales of her clothes.

And lastly, I liked your analysis on how can Ram let his step mom play with his emotions. How is it possible a character like Ram be soo successful in business and ignoring that he is nothing but being treated as a puppet by his Step Mom. The major logic is going against Ekta that Ram was quite old and matured enough when his Dad told his illegal affair to Ram. So, he actually is letting his Step Mom using him in his true consent.

I really hope Ekta's staff reads your analysis and take action.

@ Laila - fabulous review with all valid points.

I can't stand the Nuts character either! Ram Kapoor, the top industrialist has all this time to run around cater to her needs - He needs to get her checked his "bachchi" in an institution asap. And why can't he notice that he is being manipulated by the step-mother that obviously his friend can!

Also, I was confused why Priya would invite the friend who took off with her bf to her engagement! Really! Excellent reading about shallow friendships shown in Indian TV esp. for the female characters...

i agree with your points, But looking @ shows which are on top of chart it looks like indian audience is not really progressed much. Even while with a different concept there are usual illogical things not only in this show but other popular once as well.

I am trying to train myself to keep logic aside while watching hindi movies or shows...then I can enjoy it better.

Ram, Sakshi are great... Vikram, Karthik, Priya's dad are doing good job too.

How r you after a long time I am reading a post from you

I think they did push this week of tracks a little too quickly

The whole idea of this show is late marriage , arranged marriage and falling in love after marriage

Even though I am liking the actors and characters they play the screen play lacks something , I guess you have pointed it out..
For me after seeing the promos I have some expectations from the characters more of conversation before priya taking decisions

They are speeding up her decision to give her consent to that this karthik natz wedding takes place which I see will be a disaster..

There are flaws many of them I guess Ekta mai knows why she is so hasty about taking such fast steps for the female protagonists, if this picture is somewhere true to life

All your points and exasperation with the way some characters are portrayed is valid.
But generally Indian TV is yet to veer away from the old stereotypes, where melodrama and slightly impractical aspects of life still rule the roost. A majority of this billion population craves for these kinds of packaging and that is reflected by the Prod house and the CVs in sketching these characters.
Without being over critical, leaving aside all unrealistic happenings lets watch this show for the sheer fun of it and the acting prowess of the leads.
Am sure once in a while, like whiff of fresh breath of air; this show too tries to be different coming from the fabled EKs stable.
So lets watch it and enjoy the show together!

I think a women in her late 30 should be shown grounded well for making decisions since here she is independent as she is earning well she can stand on her feet and she is happy with her life as you said 30 seconds of meeting Mr. perfect and taking the decision was a little haste, but then she thinks about her family then she makes a compromise..

Now after Ram speaks to her she is in pure dilemma..She is forcing herself into this. If the tracks heading that way next we will see Ram deciding that for Natz he will take some major decision and decide to get married to priya..

I am pretty sure the turn of events will be more like a high voltage drama..
