So the dude rejects the girl cause she is too "old"...ie. in her early 30's
He wants a barbie doll trophie wife
I noticed that mentality in indian guys alot...when I was in India 2 years ago, thats all my cousins talked about...how guys there want a girl to look good on their arm
Frankly I am not surprised because most of the people I met in India were very superficial...the old ladies were looking for gori skinny brides for their sons...or the groom should be educated and "smart" even if he is older or fatter
I have a friends of various backgrounds...and no offence, but I have yet to find a down to earth brown guy...most of the down to earth guys I have met are non-indian
I dont live in india, never have..just visited...so...just wondering if the scene in the show reflected some realities of india society

Don't worry, my cousins came from India, went back to india to get married and they had only got there and they had prospective grooms and brides lining up with bio data. Just tell them you want to settle in India and so looking for someone like that, and see what there reaction is...make sure they are not marrying you for a ticket to foreign land.

Down to earth brown guy are really hard to find. They only exist in Indian dramas...😕. In reality I dont know if there's any left. I think what matters the most is whom you click with. I mean if you find non-Indian down to earth guy then you should go for him. Who cares in these days and age about race or colour.

I completely agree with you! What counts the most is whether that person understands you. The bond between couple needs to have understanding and that's all matter the most. There are many down to earthy guys in this world, but have different ethnicity. I am saying that because my dad is also an Indian and he is very very down to earth person. However, I don't know much about India so can't really say anything since I also never been to India.

I agree with you both totally. I have yet to found a brown guy like those who supposedly exist according to these dramas. They must exist though because where else would the writers come up with such personalities lol
But yes for sure as long as there is trust and understanding the ethnicity should not be the deciding factor

Haha that's correct since serials are based off of reality. (:

I don't know how to respond to this. I am from India never been abroad and hence don't know how Non-Indian are. But i can say this much that certain bad aspects of society are highlighted over much in such dramas. In India like any place else there are various problems in society. Keeping in mind the diversity of this country the social problems are different too. Its not true that no country has social problematic elements...Domestic violence, Molestations,Mugging etc are common problems everywhere...even in US,UK etc...but then not every girl is beaten up in US. not every guy is mugged. Right?

Similarly, India has certain aspects like Honor killing, Dowry problems, etc. But not every girl is burnt by in Laws and not all lovers hacked to death irrespective of what shows like Pratha show. Yes, there is a thing more like a psyche that girl should be beautiful, fair and slim but trust me when chip fall and guys are really looking for a bride that is maybe the third or fourth criteria...or hardly a criteria these days..IF you have met only guys who go after looks then i am sorry to say that you have met only the superficial lot of them. Err..You yourself are saying i am looking for brown guys...well?

90% population in south east Aisa is of tanned skin ,"Brown" as you said..now if every one wanted FAIR and SLIM girl..do you think India would have the kind of population it has? I have friends in both gender a plenty and the kind of guys you are talking about is the rarity. Yes, boys do like beautiful girls just like every girl likes handsome guys...Seriously how many girls are fan of Forrest Whittaker or Om puri for their looks? Compare that with number of fans of Tom cruise, robert pattinson or Hritik or Ranbir! Beautiful people do have it easy, yes agreed. But not every one looks for just that in their life partner...when its about getting married that out look takes a back seat or i should say it should take a backseat.

If you are only coming across people who care for looks much..i feel you are looking at the wrong place or circle.

By the way, i am overweight brown Indian girl too..and my parents too are looking for guys...So if i go by that outlook then my chances of getting married are doomed too...Right? 😛

i agree 2 u all bt even if we talk abt entertainmaent industry things remain the same in indian film industry we can c preeti zinta, rani mukherje r almost on verge of taking retirement they also must b in their mid 30's bt we still c salman khan, sanjay dutt, sharukh khan who r in their mid 40's still bagging lead roles !!!!wat can we say its same gender biased mentality going on and on 4m centuries...
