Yup if only he had accepted them

But then after some years when bhishma and then satyavati had came into picture, I really shantanu would have asked kripa to sacrifice the throne

Yup exactly, so much balanced on the split-second intuition of a mere human! 🤪

Also both Kripi and Kripa were Kshatriyas by birth, and only due to Shantanu's decision did they grow up as Brahmans.

Still they could not shake off their genetic tendencies and both remained attached to the Kshatriya-vritti with Kripa becomed Shashtra-acharya and Kripi marrying Drona, another Shastra-acharya! 😃

What was their genetic background 🤔

Actually the story goes (I forgot all names):

There was a King who was away on a hunting trip, and uske beech mein hi Maharani sent him a message ke she was ready for him. So the King sent his fruit via an eagle which was a very smart choice kyunki the eagle dropped the fruit in Ganga and a fish ate him.

The fishermen of Hastinapur caught that fish and found the twins Kripa and Kripi. They took them to an ashram nearby who in turn took them to King Shantanu to show him.

Then the King ordered those sages to take care of these kids and bring them back to him if were worthwhile.

So, genetic bg means, ke Kripa and Kripi were actually Kshatriyas and even though they were brought up as Brahmans, they still retained characteristics like Kshatriyas and an affinity to Kshatriya things like administration and warfare.

Oh okay

So they ever got to know that they are Kshatriya?

I don't think so. It's not covered in the text. Even if they did I guess they kept their mouth's shut because being a Brahman in that age (via caste system) was way better than being a Kshatriya, that too in a Rajya where they did not have any direct influence. 😉
