@Aditi what do ya actually wanna do ? Stack gifs or icons ? Both r different things. Be sure what ya want to learn so it will be easy for the editor to explain you.

See making and stacking are two different stuffs. First u make then u stack.

Stacking is done in two ways vertically & horizontally. U must have seen more than 2 gifs stacked in those 2 ways.

Can anyone explain GIF Icons and Stacking to me so I can understand what are they and how do they differ from each other. If possible then please give me any example

got this from yahoo answers :P hope its helpful,if you are using photoshop :D

Load the images as separate layers
Files > Scripts > Load files into Stack
The order they show in the dialog box is the order they'll be in the image (top is top layer)
Image > Canvas Size

Enlarge the canvas to accommodate your desired image layout
Image > Canvas Size
A dialog window will open that will allow you to enlarge your canvas
If you want the images lined up in a row, increase the width
If you want the images aligned above one another, increase the height
Click the OK button

Arrange the layers
Open the Layers Pallet (if it's not already open) Window > Layers
Click the Move tool
Select each layer individually and move it to the desired position on the canvas

GIF Icons are 100*100 avatars which are gifs (not stills) like this:

Stacking gifs means fitting two or more gifs together either vertically or horizontally (stacking doesn't mean merging) ...
