OS| Once upon a Christmas...
They rolled down the expanses that dazzled where the light reflected carpeted the world before them. The crunch of it underfoot offered a reassuring sense of purchase and she breathed the cold air like it was a refreshing drink, vapor clouded out from her on the exhale and she examined some icicles along the edge of a building, "Seems this year it's worst," she said noting the calm serenity of a heavily subdued landscape.
For an hour the snowfall had ceased, then large flakes began again to swirl down from the sky and a groaning wind seemed to protest at the dwellings in its way, making at first the heaving moan then whipping up to a howl that tested the eaves of any structure - they debated, to venture out or retreat back in for the weather at present was not getting any better.
The snow was heavier now, swirling down in great flurries over the quiet, silent Little Comp Chesterton Village, purposefully filling foot shaped imprints in the crisp, bitter snow. Christmas was here - and winter as well, leaving her blanket on the grass, a soft and gentle coverlet of white. The streets, empty still immersed in the darkness that came before the late December dawn whilst naked trees dotted along the edge of the lanes still groaning and mourning under the weight of the snow laying innocently and kindly on their branches, only to occasionally fall to the silvery ground at the sigh of the wind.
She sighed correlatively with the wind, embracing the wintry touch of the shimmery snow in his hand. Erasing away the pallid dabs off her watch, she smiled - the clocks hadn't turned back yet. "That's what I love about cold winters," she smiled. "Sitting, our fingers bolted together, you mean?" he whispered with a slight smirk. A jokey clout on his chest made him groan as he swallowed her up in a hug. "We're getting late! A dinner with Pryanka is still awaiting us," she said. "You mean, dinner with Prii, Miss Farouqui?" he chuckled. "Absolutely, Mr Khan!" she bobbed her head up and down before dragging him along the pathway.
Walking down the cracked pathway of the woodland, they finally attained a small wooden domicile, shadowed by a Mulbury tree.

The festive home was magnificently festooned with customary Christmas trees and decorations all the way through the home which comprised copious Santa Clauses on display. Upon arriving, they were invited in the loggia and much needed hugs and kisses were bartered. "Welcome Mr and Mrs Khan!" a gleeful greeting was extended by an equally gleeful individual. "My Christmas gift?" the host demanded authoritatively. "The fact that we are here is enough," Zoya chuckled at Asad's comment. "Com'on Prii, make a good face! Here's your gift," she beamed, giving way to two people who earned a gasp from Pryanka. "Raghu and Antara?" the atmosphere soon lighted up with ecstatic grins and laughter.
The night followed in strings of mirth alongside each other in an opulent dinner.

Antara stared at the multi colored lights circling the Christmas tree branches. A Christmas song by Andy Williams blared from the kitchen. Pryanka adjusted her winter wreath on the front door. Asad and Raghu sat in front of the tree, watching the little train circle it. When the whistle blew, they both sent fleeting looks en route for their respective partners. The air smelled of pine, and Zoya merrily hung ornaments on the tree. A fire crackled beneath the hearth, and Pryanka knew the only thing present at that time was happiness.
The feeling that happiness took the time to care, the feeling that would stay for years to come, the worrisome feeling that the gift would not be liked amalgamated with the excitement of their reaction, the happiness the joy and the edginess that sums up all the idea of a "Christmassy" Christmas; all these feelings merged together gave the exact meaning of Christmas for her, at that time.
It was just the exact time to lose the true meaning of Christmas but luckily re-find it...
Merry Christmas Pryanka! Hope that you liked this not very long, One Shot!
