Make Your Own Sparkle Siggies |
Before you start you need to download the programs below they're both free btw Microsoft GIF Animator ~ Click "Download Now" Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 ~ Click "Download" ™Important please read before you continue™ ™Please do not ask me for help on the programs listed above ™Please read each step and look at each picture carefully before you ask for help ™If you want to add this tutorial to your space then please add a link to my space at the bottom ™You will notice that each step has some parts of the text in bold ~ this means that below the step there is a link in pink that when clicked will show you an annotated picture of what you should be seeing ~ please use them as they are a great help Helpful note ~ each link on this blog will open in a new window :-) ™Creating the siggie™ 1) Open PSP8 (Paint Shop Pro 8) and create a new image by clicking the "New" button on the top toolbar "New" button 2) In the new window that appears change all the settings so they are exactly like the ones in the picture below (New image settings) click ok ~ this will open a new blank image The new image | New image settings 3) Click the "Text Tool" located on the Tools toolbar and click anywhere in the blank image and in the new window that appears titled "Text Entry" type the text that you want your siggie to say ~ do NOT click apply until you are instructed to Text Tool | Text Entry 4) This is the part where you change the font and colours ~ in the "Text Entry" box highlight the text that you typed in step 3 and on the right you should see the colour palette ~ select the colour/s you want your siggie to be. To select the font click the drop down menu titled "Font" and select the font that you want ~ do the same for "size" ~ if you want an outline around your siggie enter a number in the "Stroke width" drop down menu Highlight the text | Selecting the colour/s | Selecting the Font, size & stroke width 5) when your done with that click "apply" on the text entry box You should have something looking like this 6) To get rid of the extra parts around your siggie click the "crop" tool on the tools toolbar and click and drag a box around your siggie only! click the Blue Tick on the toolbar and it will cut away anything outside of the box around your siggie ~ Go to File then Save As and in the "File name" part type the name of your siggie and in the "Save as type" part select "CompuServe Graphics Interchange (*.gif)" and click Save and then close the image only not PSP8 Click "Crop" | Box around the siggie | Blue tick | Cropped siggie ™Adding The Sparkles™ 7) Re-open the siggie that you have just saved by clicking open on the top toolbar ~ once the image has opened go to "Image" then go down to "Increase Colour Depth" then choose "16 Million Colours (24 bit)" Open | Increase Colour Depth 8) Now select the Magic Wand tool and make sure the Mode is set to "Add(shift)" on your siggie picture that you've created click on the parts that you want to add sparkles to ~ for the siggie im doing i shall select the deep pink colour to add sparkle too ~ you will notice that the parts you have selected now have a dotted line around them Magic Wand | Add(shift) | Selecting the parts you want to sparkle 9) On your keyboard hold the Shift key (which is located under Caps Lock) and press "D" on your keyboard twice ~ this will of added 2 more copies of the siggie you made ~ the part you selected with the magic wand should still be selected on each picture Pictures multiplied 10) Click Here ~ on the page you should sets of picture tubes, download them all if you like but the one we are going to be using is called "Kandyz Twinkle Set" ~ at the bottom of that page are some instructions on how to install the picture tubes, read them if you do not know how 11) Now that you have installed "Kandyz Twinkle Set" click the Picture tube button and select which sparkle you would like ~ i always use "Star Whitezx" ~ adjust the size if you feel the sparkle is too big by using the slider under "scale" Picture Tube Button | Select the Sparkle| adjust size 12) Now for the fun part ~ adding the sparkles!!! remember in step 9 when you multiplied the siggie pic to get 3? well space out all of those pictures so you can see all of them fully ~ if you can't then do as best as you can, on each picture add a few sparkles in different random places ~ i usually add about 3 to 6 sparkles per picture depending on the size of the siggie or 1-2 sparkles per letter - Please note that you can only add sparkles on the areas you selected with the Magic Wand Adding the sparkles 13) Once you are happy with the sparkles you can now deselect the Magic Wand parts by selecting the Magic Wand again and right clicking on each image ™Set The Transparency (optional)™ 14) This step is optional ~ if you want the background of your siggie to be transparent (like most of mine) then do the following ~ click on the flood fill tool located on the tools toolbar, pick a colour that is not on your siggie ~ i'm going to pick lime green because all of my siggie is pink and not a bit of lime green in sight! ~ choose the same colour for the foreground and background, now all you have to do is click on the parts that you don't want on your siggie ~ i don't want those whites bits around my siggie so i'm clicking them to colour them green ~ make sure you do this for each picture Flood fill | Foreground & Background colours | Colour the unwanted parts 14 A) Now go to "Image" then "Palette" then click on "Set palette transparency" Select "Set the transparency value to the current background colour" and click "proof" to see if it looks ok ~ if your happy with it click "ok" ~ if your not happy with it click "Cancel" and make the changes ~ make sure you do this for each picture Set Palette Tranparencey | Set the Transparencey value ... |Proof 15) Save each of the pictures by clicking "file" then "Save as" make sure you save them as GIF's! and call them something like Siggie1, siggie2 and siggie3 Save as GIF's ™Animating the siggie™ 16) Open "Microsoft GIF animator" (you can find this either on your desktop or in your program files) click Open and open up the first frame (the picture called siggie1) now click Insert and open the second frame (the picture called siggie2) click Insert again and open the last frame (the picture called siggie3) now click the Animation tab and tick the boxes marked Looping and Repeat Forever GIF animator | Open | Insert | Animation Tab 17) Your almost done! click the image tab and set the Duration between 10 and 15 ~ click the Play button to see how it looks and if you are happy with it click Save as and name it, click Save and yaaaay your done! :-D ~ make sure you remember where you save it so you can open it and have a look see :-P Image Tab(with Play button and save as) |
