i think because ur image size is smaller or bigger and not the exact size as the tutorial

lol...i wish it was so, but no you cant. you can only get the demo for 30 days, but now its 10.0, but its pretty much the same. i think 9.0 will be a little less expensive because the newer version has released...

ok...look at the picture...what does your original dimension say? for example, if you look at mine, it is 94*94. Now that i want to add a 3 pixel border, i need to INCREASE the dimension. thats where you see i typed 100 *100. This means my canvas has increased by 6 pixels all sides.

so now i need to distribute those 6 pixels, and thats where placement option comes in. I have 6 pixels to distribute to the sides, so i put 3 on the right side, and 3 on the left side. The same thing applies to the height. I have 6 pixels now that are extra, so i distribute 3 to each side.

The reason for you getting a negative is that you did not increase your canvas's dimensions and therefore the canvas has not increased and there is no extra pixels to be distributed
