Well one thing to remember, kids growing up abroad are more independent and mature at a very early age. The life style here is quite different. I have nieces and nephews of Sia's age and they can all identify with Sia. In India parents are more protective and also not so open about their relationships. Here in West it is an open society, so kids and parents do know a lot of personal details about each other. In India parents would demand every personal details of thier kids but would not share their past if there is something shoddy about it. This does affect their relationships when the kids grow older and they know the truth through external sources. How many parent would tell their children back home that they adopted him/her, if the child was adopted at a very young age? Here in the US they have to legally adopt the kids from previous marriage of any spouse and they call "my step son" or my step daughter". I was quite amused by this initially. But while watching this serial I think even though it sounds rude, it is still realistic.
