JYJ's Junsu receives 'Popular Star Award' at Korean Musical Awards

JYJ's Junsu was awarded the 'Popular Star Award' at the 17th annual Korean Musical Awards that took place at Olympic Hall on November 14th.

The winners for the Popular Star Award were chosen based on viewer's votes alone, and actress Yoon Gong Ju of 'Tears of Heaven' also received the award alongside Junsu.

The singer who has been actively promoting himself as a musical star remarked, "Thank you for presenting me with such a valuable award. The musical would not have been possible without the hard work of each and every staff and cast member."

He continued, "There are times when the number of people who come to our shows does not represent the amount of effort we put in to the performances, or the amount of support that you guys show us. So the fact that I can stand here to receive this award is deeply meaningful. Thank you to all of the fans that come and enjoy our shows."

In related news, Junsu has been cast in a new musical 'Elizabeth' which will premiere in 2012.

^^I know what you mean when you say that. BUT, I just want to see him in a lead role once. In Banjun Theater or Vacation, his roles were never prominent so I really want to see him act in a fleshed out role😛. And then of course, he can go back to singing and theater. Hehe!

JYJ still dominating in Japan

According to JYJ's label C-JeS Entertainment, over 80,000 fans were in attendance at the JYJ World Tour show that took place in Ibaraki, Japan on the 15th, further proving that JYJ is still dominating Japan's music scene.

Their special edition 'In Heaven' album to be released at the end of the month has received more advanced sales than any other album at record stores, and their Jamsil Concert DVD sold out on Amazon Japan immediately after being released.

A representative from Tower Records stated, "We received an explosive amount of pre-orders for JYJ-related CDs and DVDs, as soon as they come in… what's more amazing is that they have not been able to perform on stage or promote themselves properly for the past two years, yet still accomplish these results."

Japanese fans are also supporting the members' individual activities.

DVDs for Park Yoo Chun's drama 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal' was the #1 most purchased DVD for an entire month, while 'Miss Ripley' and Kim Jaejoong's drama SBS 'Protect the Boss' was also highly anticipated before the dramas aired on TV.

JYJ's International Marketing representative remarked, "Japanese fans are as loyal to JYJ as they are to their favorite J-POP idols… the members constantly work to grow and develop as artists, and the fans see that".
