Valentine's Day had arrived, but for Arjun Rawte, the day didn’t carry the usual excitement that it did for others. He wasn’t one for grand gestures, nor was he comfortable with the idea of celebrating love. He had always kept his emotions guarded, locked away behind his walls, and today was no different… or so he thought.
But this day—this day felt different.
From the moment he had woken up, something inside him had shifted. The memory of the kiss from the previous day haunted him, made his heart beat faster. Riya’s words, her touch, her determination—all of it had left a lasting mark on him. He knew he couldn’t go back to the way things were before. The walls he had so carefully built were no longer as strong, and every time he thought of her, the urge to let his guard down became almost unbearable.
But it wasn’t that simple. Nothing about this was simple.
Still, he couldn’t ignore the pull. The gravity between him and Riya was undeniable. And so, with a sense of resolve, Arjun prepared for the day, though he wasn’t sure exactly what he would do or how it would unfold. All he knew was that he had to see Riya.
Riya had spent the morning trying to focus on work, but her thoughts kept drifting back to the kiss they had shared. The electricity between them, the passion, the rawness of the moment—it was all she could think about. Yet, she couldn’t shake the feeling that Arjun was still holding back.
She had seen it in his eyes yesterday. The way he hesitated, as though he were afraid to give in completely. But she didn’t regret it. She couldn’t regret it. The kiss had meant everything. It had been the breaking point, the moment when everything that had been bottled up came rushing to the surface.
But today, she was determined. Today would be different. She had spent the morning preparing herself, not just for the day, but for what would come next. She knew she needed to make one final move, a move that would finally break the distance between them, and this time, she wouldn’t back down.
She walked into the office, her heart pounding in her chest, knowing that something big was about to happen. She glanced over at Arjun’s cabin, where he was standing near his desk, looking as detached as ever. But there was something in his posture today that made her pause. The way he was standing, the tension in his body—it wasn’t the same as before.
This was it.
She took a deep breath and walked towards his office.
“Arjun…” Riya’s voice cut through the silence as she knocked on his door, her heart thudding in her chest.
Arjun looked up, his dark eyes flickering for a moment before his usual steely mask fell back into place. “Riya. Kya baat hai?”
She stood there for a moment, gathering her courage. “We need to talk.”
Arjun’s expression tightened. “Riya, abhi nahi. I’m busy.”
Riya, however, was determined. She stepped forward, closing the distance between them. “I don’t care if you’re busy, Arjun,” she said, her voice unyielding. “This can’t wait any longer.”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. He knew exactly what this was about. The kiss. The unspoken emotions. The walls they had both tried to put up. It was all too much, and he wasn’t sure if he was ready for it.
“Riya,” he said softly, his voice carrying a note of hesitation, “I don’t know what you expect from me. I can’t… I can’t just change overnight.”
Riya shook her head. “I don’t want you to change. I just want you to be real with me. Be honest with me.”
She took a step closer, her gaze never leaving his. The tension between them was palpable. “I kissed you yesterday, Arjun. I don’t regret it. But I’m not going to keep pretending that nothing has changed. We both know that things are different now. And we both know that you’re afraid of it.”
He opened his mouth to protest, but Riya held up a hand, silencing him. “No. Listen to me. I’m done being afraid. I’m done hiding. You don’t have to be perfect. But I need you to stop running from us.”
There was a long silence as Arjun’s eyes searched hers, his face a mask of conflicting emotions. And then, slowly, he reached out, his hand trembling slightly as he brushed her hair behind her ear.
“I’m not perfect, Riya,” he whispered. “But maybe... maybe we don’t have to be.”
And just like that, the walls began to crumble.
Riya felt a wave of relief wash over her as Arjun finally allowed himself to step closer, their bodies just inches apart. She could feel his breath on her face, the heat between them making her pulse race. She hadn’t expected it to be this hard, this intense. But here they were, standing on the edge of something they both knew would change everything.
“I’m not ready to give up on this,” Arjun said softly, his voice filled with something vulnerable.
Riya smiled, her eyes softening. “You don’t have to be. I’m right here.”
Without another word, he closed the gap between them and kissed her. This kiss was different from the others. It was slow, tender, filled with a promise neither of them had ever voiced aloud. It was a promise to fight for each other, to stop running from what they were feeling, and to let themselves have the chance to explore this love.
As they pulled away, Arjun rested his forehead against hers, a sigh escaping his lips. “I don’t know what the future holds, Riya, but I want you in it. I want us.”
Riya smiled, her heart full. “I want that too, Arjun.”
They stood there for a moment, just holding each other in the quiet. And for the first time in a long time, they both felt like they had finally found a piece of home in each other.
That evening, Arjun and Riya sat together, hand in hand, in a quiet café. It was a simple moment, but it felt like everything had fallen into place. The tension that had once hung between them was gone, replaced with an unspoken understanding that they were in this together.
“I never thought I’d be the type to celebrate Valentine’s Day,” Arjun said, his voice a little teasing, “but today... today feels different.”
Riya laughed softly. “Yeah, me neither. But I’m glad we did.”
They sat in comfortable silence, sharing a dessert as they exchanged glances, the connection between them deepening with each passing moment.
“Arjun, I…” Riya began, but she stopped, unsure of how to continue.
He squeezed her hand gently. “I know. And I feel the same way.”
They didn’t need to say anything more. The kiss, the promise, the vulnerability—they had said everything they needed to.
And as they left the café that evening, hand in hand, the world felt a little brighter. This wasn’t the end of their story; it was only the beginning. A new beginning.
And with that, Arjun and Riya stepped into a future together—one filled with the promise of love, trust, and a whole new chapter of their journey.
They had finally found each other. And they weren’t letting go.
The end.

Haha, I know, I know—The End sounds so cruel, right? But hey, at least Arjun finally stopped running (took him long enough!). Roshni showed him love, but with Riya, he’s about to learn what it truly means to live it. And let's be honest, the man needs that love!
Finally valentine day 🌹 🌹 So beautifully written 😍
