hello everyone . Update might be delayed to late tonight or tomorrow morning .I was about to upload Chapter 5 after editing it but due to the rains,there was a network issue and i lost connection . I wasn't able to save the chapter and i lost 99% of it. But thank goodness i have the next chapter saved .I'll re type Chap 5 ASAP and update it along with Chapter 6. Apologies in advance .

A/N . I managed to put something together. This isn't how it was. But nonetheless I made some changes that make it look better. Chapter 6 should be up by tomorrow or the day after. I've got some commitments to work on tomorrow which is why I hastily put this update together. Lemme know what you think!

Chapter 5

"Suman put the gun down. No one needs to die" Yash gritted through his teeth.

"I can't. I can't..... I have to do this.. They'll kill Samay otherwise...."

The ETF had reached the Barrel Pub well in advance, undercover. The two ACPS sta at separate tables so as to not draw attention. Suman was sitting right across the room, her hands on the table, her eyes at the door. She looked tensed, sweat lined her forehead and she seemed to be waiting for someone. Her phone rang and she fidgeted in the purse and pulled it out. As she did that, Arjun's sharp eyes saw a knife. "So she is armed " he thought.

As Suman ended the call, he could see her trembling. Tears formed in her as she turned towards the bag. Realising what she was about to do, Arjun swiftly crossed the room, pulled the knife away from the terrified woman and threw it away.

" What are you doing Arjun? We were supposed to wait. Back off now" Yash reprimanded him over the comms.

"She is strapped. Was about to kill herself. Something is not right here,Yash." Arjun answered. Looking about, he saw the pub was almost empty except for a couple at the farthest end of the room. "Shree status on the backup?" he asks.

"Almost there sir, less than a minute ETA."

The rest of the team, sans Riya, was outside the pub, scattered and waiting for the instructions of their seniors.

It was almost 12:15 when Arjun announced, "We're going to have company. Chotu, Shree alert me when someone is about to enter. Ayesha get in cautiously. Behave like a customer" On his orders, Ayesha makes way into the pub, not acknowledging the ACPS' presence.

Arjun motioned Suman to sit and he took

the seat adjacent to hers.

"Ab batao Suman. Ho kya raha hai yaanpe?"

"I can't sir, I can't ..... Woh Samay ko Maar daalenge.... Mein ne kuch nahi kiya trust me..." she sobbed.

"Samay ko kuch nahi hoga. He's at the ETF headquarters as we speak"

"Kya?..... Ye kya kehrahe aap? Abhi toh maine unlogon se Baat ki. Unhone ne Kahaan Samay unke Paas Hai."

"Nope. Samay is currently watching Harry Potter and The Prisoner Of Azkaban in the ETF conference room." Arjun reassured her.

"Sach.... Sach Mein Samay theek hai na?Sir ye sab kaise hogaya mei........"

"Sir, a group of m..."

And then a shot rang out.

A group of men had just entered the pub. They wore black jackets and greencamouflage pants. A tattoo of Eagles spread on their neck. Upon seeing Suman speaking to someone beside the table, their leader had shot in her direction. However due to his miscalculation, she missed it by a couple of inches.

Arjun and Yash quickly exchanged a glance. Not the Eagles. How did a common housewife land up with the The Eagles,one of the most wanted drug dealers. The Eagles worked cautiously, careful choosing who to trust and who not to. A million questions in their minds, yet no time for answers.

Arjun quickly pushed Suman towards Ayesha who dragged her to safety, while the two ACPs took hold of the situation. Arjun aimed his gun in front of him, ready to open fire, when he saw the the men trying to escape.

But to their misfortune, Chotu had come inside and locked the door. The men looked at each other and realised there was no escape!! Two of them tried to get out from the window's when Arjun fired. He as always hit bulls eye. Two down.. Three left.

An intense firing broke out from both the parties. The ACPs hid behind tables and pillars, whatever would cover them. It was not as if they were afraid, no no, this was a game for them. And they'd always come out victorious..

Deciding they've had enough, Arjun stepped out from behind the pillar and fired three bullets in three distinct directions. Three bodies on the ground. Game over.

"Ye ek hafte Pehle ki Baat Hai. Mein Samay ke liye kapde laane market gayi thi. Wahan pass Mein Ek nayi toy shop khuli thi toh socha kuch lelu uske kiye. Kaafi Saare toys the. Meri nazar ek wooden box pe padhi, jo last shelf Mein tha. Mujhe laga woh ek music box hai toh maine usse uthaya. Kaafi wazan laga toh i opened it. Usme ek transparent packet Mein Kuch white powdery cheez thi. Before I could do anything, someone snatched it from my hands. Before I could raise alarm, I was dragged to the back of the shop. Wahan ek aadmi tha. He pulled my hair and slapped me. Kahan ke Mein uske business Mein daqal na doon. Main toh usse janti bhi nahi thi Sir. Usne kahan ki Mein kisi se kuch na kahoon aur chup chap ghar chali jao. Mein chali bhi gayi thi sir. Kisi Se kuch nahi kaha maine. For several days I noticed him following me. "

" Phir maine socha ki akhir kab tak Mein Iss Tarah darr ke jiyu. Mein police ke pass Jaane hi wali thi ke unhone mujhe dekhliya. I didn't go inside aur Mein Ghar wapis chale gayi. Samay ko school bhejne me Baad mujhe ek letter mila jisme likha tha ke Mein yahan aao aaj raat warna woh Samay ko Maar denge. Mein darr gayi aur ghar se bhag gayi. I went to the school having disguised myself and met Samay for one last time and gave him the locket. Saara din yahin Paas Mein ghumti rahi, knowing

they're following me. Mujhe pakka yakin tha woh mujhe Maar denge. Lekin aaplog yahan aagaye. Maine woh message likha hi tha code mein tak ke kisi ko shak na ho and I only hoped police would take my missing report seriously and figure it out. Kuch der Pehle tak toh laga hi tha ke I'm gone lekin aap logon ke bacha liya. Thank you sir "

At the HQ

After having recorded her statement with the police, It was time for Suman to meet her son. As soon as he saw his mother, he flung his arms around her, sobbing. The mother son duo embraced , weeping and kissing each other. They were home. With each other.

As they were about to leave, Riya called to the kid. He came towards her, weary and sniffing. She pulled out a purple velvet case from her bag and handed it to him. As soon as he laid his eyes on what was before him, he shrieked in excitement 'THE ELDER WAND. THE ELDER WAND. OHMYGOODNESS. THAT TOO OLLIVANDERS " His happiness knew no bounds as he embraced her, thanking her." Thank you so much didi. Aap ne aapke dono waade poore kiye. Mujhe meri mumma bhi milgayi and wand bhi. Thank you so much " Riya ruffled his hair and bent to talk to him.

Yash could not contain his curiosity asked Suman, "How did you create that cipher?". It is not everyday you see a common woman doing something he, THE ACP YASH MALHOTRA couldn't do.

"Woh I read a book called Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. Bas wahan se seekha..." saying so she took Samay and left.

The team stared at her. They just couldn't fathom what had happened. It was as if it was meant to be; Riya reading the book and decoding the cipher which is was created by someone who read the book and created it.

" Next time we hire someone, make sure to tell them we'd really prefer bibliophiles"

Arjun said, amused at the turn of events. That lead to everyone bursting into laughter. But what caught Arjun's attention was the laughter of a certain someone. Riya looked relaxed, although not entirely.

A small smile played on his lips. This was progress. A little. But as long as Riya was alright , Arjun was ready to risk everything. Anything and Everything.

New day. Same old paperwork.

The squad was in the conference room finishing their pending paperwork. It was something none of them liked. And on top of that, the ACPs chose to sit with them. Gone was their chance of some fun.

Arjun sat sipping his chai, his eyes stoic and his pen moving at a worrisome speed. He was thinking about someone. Riya had called up in the morning to ask for a day's leave as she was due for her regular check up. Arjun had insisted he'd drive her to the hospital, paying no heed to her polite refusals. When they reached the hospital, Arjun said, "Let me know what's up from time to time okay? And when you're ready I'll come pick you up. And please eat something and hydrate yourself. Halat dekhi hai apni"

Riya had smiled at him and said "I will, Sir. And don't you go worrying about me. You are quite the worrier. I'll be fine."

Its been about 3 hours since he had dropped off at the hospital. And there was nothing from her side. Exasperated and worried to the core, Arjun fished out his phone and rang. No response. Again

No response. Thrice. No response.

Letting out a loud groan, he ran his hands through his hair. He should've never left her alone, something in him told him. Dangerous thoughts raced his mind and tried to shake them off. A minute later, his phone pinged. With the speed of a cheetah, he proceeded to check it. Riya it read. Relief washed over him only to go away the minute he read it.

"M F9. TTYL"

Riya never used such Internet abbreviations.
