He breathed out fresh air in the train. He got down in Mumbai and moved to Dhruv's house seeking a new hope in life.
The interval bang:
Arjun was sitting in a train lost somewhere. Dhruv was searching for Arjun suddenly finds him lost somewhere. Dhruv shakes him bringing him back to senses, Arjun takes out his luggage and they get down from the train. After getting down Dhruv hugs Arjun in happiness.
Dhruv: thank god, you have realized it at the last minute, anyway u are free now.
Arjun: thanks yaar agar tu ne WO help nahi ki toh,
Dhruv: sala itna formal kyu ho raha hai tu?
Arjun: bas tujhe wo bolna hi jyaada hai beta
Dhruv: are chal na ghar mein dadi tere intezaar kar rahi hai.
Arjun: ha Chalo.
They moved to Dhruv's home and Dhruv's dadi insisted him to stay there until he gets a nice room in Mumbai. Arjun found his room within the next 2 weeks and he then moved to that place. He started to attend college regularly. His life has become so mechanized
ONE DAY:
Arjun: riya aane ke baad mere life itna ..itna colorful hogaya, bas wo gaya aur phir yeh black and white mein badal Gaya.
Dhruv: tere life tho abhi bhi colorful hai beta
Arjun: kya bak-bak kar rahe ho tum?
Dhruv: ek baar palat ke toh dekh beta…(saying it in srk style) aisa nahi slowly slowly…PALAT.
Arjun: ha dekha toh? (Turns back) RIYA!!
He immediately rushes from there but in this confusion, he runs into a senior. That senior hits his head to a pole and it started bleeding. Suddenly a girl came running to him.
Girl: dekhke nahi chal sakthi ho tum..bhai tu theek hai na…andhe ho kya? (and turns to Arjun)
Arjun: LIZA
Liza (she immediately turns to arjun): Are yaar arjun tu yaha kaise? (hugs him).
Arjun: actually mein apne MS ke liye..
Liza: this is crazy … mein bhi yaha..
Dhruv: toh tum usko mila toh mujhe bhul jaana hai. hain na?
Liza: tu bi yaha?
Dhruv: college toh same hai lekin meri department alag.
Liza: it’s so nice to see you guys.
Arjun was hiding his face but Riya was standing there looking at him with big eyes. He immediately grabbed liza and Dhruv and moved out of that place. He runs to the canteen. Dhruv narrates everything to liza.
Liza: itna kuch hua aur tu kuch nahi bola gadhedo.
Arjun: are yaar sorry.
Arjun sees Riya coming to canteen and stands again to make an excuse.
Riya: jab tum jaanthe hai ki daudne se fayda nahi hai, toh aap kyon bhaag rahe ho MR. ARJUN
Arjun just rooted to his place and was thinking about what to answer. She dragged him to a corner and made him sit and she sat there.
Riya: kya hua tumhe achanak bhag gaya kyun?
Arjun: wo wo..
Riya helds his collar: tumhe pata hai Sakshi ka kya kuchsocha nahi na. u are selfish.
Arjun sits quietly. Riya again furiously turns to him, seeing him at loss of words she again holds his hand.
Riya: kya hua arjun? Agar kuch hua toh mujhe batao..mainhoon na
Arjun: mujhe dependent personality disorder naam ke koi medical illness hai.
Riya couldn’t listen to this, she sat down in the chair.
Arjun: kya riya abhi bhi tum mere saath rahogi . Doctor bolaki treatment jaldi shuru karna hai.
Riya(holds him closer): Kuch Nahi hoga tumhe main aaunga tumhare Saath doctor ke paas, daro math.
Arjun nods and leaves the place. Dhruv overhears the conversation.
Dhruv: yeh kya pagal pan hai?
Arjun: yehi sahi hai.
Dhruv: jhut pe jhut aur kitna jhut bolega tum.
Arjun: dekho tande dimag se sochlo, agar mein riya ko unke health condition ke bare mein baath ki toh wo aur depress hone ka chances hai,kyu ki dekho mere bare mein hi sunkar kitna ghabrayi bechari. And yeh koi electric shock treatment jaisa nahi hoga, bas oral treatment hi hotha hai, agar wo mere saath aaya tho kam se kam uske dimaag par kuch asar toh jarur lagegana.
Dhruv: sach mein badiya plan banadiya tum ne.
The evening after class:
Liza was sitting dull under a tree, holding a book upsidedown. She was very disturbed and wanted to roam around the city and went near Arjun. Arjun was talking with Dhruv, liza came there running.
Liza: hey arjun and dhruv, ham jara clubbing karne chale
Dhruv: are haan yaar, I am in.
Liza: what about you Arjun Ji?
Dhruv: sirji ko bahuth kaam hai na .
Arjun: aisa kuch nahi , okay don’t get disaapointed I am in.
Liza: kya main riya se puchoonga ki kya WO hamaare saathaayegi?
Dhruv goes to Riya's room. She was sitting lonely. Dhruv knocks the door bringing her back to the world.
Dhruv: Riya, are you free now?
Riya: ha Kuch kaam hai kya?
Dhruv: are yaar aisa nahi we are going clubbing tonight so will you join us?
Arjun also comes to that place.
Riya: please galath mat samjho par mujhe aaj papa se milnahai.
Arjun: tum akele kaise jaogi? Guys u carry on, I am sorry.Riya tu jaldi ready hojao .
Riya: Arjun its OKAY I can manage.
Arjun: shh.
Dhruv and arjun went away from that place leaving a confused Riya there.
Dhruv: tu dost nahi dushman ho. U spoiled the plan. Meine socha ki agar riya bhi hamare saath ayegi toh tera setting hojayega. Par
Arjun: ab use hamare jarurath se jyaada usko private time chahiye isliye, aur tumhe patha hai na she doesn’t meet her father often. Waise I offered her lift so in due time mein usko yeh hospital ke bare mein bataunga.
Dhruv: hmm okay tu drop hogaya agar mein bhi nahi gaya toh liza will kill both of us. I have to leave bye.
Arjun went down to riya’s place by that time Riya came down.Riya came down with a very normal tee-jeans and a very gloomy face. Arjunnoticed this and banged his head.
Arjun: Are you going to mourn someones death?
Riya: nahi kya hua?
Arjun: tum tumhare papa ke family ke paas jarahe ho aur dekho is tarah. You are really hopeless.
Riya: please arjun
Arjun: okay fine u are not going anywhere. Chalo canteen mein Maggie khane chale?
Riya: fine wait for 10 min.
She then came down dressed in a very simple chudidhar but was better than before.
Arjun: not perfect but chaltha hai.
Riya: Drame baaz.
They went to a rich 7-star hotel. Riya got down and adjusted everything by seeing in the rare view mirror. Arjun turned the bike and
Arjun: hone ke baad ek call karo I will come.
Riya: mere saath chalo. I will not feel alone.
Arjun: Riya please yaar.
Riya: you know I don’t like excuses.
Arjun: theek hai ruko mein park karke aatha hun.
Riya nods with smile. They then enter into a big ballroom where a boy's birthday is being celebrated. Suddenly a boy of 10 years came to her and pulled her dress.
Boy: Riya didi tu aagayi.
Suddenly a woman in her late 30’s turned and came to Riya. Though there was love in her eyes, she and Riya have certain awkwardness to talk. Then after some time Riya's father came down and went to Riya but she smiled and moved away.
Riya was standing with an uncomfortable face and an awkward smile. Arjun went to her and dragged to a corner.
Arjun: Riya you are nuts.
Riya raised her brow.
Arjun: Why did you come here? To give an embarrassing smile and to play with your fingers.
Riya: arjun mujhe samaj mein nahi aaraha ki muhe yaha kya karna hai?
Arjun: don’t you love your father?
Riya: bahuth pyaar kartha hun use
Arjun: uski family ke saath kuch problem?
Riya: nahi they treat me good.
Arjun: toh problem tere father mein nahi hai aur wo family mein nahi hai bas tum mein hai. I mean still you aren’t accepting them.
Riya: no not like that Arjun, I respect my father's decision, par you see Arjun that alag sa feeling hotha hai na bas wahi.
Arjun: (holding her hands) bas isliye ki u still don’t owe them. Jao tum pehle
Riya moves towards them and stands silently, she turns to Arjun, he signals her to talk.
Riya: happy birthday Anshu.
Ansh: thanks didi. Tumhe patha hai I was waiting for you,meine socha ki u may not come.
Riya: how can I skip my brother’s birthday?
Ansh hugs her with tears in her eyes. Her father and Anshu's mother(ankitha) were silent spectators. Soon ansh went near his friends and Riya was talking with Ankita, but guests started gushing about Riya.
Guest 1: yeh Ankita is such a house breaker. Dekho wo bachi kitna acchi hai.
Guest2: ha wo riya bahuth achi hai is ankitha ko accept kiya warna ..
Riya: warna kya aunty?
Guests: kuch nahi.
Riya: are yeh suno na yeh mera house breaker yah kuch nahi hai aunty. Anyways the marriage without love doesn’t last and same happened with my mother and nahi hamko pity chahiye na isko yeh ilzaam. Kyu ki yeh mere papa ki faisla hai and I am okay with it aur aap kuch bhi kahiyeh mere extended family hai mujhko ek bhai hai aur Ek maa. Any more doubts?
Arjun was looking at Riya with full of happiness, riya smiled at him and turned to her father. He hugged her and ankitha hugged her and cried for a long time on her shoulders.
Riya: galthi toh aap hi kiya.
Ankitha raised her teary eyes.
Riya: aapko ek baarcross check karna tha guests ka list, yeh free loaders na har jagah pe hai, aajkal.
Then Riya had a very good dinner with her father and they turned to leave. Riya went near Arjun and held his hands and dragged arjun toher father.
Riya: papa yeh arjun
Riya’s father: ha patha hai, pehle bhi hame mile the
Riya: kaha?
Riya’s father: tumhare engagement ke pehle, in fact he is the one who asked me to attend the engagement. Am I right gentleman?
Arjun just smiles awkwardly. Riya’s smile fades away and moves towards the exit. Arjun quickly bids a bye and rushed to her.
Riya was waiting for him and they started. Arjun slowly cleared his throat for initiating conversation. But Riya was in no mood to talk to him.
Arjun: acha than a party
Riya: ha
Arjun: they were so happy.
Riya: ha
Arjun was waiting to talk about the hospital but Riya was lost.They’ve reached her hostel. She got down suddenly and started to move towards her room.
Arjun: kya hua? Bolo na tere problem kya hai?
Riya: tu, you are my problem.
Arjun was shocked.
Riya: please for goddamn sake don’t involve in my life, Mujhe tere saath nahi chahiye, I don’t want you to convince my father, I don’t want you to help me in anything. Mein tumhe request kar rahi hun na abhi toh suno arjun, please mere life mein tang lagane ka plans chod do. Dur raho na mujhse.
