The actor says the most difficult thing was to convince Diksha's father, who was looking for a businessman or engineer for his daughter. "It's Diksha who convinced him to accept me. Initially, we had decided on a November wedding, but because of my mother's health, we preponed it to June," he explains. The actor is planning to go on his honeymoon to Africa next summer. He says, "I want her to get accustomed to my work schedule."
THE LOVE STORY I am marrying Diksha Rampal, an accessory designer from Delhi. I've known her for last 12-13 years, but we have been dating for one and a half years. ADVENTUROUS US Diksha is not as adventurous as I am. But I will make sure she does a lot of adventure stuff. She will get to know what I do and that it is not as dangerous as it seems.
BACHELOR'S ROAD TRIP My friends have named this trip Shaleen's Bachelor Trip or #SBT. They are pretty kicked about it because I am the first one in our group to tie the knot. This is going to be my journey from being a boy to a man. I was never afraid of commitments. But I can be irresponsible at times. Now I am going to be responsible for one more person, so I need to be more careful. It is scary. I'm usually a backpacking kind of a person. But I had to plan for this road trip, as they are not used to road trips. While Ahmedabad is our first stop, we will drive across Rajasthan covering Udaipur, Ajmer and Bhangarh.
THE WEDDING We are getting engaged on June 2, after which the families will have dance performances. June 3 is the mehendi and June 4 is the wedding. I think I will also dance, even if I'm not prepared. It is a Punjabi wedding. We have not planned a honeymoon because I want her to come to Mumbai first. It is a different culture from Delhi. We will go for small trips, but a major trip will happen next year, either to the US or to Africa; I really want to go to Africa.
