CHAPTER 2:

Sakshi stared at him for few seconds then she quickly composed herself. She turned towards the DIG and spoke up in a quivering tone.

Sakshi: Sir yeh log yaha kaam nehi kar sakte. I can't allow it. Sir aap Paban aur Dhawan ko jante hai. Wohdono bohot khatarnak hai sir. Pagal kutte se berehem hai dono. Uparse se shatir bhi hai. Sir agar inhe kuch ho gya toh? No sir. Main isske permission nehi de sakti.

Arjun let out a breath he was holding. When Sakshi first disagree he thought it was all because of him. He thought she didn't want to face him again. But then his doubt clearified. She was trying to save them or rather him. He wondered what obstacles she had to go through just because of those two criminals. The way she spoke about them as if she know them in and out. As if she had been prey of their hunt. He clenched his hands in a fist. If that dogs hurted her swear to God he will kill them. He wanted sometime to accept their marriage. Doesn't mean he don't care about her. He do. More then he want to admit. Sameer's voice broke the chain of his thought.

Sameer: Sakshi ji aapko hamari chinta karne ki jaroorat nehi hai. Haam apna khyal rakh sakte hai. Hamare yaha sab trained officers hai. Aise criminals se haam roj panga lete hai. Yehi hamara kaam hai. Kya aap nehi chahte ki woh rapist pakda jaye?

Hearing this Sakshi shuddered visibly. Arjun narrowed his eyes. Shadow of unbound fear again came in those pretty eyes. Her eyes moved here from there just like a child's eyes searching for a safe shelter.

Arjun started having a nagging suspicioun. Did that rapist made a move towards her? His heart became heavey.

Sakshi: Paban aur Dhawan aam criminals jaise nehi hai. Khair. Undonoka khyal mujhe hi rakhna hoga. Ok. Aap log crime spot dekhna chate hai?

Sameer: That would be good.

Sakshi nodded and turned towards the DIG.

Sakshi: With your permission I want to make my leave sir.

DIG: You have my permission. Best of luck and Jai hind.

Sakshi: Jai hind sir.

Sameer shook hand with DIG and promised to update him with their news.

Sakshi brought her car. Arjun went with her. Sameer along with other team mates took the other one.

Shree: Yeh tumlogone notice ki Sakshi ji kaise Arjun sir ko dekh rahi thi?

Chotu: Aab hamare Arjun sir hai hi itni handsome ki ladkya hamare wajay unhe hi dekhte rehte hai.

Shree: Nehi. Kuch aur baat hai.

Riya: Ohho Shree tu bhi Arjun sir ki tarah suru maat ho jana. Kuch to chut raha hai.

They all laughed hearing this except Aisha.

Aisha: No. Shree is right. Kuch to gadbad jaroor hai. Jo look Sakshi aur Arjun sir ek dusre ko de rahe the isse yeh saaf jaya hota hai dono ek dusre ko pehle se jaante hai.

Liza: Phir undono ne haame kuch batya kiyu nehi?

Riya: Shyed yeh Arjun sir ka niji mamla ho. Hame insab me nehi padna chahye. Agar sir chahenge to khudhi haame bata denge.

Shree: You are right.

They all nodded in agreement.

Sakshi was driving and Arjun was stealing glances at her.

After sometime of silence Arjun spoke up.

Arjun: Kaisi ho Sakshi?

Sakshi: Main thik hoom. Aap kaise hai?

Arjun: Kiyu? Roj roj to mom se mere bare mein poochti rehti ho.

Sakshi glanced at him with wide eyes.

Sakshi: Aapko kaise pata?

Arjun grinned.

Arjun: Mom ne nehi batya. Phikar maat karo. Bas ekdin ek room se dusre room mein ja raha tha to mom ko tumse baat karte hue suna.

Sakshi blushed. Yes. She enquired about him daily.

Arjun kept staring at her at awe. He didn't know that in this modern generation someone can blush in this little talk. Then again that dreadly feeling came in his mind. He pushed that feeling aside. It's not a good time of inquiring about Paban and Dhawan. He started a new topic.

Arjun: Tumne join kab kya? I mean tum ACP kab ban rahi ho?

Sakshi: I joined one and half year ago as a gazetted officer just like you. Aur six months hai. But yeh sab kehne ki baat hai. Itni jaldi koi bhi promotion nehi deta.

Arjun nodded. Even he didn't get promotion that easily. After five months due he became an ACP.

After sometime they reached the spot. They all got down from the car and went to the spot. Though there was nothing to see they searched the whole area. After sometime they get back.

Sakshi was standing near the car. They all went to her.

Sameer: Ok. Yaha kuch bhi nehi hai. Aapne body morgue bhejwai?

Sakshi nodded.

Sameer: Ok then. Liza tum Shree aur Riya ko lekar morgue chali jao. Body ko check karo. Aisha and Chotu tum dono mere sath aao. Haam uss ladki ke ghar chalte hai. Arjun tum Sakshi ji ke saath chali jao. Sare saboot check karo. Dekho aur kuch milta hai ya nehi.

They all nodded. Sameer took the address of that girl and went there. Liza took the direction of morgue and along with Shree and Riya . Sakshi called the duty officer at morgue and inform him about their arrival.

Then together she and Arjun went to the police station. In the station Arjun became impressed the way everything is being handled. Every thing is under discipline. Officers stood from there seat and saluted when Sakshi passed. In responce she nodded. She took Arjun in her cabin and made him seat. She took her chair.

Arjun: Sabkuch bohot acche se maintain kiya hai tumne.

Sakshi smiled. That she did. This is not just a station. It is their home. Sakshi made sure of it. Every officer took care of others. Each one of them are honest and good from heart. They are loyal to her and to the country.

Sakshi: Thank you.

She gave her the evidence box and files related to it. He checked the evidences. Inspecting everything carefully. Then he put them aside and started reading the files. In middle of this Sakshi brought a cutting chai for him. When he raised a eyebrow she just shrugged. Arjun smiled. She knew every single thing about him. He was busy in files when one thing caught his attention. In one para Sakshi wrote that the rapist has a scorpion tattoo in his left shoulder. But how come she know that? All the victims they got either too traumatic to say anything or dead. They didn't know anything about him. Then how? He put the file aside and looked Sakshi at her eyes.

Arjun: Tumhe kaise pata ki uss rapist ke left shoulder pe ek scorpion tattoo hai?
