CHAPTER 4:

Mr. Anand came home with a fresh mind. His doubt had vanished. Arjun is a good guy. He will keep her daughter happy. But now the question is do they like each other that way? Will Arjun ever agree to take the burden of a disable girl? Well only time could say that.

Sakshi was waiting for him petiently in the dining table. Mr. Anand went to freshen up then joined her. Mr. Anand told him about his day. He could say that Sakshi was pretty excited. So, he asumed the outing with Arjun had gone well. May be there is still hope.

After dinner Sakshi literary dragged him to the drawing room and made him seat. She already wrote down the whole event now she just give it to him. He didn't say much while reading just the occasional uhu and aha. He could tell one thing that Sakshi enjoyed very much and she fallen in love with him. It worried Mr. Anand. What if Arjun denied to marry her. Sakshi's heart will break into pieces. She is so innocent and immature in a way that she won't be able to be recover from the heart break.

That night when Arjun went to bed to sleep he remembered the phone calls from his father. So, he dialed his number. His father picked up the call at the first ring.

Mr. Rawte: About time you called.

Arjun: Sorry dad. I was busy.

Mr. Rawte: Aur tere busy hone ke chakkar mein mujhe terrace pe sona padraha hai.

Arjun got up from his lying position.

Arjun: Dad are you ok? Why are you sleeping in the terrace?

Mr. Rawte: Yeh to kuch bhi nehi hai. Teri ma ne kaha hai ki woh haam dono ko chodke chali jyegi.

Arjun: But dad hua kya hai yeh to batye.

Mr. Rawte: Tujhe tere Rakesh uncle yaad hai?

Arjun became a little puzzle. He felt as if he heard the name before. But it was very foggy so he couldn't make out the memory.

Arjun: Sorry dad but...

Mr. Rawte: Ok tujhe teri Diya ma yaad hai?

At the mention of the name a tiny memory which was buried deep came to surface. Smilling face of a beautiful woman pinching his nose came to his mind. But it was very blurry.

Arjun: Thoda thoda. Mom ki dost thi?

Mr. Rawte: Nehi. Hamare dost Rakesh Anand ki wife thi.

Arjun: DIG Rakesh Anand?

Mr. Rawte: Ha wohi. Pehle puri baat sunle. Phir chikhna hai ya chaillana hai yeh teri marji. Ha toh kya keh raha tha main. Main, teri mom, Rakesh and Sameer ka dad Prithvi haam charo ek saath college mein padte the. Bohot acche dost the haam. Wahi pe Rakesh Diya se mila aur dono me pyar ho gya. Phir haam dono ne shadi karli. Usski do saal baad Raksh aur Diya ne bhi shadi karli. Unke ghar ek pyarisi pari ayi. Sakshi. Tu char saal ka tha jaab unsabse akhri baar mila. Phir tu boarding school chala gya. Haam milte rehte the. Kuch saal baad ek hadse mein Diya ki death ho gyi aur uss masoom si bacchi ne apni awaj kho di. Rakesh ekdaam tootsa gya. Phir usse hamari contact bhi choot gyi. Saloon baad woh haame mila. Woh tere shadi pe bhi aya tha but tu busy tha to tujhse mulakat nehi ho paya. Rakesh apni beti ko nehi laya. Woh darta tha kahi koi usse kuch kehde aur woh bacchi dukhi ho jyegi. Itne saalo bad Rakesh Mumbai wapas aya hai. Aur aab haam yeh chahte hai ki tu Sakshi se shadi karle. I know yeh decision lena tere lye bohot mushkil hai. But...

Arjun was hearing this in a trance. Now he understood why Mr. Anand was looking at him with a weird expression. And his parents wants him to marry Sakshi it was like a dream came true. But he snapped his father short.

Arjun: Dad main Sakshi se mil chuka hoom and mujhe iss shadi se koi atraaj nehi hai. I know about her state and I am ready to accept her. But aaplog age bade isse pehle main Sakshi ki marji janna chahta hoom.

Mr. Rawte: That's fair. But tu usse kasie janta hai.

Arjun: Party mein mili usse. But mujhe ek baat samajh nehi aya. Anand sir ne mujhe party main kuch batya kiyu nehi?

Mr. Rawte: Ussne jab tujhe akhri baar dekha to tu bohot chota tha. Sahdi pe aya jarror tha likin tujhse mil nehi paya. Isslye tujhe pehchana nehi.

Arjun: Hmm. Ok now go to room and sleep on the bed. Terrace pe jyada der maat rukye. Aapko thand lag jayga.

Mr. Rawte: Ok beta. And I am proud of you. I assure you that you wouldn't regret your choise.

Arjun: I know dad. I know.

Saying that Arjun cut the call and dialed another number.

Sakshi was preparing for sleep when her phone buzzed. She checked the caller ID and it was Arjun. She pick up tha call.

Arjun: Hello. Sakshi are you there?

Sakshi didn't know how to answer. She looked here and there helplessly when an idea came to her mind. She put out the payel and shook it near the speaker.

Arjun understood her way and praise her in mind for her wittiness.

Arjun: Sakshi mujhe tumse kuch jaroori baat karni hai. Kaal 10 baje aa raha hoom. Ready rehna.

Sakshi shook the payel again.

Arjun: Ok. Goodnight and bye.

Sakshi cut the call and stared at the celling. Wandering about what he could say and slowly she drifted into sleep.

Mr. Rawte entered the room with pillow in hand. Jaya was sitting in the bed.

Jaya: Kya hua?

Mr. Rawte: Arjun maan gya.

Jaya: Sach??

Mr. Rawte: Sach but ussne kaha ki haam pehle baat ko age na badye. Woh pehle Sakshi ki marji janna chahta hai. Woh usse pehle se janti hai.

Jaya: Hmm. I am proud of my son.

Mr. Rawte: Me too Jaya me too...
