Chapter 5a

Riya got into the taxi and told the address. When she reached the place, she became skeptical. It is a garage. How can a mechanic help her to find the people she needed? But she had no choice so she decides to trust nupur's choice and see where it took her? riya walks towards the garage when she receives a phone call. After picking it up she heaved a sign of relief. Maybe all things won't turn out to be so bad after all. She hailed another cab and told "blue star hotel." After the cab drops her at the hotel, she went to the receptionist and asked for mr agarwal. The receptionist directed her to the restaurant. She sees a dignified muscular individual whose hair is turning to grey but his manner indicated his energy. He is talking to a person who riya deduces as his manager. She walks upto him and asks "mr agarwal." Anand agarwal looked up to see a young girl who looks in her twenties. She is smiling but her eyes conveys of seeing too much of the world. Anand is good at reading individuals and seeing this girl dressed in a half-sleeves top and a pyjama with a bag slung over her shoulder he deduces this girl is stronger than she looks. She has already seen too much of life but inspite of that she has a hope somewhere. He then realized why his friend dr kapoor recommended her for this job. Normally he would'nt have listened but since dr kapoor is his closest friend and he knew that his friend would not do anything without any reason. This thought process of his took place within 30 seconds. He replied in affirmative. After indicating riya to sit down, he told with arrogance to gauge her reaction "you know miss shekawat, usually I don't listen to anybody and make my choice but since you have been recommended by my friend I am willingly to give you a chance." Riya wrinkled her nose thinking about his arrogance while anand converted his chuckle into a cough to keep his arrogance up. Riya said "yes, I do know that."

Anand folded his hands on the table and said " so I heard that you are a very good interior designer. I would like to decorate my apartment. It is a surprise for my wife as a 50^th wedding anniversary present. I hired an interior designer before you but he did'nt do a very good job and did not impress me with his designs. So what can your designs have to impress me?"

Riya thought for a moment and asked "can you tell me how is your wife's character?"

Anand is taken aback for a moment but he replied by saying that his wife was simple and a perfect life partner. She is a loving mother and spent 50 years tolerating him and the late nights he put to make his company successfully. She is an excellent cook and loves nature especially birds. Hearing him talk with so much love and respect for his wife in his voice riya realizes that he is not arrogant but a caring and loving individual. After anand told everything about his wife riya then asks about his character. Anand is now curious as to why riya would ask such questions. After telling about what he thought about himself, riya asks for a pen and paper. She draws a rough outline of the 3-bedroom apartment hearing the description from his manager. She asks about the outside view of the apartment and what is surrounding it. she then shows the drawing to anand. Riya says " the living room can be medium green with white sofa..." and she went on. Anand is impressed with her designs. He agrees to all of her points but puts forward the suggestion for using a particular company for painting his apartment. Riya agrees to it as it saves the job of searching for painters. Inspite of riya's refusal, anand insisted in accompanying riya for buying furniture and other items. Finally he made riya agree to his argument by saying "it is a gift to my wife for being my strength for 50 years. I want to make sure that I make her dream come true by decorating our house with my own hands." Anand's manager told that they had a meeting to attend. After agreeing to meet tomorrow at his apartment to see the outlay anand and his manager left. inspite of anand insisting that riya have something before leaving and told the hotel manager to put the bill on his credit charge. Riya did'nt feel like having anything so she ordered coffee for herself. Hearing 2 chairs scrap on the table behind her she heard someone say "oye shera, what shortcut you were saying to get rich quickly." Riya almost spilled out her coffee by hearing the voice of the person she has been searching for say "by conning someone out of their money."

Chapter 5b

Riya turned to see the person she searches for walk away with 2 guys. She sees the bangle on his hand and becomes confused as whether it is who she thinks it is. she decided to follow him. She immediately told the waiter the room number and casually asks "umm, it seems that those 3 people who went were my friends. But I could'nt give them a surprise. Could you please give me their room number so that I can go and surprise them?" the waiter shows reluctance but seeing the 500 rupee note held discreetly in riya's hand he agreed and told "mam, they are in room no.103. hope they like your surprise." Riya smiles and paid the waiter 500. she went to the lift and prays fervently to her devi maiyya all the way to the first floor that who she sees is true. After reaching the 1^st floor she locates the room no.103. she stands in front of the door having no idea how to go about now. As she stands lost in thought, she notices the door is going to open. Immediately she hides at the entrance of the next room. she takes her mobile out and puts it on silent. Hearing voices at the entrance of the door, she held mobile which has a front camera. She starts walking in the opposite direction holding her camera as if she is trying to find a signal.she positions the camera a little to her right and stops there. She captures the image and immediately left from there. In the lift she sees the image and her eyes get moist. It is her arjun sir, but he looks completely different in his jacket. He still exhibited the power and aura she feels around him. She then zooms on arjun's face and finally recognizes his expression. This expression of his she has seen whenever they were on an undercover mission. His expression relives nothing but the look in his eyes shows that the cat has got the milk. After coming out of the reception, she zooms in on the other 2 guys and concludes that the curly haired guy must be working with arjun. As she zooms in on the other guy and wonder what he has done, she hears her name called out. looking up she sees mr agarwal coming towards her.

Arjun and karan after finishing how to con with makhrachand, went into the lift. Karan said "wow, shera. Your plan is working. Cat got the milk." Arjun replies "work is not over karan. Don't be so happy. We have to still con this person." karan says "arre shera, why worry when karan and shera is here? We will con this person and get that money back. Its time this person gets a taste of his own medicine." The lift opens and they come into the lobby. Arjun sees a girl standing in the lobby with her head bent into the phone. He wonders what she is doing so much into the mobile. He noticed her when he was talking with them that she was standing on the same floor and looked as if she is not getting the signal in her mobile. Karan and arjun walk out of the hotel and headed towards the car when arjun stops.

Kar: what happened shera? You are looking tensed.

Arj:while we were talking in the lobby did you notice a girl walking in the opposite direction and holding her mobile as if trying to get a signal?

Kar: yeah, I did.

Arj: she came out of the room which is a little ahead of makhrachand room. and the way she is angling her mobile it seemed as if her mobile had a front camera and she is taking our pictures.

Kar: okay I am not getting your point.

Arj: karan she came out of that room at the exact same minute we were talking with makhrachand. What if she recognized makhrachand in one of the other cons he pulled and considers us his accomplices.

Kar: oh god!then our whole plan is ruined. we have to find her quick before she goes to the police or worse comes into the hands of that makhrachand.

Chapter 6

She is hovering over her holding a burning stick and says "so sad. I have enjoyed playing with you but now your journey ends here. May your soul get peace." And sets fire to where she is lying.

Riya wakes up with a jerk. Her breath comes out in spurts. She immediately takes her asthma pump and inhales it. Slowly her breathing becomes normal. Riya keeps the pump on the table and sits at the edge of the bed. She gets up quickly and falls almost flat on her face. She uses the wall to steady herself. Slowly she cautiously stands up again. She leans against the wall closing her eyes. She remembers how Mr agarwal was surprised to see her at the hotel but she quickly gave an explanation of how she did'nt know where the apartment is and wanted the addressThey agreed to meet at the hotel at 8am before heading out to the apartment. . Although riya refused but anand insisted at dropping her home. She walks to the full length mirror in the room. she sees a girl who is very thin and looks really fragile. she observes that none of her marks are seen. She looks at her legs and remembers 8 months back, the condition in which they were in. Removing, her hair from her left shoulder she slightly moves her shirt. A round mark is visible at the shoulder the sign of a bullet that went through. She stares at the mark for sometime and then covers it up. She remembers arjun s band and wonders how much scars he covers.

Next morning,

She reaches the hotel. Seeing her watch she curses herself because she had skipped breakfast to reach the hotel early and now her stomach is making grumbling song. Seating herself at therestaurant she decided to have her breakfast since it is still half an hour before the meeting with mr agarwal. She did'nt notice the waiter signal to a person with a jacket showing that she is here. She looks at the menu her mind on whether they would be here today. Hearing chair scraping beside her and someone seating, her head shot up to tell that person that the seat is reserved. Her eyes widened seeing the person seating there.

Kar: hi

Riya stares at him unable to answer.

Kar: I know I am so handsome that girls keep staring at me.

This cracked a smile from her and she said "so what is a guy like you doing over here?"

Kar: you see I always believe that a girl especially a beautiful girl like you should never sit alone. So I came to give company.

Riya leaned forward and said "do you flirt like this with every girl you see."

Kar: no only with a beautiful person like you.

Riya laughed after what seems like a long time for her. karan observed her and saw how her laugh lighted up her eyes with her dimple smile. She is beautiful karan could say that but somewhere he felt that she suffered also. She looks fragile yet strong. he did'nt know why she took their photo but he hopes that she took it so she can contact them.

Kar: so are you waiting for someone?

A voice said from behind him said "yes, she is waiting for someone."

Karan turned to see anand standing with his hands folded in front of him. karan decided it is time for him to bolt because mr agarwal had recognized him although karan had hoped he would'nt. But before karan could think of an excuse riya said "oh mr agarwal you are just in time to meet my childhood friend" Karan and anand looked at her with an astonished expression while she smiles at them. anand recovers first and said "piya, are you sure he is your childhood friend? " riya replied "why are you asking such a question mr agarwal?. Of course I am sure. He is my childhood friend and is going to help me in setting up your house." Anand looks suspiciously at karan and says "you know riya you should never take a person at face value. Whether he is a friend or even someone unknown." Riya says "mr agarwal, sometimes it takes a whole lifetime to trust a person and sometimes just a few moments are just sufficient to gain that trust." Karan looks to see riya look at him with a soft and trustful expression at her face. He could'nt say anything just stare at her with a lump in his throat. Arjun observes this from where he is with a stone expression. Karan's thoughts broke with anand clearing his throat and saying "well piya since he is your childhood friend and is going to help you decorate my apartment , won't you tell me his name? After all we are going to make an acquaintance." Riya and karan thought "uh oh, now we are in trouble."
