Arakshi SS: Mere Humsfar

Part 9:

Disclaimer: The Characters in my story are inspired from the show but the way the react to different situations are purely my imagination. Any resemblance is purely coincidental.

Arjun could do nothing but agree to what Saakshi had said. He very well knew he could not take care of himself alone but was too egoistic to accept it. He had also started to feel all the more lonely after Saakshi had left him to himself after that insensitive outburst of his. He knew he was wrong and had insulted her endlessly. She had always taken care of him probably as a well wisher and friend and been there for him whenever he needed her. It was because of his jealousy or insecurity or the feeling that there was somebody else more dear and close to her than him made him say those things to her. He could still not point out to clearly to himself why he cared and was affected so much by her actions. Why was he not able to see her close to anybody else but him? Questions were many but answers seemed to be nonexistent at the moment.

Saakshi was in her own thoughts. She had kept her personal life under wraps till date. None in ETF knew about her life except Shree. Now Arjun will come to know about the existence of Shristhi and everyone in the ETF will know eventually. She had never let anyone know Shristhi's existence as it would put her life in danger. She wanted her daughter who was her lifeline to safe. She never doubted anyone's credibility in ETF but their very job had its fair share of risks and dangers. She was also not ready to face the questions regarding her haunted past. She had taken a two week off from Sameer citing personal reasons so that she could spend some quality time with her daughter. Now the unexpected events had turned the tables and had to bring Arjun to her residence and take care of him. The sudden stop of the vehicle brought her out of her thoughts and she found that they had reached Arjun's lodge. She had asked the taxi driver to go to Arjun's lodge before her place so that she could pick up his clothes and other basic items. Arjun just saw that they had reached the lodge and was surprised.

Arjun (Sarcastically): Mujhe to laga ki tum mujhe aapne saath aapne ghar le jaa rahi ho? Par mujhe nahi patha tha ki tum mere saath lodge mein rahne waali ho?

Saakshi: Oh really. Very funny ACP Arjun. Woh kya hain na mere kuch standards hain mein aise kandi jagah par nahi rahthi aapki tarah. Jaise meine pehle hi kaha tha hum mere ghar hi jaa rahe hain. Hum yahan sirf tumhare kapde aur kuch zaroori cheezoon ko lene aaye hain. Samajhe Mr Arjun.

Saying that she went inside and got his room key from the reception and went up to his room. Arjun had to admit that he was very much impressed by her insight to his needs. She had always taken care of him from the moment she had stepped into ETF. It was always him who had wronged her.

After about twenty minutes she came out of the lodge with a small bag in her hands and got into the taxi . She gave the directions to the driver to her place. Soon they reached her place and it was a small single house in a sparsely populated area. She got down from the taxi and unlocked the door of her house and supported him to get down as he had hurt his back. She paid the taxi and they entered the house and he felt like he was back home after a long time. He had seated himself in the sofa and was struck with his thoughts. He used to come to her house to drop her home when they worked late night and have dinner with her. But now it seemed like a distant memory as it was almost one month that he had been to her place as he had distanced himself from her after his insensitive outburst. He felt an unknown warmth and content as he stepped into the confines of her house. It was probably because of the feeling that it was place where he had felt someone care genuinely for him after a long time. He had to admit to at least to himself that he was happy that he was back here with her though the circumstances were bit different. Saakshi's voice broke his train of thoughts.

Part 9(Continued):

Saakshi: Arjun tum chaho tho uss room mein jaakar rest kar saakthe ho.

Arjun: Nahi abhi ke liye mein yahi teek hoon.

Saakshi: Jaisa tum chaho. Mein tumhare liye kaana lekar aathi kyunki tumme kaana kaane ke baad waqt par davayi bhi leni hain.

Arjun just nodded and she gave him the TV remote and moved towards the kitchen. He switched on the television and started watching the news updates. She came out of the kitchen after about half an hour with his food and gave it to him. He started eating it silently and was relishing every bit of it. She was and had always been a very fine cook. She had a sought of magic in her hands that the food she cooked was tasty and delicious. He had always relished the food she prepared but never admitted that it was one of the things he was badly missing when he had distanced himself from her. Soon he completed his food and she gave him tablets and asked him to rest.

When she took him to the room she had given him to stay till he was in her place, he found every single neatly in place and his dresses had already found their rightful places in the wardrobe. He went inside the bathroom and changed into comfortable tee-shirt and track pants and lied down in the bed. He slept sooner than he thought he would due to heavy dosage of medicines that had been prescribed.

She had come out after leaving him in his room to set Shristhi's room ready. She cleaned the room and changed the curtains and bedspreads. She made the room ready exactly the way her daughter would like. Shree had called her a while back to inform that they would reach home by six in the evening. She completed all the chores at her house and sat down at the sofa exhausted holding a small portrait in her hands. She moved her fingers over the portrait as if feeling the person in flesh and bones. Tears started flowing from her eyes as her hands lingered on the frame.

Saakshi (To herself Crying): Aaj bhi mein tume bahot miss karthi hoon Prem. Mein aaj bhi maan nahi payi hoon tum aab nahi rahe. Tumme un logon ne mere aakoon ke saamane maara tha aur mein kuch bhi nahi kar paayi. Tumse hi meri zindagi ki har rishta tha. Tum the tho meri duniya tha meri zindagi thi, Aab tumhare bina in saabka koyi matlab nahi. Mein zindagi bar khudko maaf nahi kar pavoongi beta. Ek maa farz nahi niba paayi mein.Mere yeh viswas tha woh tumme zaroor bacha lega. Par aisa nahi hua. Mere aand vishwas ne tumhari zindagi cheenli. I am sorry beta. I miss you a lot. Mama misses you a lot beta.

Saying that she hugged the photo frame of a four year old cute and bubbly kid to her heart and closed her eyes. She vowed to herself for the nth time that she would not let anything harm her Shristhi as now she was her world. Soon tiredness and weariness got the better of her and she drifted to sleep.

Nearly an hour passed and Arjun woke up from the sleep. He was not used to sitting idle at one place for long time and was getting bored high time. It had not even half a day and he was getting bored and how the hell was he going to spend a week doing literally nothing. This thought had started haunting him big time. He slowly got up from the bed and walked to the hall slowly. He saw Saakshi curled up in the sofa hugging a photo frame to her heart and sleeping. Her face had become pink and fluffy due to continuous crying and tears were rolling from her eyes even in the sleep. He was shaken to say the least by this state of hers. What had happened with her that had made this head strong and courageous lady cry like this? Whose frame was she hugging like her very life depended on it. He had moved and settled himself beside herself before he could stop himself. He moved his hands slowly towards her face and started wiping the tears softly and tenderly. His touch woke her up from the unexpected short nap she was in and was shocked to roots by his caring gesture. Call it a spur of the moment or years of loneliness or yearning for care someone to call her own she became highly vulnerable at that instant due to this small concern of his. That actions of his had broke the hell she was holding for years and she suddenly hugged him tightly and rested her head on his chest and cried her heart out. He was shocked by this action of hers initially but let her to be for the moment. He was gently patting her back and consoling her.

A small thud nearby brought her back to senses and was shocked beyond wits to see her in his arms. She withdrew herself a bit more harshly than she intended and straightened herself. Now what will she tell him if he ask her the reason for her sudden breakdown.

Saakshi: I am sorry Arjun. I am really sorry. I didn't intend to...

She couldn't complete her sentence but seeing in his eyes she could comprehend he understood her state and wouldn't question her regarding her action. She kept the frame that she was holding carefully in the drawer. She told him that she would prepare tea for him and disappeared into the kitchen. Arjun was again struck in his thoughts as to what had made her this week and vulnerable? The sudden ring of the doorbell brought him out of the trance and he got up to go and open the door. He opened the door and saw a cute five year old girl wearing a knee length pink color frock holding a teddy bear. He found the girl very cute and beautiful. As soon as she saw him she ran to him and hugged him.

Shristhi: Papa Papa. Aap aa gaye aapko path hai Shree ne na aap ko bahoot miss kiya. I love you papa. Aap mujhe kabhi chodkar math jana. I love you.
