ArAkshi SS: I'll be there for you(?) CH4 PG13 - Page 10

I honestly don't like this chapter, this is the reason I don't write multichapter fics, it really drives me crazy...

"kam se kam abh wo mujhse baat to kar raha hai, at least through the phone. But I do know that we can't go back the way we were. There's been to much said, and done. And i can't really expect him to raise another man's child now can I?" Sakshi told Arjun, they were on their way to his place, they always ended the week with a cup of hot cutting chai and some discussions on whatever it was that was bothering them.
"Hmm, lekin yeh shuruwaat to hai na?" Arjun said while watching the road. "Waise bhi abhi almost one month hogaya hai, do you think you guys will get back together? Waise toh I think yeh best hai."

"Best? Kis ke liye Arjun? I did love him, maine socha tha ke main usse shadi karungi, uske bachche ki maa banungi aur ab? I'm three months pregnant. Woh bhi akele."
"Tum akeli nahi ho Sakshi." he told her, almost biting out his answer.

"Haan, lekin kabhi kabhi yeh ehsaas hota hai Arjun," she said and turned to look out of the window, it was storming today. 'Hah, the weather is portraying my inner storm I guess' she thought.
"Hmm, isiliye aaj main aaj tumhe thoda zyada jaldi leke aya hoon ghar." Arjun said as he parjed the car in front of his house.
"Kyun?" Sakshi asked him, but he only gave her a small smile in answer and quickly exited his car. She sat there flabbergasted, looking at him as he came to open her door.
After they entered his home he asked her if she wanted to have something to drink or eat. She declined, the conversation in the car had really peaked her interest. She was dying to know what he had planned.

Arjun went and still got her a glass of juice. As she took a sip she asked him: "Abh bataoge ke tum car mein kiss cheez ke baare mein baat karrahe the? After all it's only 4pm, usually we leave after 7."
Arjun looked her in the eyes, then gave a small nod. He took her glass and put it on the table, grabbing her hand he took her up the stairs and to a room.
While walking towards the room he said:" waise mujhe doubt tha ke kaunsa kamra theak rahega, fir maine socha ke tumhe is kamre mein zyada sahulat milegi. There's an attached bathroom, and a big closet as well."
"Arjun, tum kya keh rahe ho? Meri to kuchh samajh mein nahi aa raha." Sakshi asked him, confused about what was happening.

Arjun opened the door to the most beautiful babyroom. "Wh.. Oh my god!" Sakshi said as she put her hands in front of her mouth. She entered the room trying to take it all in. The walls were a light lavender colour with a bit of green through it. There was a small mahogany crib in the middle of the room, and then on the side there was a changing table. There was a rocking chair in the corner, all of the furniture had the same colour. On the wall where the rocking chair was there was a big walldrawing of Winnie the Pooh and his friends. There were also loads of big stuffed toys in the room.

Sakshi looked around amazed, "Yeh sab tumne kab kiya?"
"Jis din tumne mujhe bataya ke tum pregnant ho. I know ke maine us din theak nahi kiya tumhare saath, lekin by the time we finished work I had calmed down. I went to Babies r us and started looking for stuff we would need. But is it good? Tumhe passand to hai na?"
"Arjun, it is beautiful. You've bought every single thing a child might need. Maine to abhi tak kuchh nahi liya, I'm still on the lookout for a larger place. Can't really live in a two room flat now can I?"

"Haan, maine tumhe ussi ke baare mein poochhna tha, challo ek minute." saying so he took her out of the room and to the one straight next to it. As they entered she looked surprised, the room only had the bare minimums, a bed, nightstand a big closet, and the window, it went from the roof down to the floor. It looked out on a beautiful garden.
Arjun talking brought her out of her reverie. "I only put in the main essentials, baaki sab to tumhe khud decorate karna padhega. I didn't really know what you wanted exactly. Waise is room ke saath master bathroom bhi attached hai, on your left. And the second door on your right hand side is an entry to the nursery."
"Kya? Main kyun? Arjun, main yahan pe nahi rehne waali."
"Kyun nahi? You know I have another place in Bandra as well, aur jab I found out that you are in fact looking for a bigger place, this made most sense. And since I happen to be your landlord, guess what? No rent, which leaves you and our baby with more money. You can't expect me to leave you out in the cold Sakshi."

"Arjun, tum pagal ho gaye ho. I have been living on my own for years now, I can provide for myself as well. And I will be able to provide for our child as well. Aur waise bhi, you can't think that I will tell you to leave your home Arjun. Waise bhi, I've hired someone who is helping me find a bigger place."
"Sakshi, why would you want to go out, find a new place, fir tum usko redecorate karo gi. Jab ke yahan tumhe sab kuchh mil raha hai. Aur waise bhi, I'm staying here. Hum dono milke apne bache ki parvarish karenge."

Sakshi turned and looked at him, stunned. "Nahi." saying so she left the room.

"Waise Sakshi, I read on this site that kids who grow up in a two parent home are more successful than kids who grew up in single parent homes."

"hmm okay, lekin tu bhi to ek single parent home mein palla badha hai na Shree," Chhotu said.

"Ohh fir toh yeh ek reason hai ke mujhe Arjun ka proposal accept kar lena chahiye." Sakshi said jokingly, making Chhotu laugh and Shree look unsure of this was a compliment or an insult. "Lekin main khud bhi apna aur apne bachche ka khayal rakh sakti hoon."

"Lekin akele kyun Sakshi, jabke I am offering to help you with it." Arjun said entering the conference room.
"Haan, toh maine kaunsa manna kiya hai Arjun,I accept your help, lekin iske liye we do not live together." Sakshi said.
"Lekin I do not want to miss anything of our childs growing up. I want to be there when he or she takes it first step, says its first word. Even when he or she cries in the middle of the night."

"Sakshi, this has to be another point on why you have to say yes." Ayesha told Sakshi, who in turn just looked at her cup as if there was something interesting going on in there.

"Achha, mujhe pata chal gaya hai ke tum itna inkaar kyun kar rahi ho. I think it's time we got married." Arjun said entering her cabin.
"Haan haan, andar ao, mujhe to koi kaam hi nahi hai na." Sakshi remarked sarcastically, before he could say anything she started talking in a more serious tone. "Agar tum yeh poochhne aye ho ke maine kya decide kiya hai, let me tell you I don't know. I understand that you don't want to miss out, lekin iska matlab yeh to nahi hai ke hum... Wait tumne abhi shaadi kaha? Arjun? Kya kaise?" she stopped talking when he took out a small box from inside his shirt. 'Iski shirt hai yah bottomless pit.' Sakshi thought, but her thoughts were silenced when Arjun started talking.

"Isse pehle ke tum kuchh kaho, maine yeh faisla soch samajh ke liya hai. I have been thinking of this since that night we spent together. I realised that it wasn't even about the sex, although 'it' was the best thing ever happened to me. It was more like I found that missing piece of me. Like I was this incomplete puzzle, and you were that final piece which completed me. Main uss raat tumse baat karne upar bhi aya, lekin you told me that you didn't want it to be anything more than that."
"Arjun main.." She started to say, but he stopped her.

"Main samajh sakta hoon Sakshi, I already told you that I don't want a family, raise a child, and I didn't want to, at least not until we spent that night together. I love you, more than a friend. Have for a long time. When that bomb was tied to you I wanted to do anything and everything in my power to keep you safe. Mujhe to tabh hi samajh jana chahiye tha, but maine khud ko samjhaya ke yeh sab main shock ki wajah se soch raha hoon. Aur abh, all I can think about is being with you and our baby. I want that house with the white picket fence, with a bunch of kids." he said nervously. She smiled as there were tears streaming down her face.
"Lekin tunhare ghar ke paas to koi white picket fence nahi hai." she said.
"Nahi hai to banva doonga." he said as he finally got down on one knee. "I love you Sakshi Anand, I've loved you for longer than I know, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?"

Sakshi could only nod. "Achha, does thus mean "Arjun yes, main tumse shaadi karungi?"" he asked in his best interpretation of her voice, making her laugh.
"ACP Arjun Rawte, I do love you too, aur haan main tumse shaadi karungi, at least if you promise to never ever try and make a girly voice ever again!"

"Usne haan kehdia!" he screamed as he quickly opened the box and took out a white and yellow gold diamond ring he had bought weeks ago. Just as he was going to slide it onto her finger the door opened and Sameer, Chhotu, Liza Ayesha and Shree entered
"Congrats guys!" Shree said.
"Finally!" was all Ayesha had to say.
"You're right Ayesha," Sameer said as he gave Arjun a pat on his back.

"Toh shaadi ki tareekh kya hai?" Chhotu asked as he quickly shook hands with Arjun and gave a hug to Sakshi
Sakshi shrugged her shoulder and looked at Arjun.
"Abhi to mangni hui hai, lekin mere liye toh koi bhi date chalegi."

Sakshi turned to Ayesha and Liza, " I hope that you guys have lots of vacationdays left, because there is hardly enough time between now and 12th of December."

"12 December?" Shree asked, "Tumne aise hi koi date pick karli? Does it have any special meaning?"
"Nope, but it will soon have one, it will be the day Arjun and I get married. Aur abhi we have a bit more than a month left, enough time for Ayesha and Liza to help me organize it. And the most important thing, I won't look fat in my wedding dress!"
"Kya, that is your main concern? If you will fit into your wedding dress?" Chhotu asked shocked.
"Haan, aur nahi to kya socha tumne? This is every womans main concern." Ayesha said teasing him.

"Did you guys get all the sherwanis?" Sakshi asked as she walked to her car, she still had some shopping left and their wedding was next week.

"Yes, and I also got the hall for the reception." Arjun said while he quickly went and got into the ETF SUV, they had been on a case, but he had forbidden Sakshi to come with them, he didn't think it was safe for her.

"Okay, I'm on my way to the caterers, I just have to finalize the food. And after that I'll go and get the dress, I'm just hoping it won't have to be altered, I already can't fit in my regular clothes properly."

"I'm sure you won't have to, aur agar hua bhi to kya hai, after all you are carrying my child, and if his ego is as big as mine, well he/she'll need all the space in your tiny tummy." he said joking, making her laugh.
"Arjun, tum log kab tak waapis aoge?" she asked as she got to her car.

"Abhi to around 2-3 hrs ki drive rehti hai." Arjun said.
"Ohh okay, you make sure you get back safe and sound, I'll have dinner ready. Challo rakhti hoon, gotta go, love you!"
"I love you too."

"Ahhhww... Ouch!" she heard Shree's voice, she had to laugh as she heard Arjun starting to give the poor guy another SYS.
"Sakshi," she heard someone say her name from behind, she gave a small jump and turned around.

"Oh my god, Vishaal!" she said as she turned and came face to face with him.
"So how are you? And the baby?" he asked her.
"Main to theak hoon, baby bhi theak hai."
"Achha, tum to bilkul glow karrahi ho, I guess its true, pregnant women really have a glow around them." Sakshi smiled at his words, " Waise main tumse pehle bui milna chah raha tha, but I couldn't."
"Oh that's okay, I am once again really sorry Vishaal, maine tumhare saath bahut burra kiya."
"It's okay, sachi, maine tumhe kab ka maaf kardiya hai, I really wish for you to be always happy, even if that happiness isn't with me. And also I heard congratulations are in order, maine sunna ke tum aur ACP Rawte shaadi kar rahe hain. Waise mujhe mera invite abhi tak nahi mila." he said
"Ohh woh, maine tumhe invite nahi bheja, I just thought ke humare beach yeh sab hone ke baad tumhe invite bhejna kuchh sahi nahi lagga." She said, embarrassed by the fact that she might've hurt him again.
"Main mazak karraha tha, even though I'm happy for both of you, mujhe nahi lagta ke I could watch you get married to another man."

"Oh.." they stood there, trying to find their way out of the awkward silence that surrounded them.
"Achha, waise khushi hui tumse milke Sakshi, waise main lunch karbe ke liye jaa raha tha, you want to join me?"
"Mujhe bhi khushi hui Vishaal, lekin abh mujhe nikalna chahiye, bahut kaam baki hai, aur main office mein lunch karlungi." she said.

"Oh okay, challo, I'll see you later fir. Enjoy your wedding and agar tumhe kabhi bhi meri zarurat padhe, befikar hoke mujhe call karna." saying so he gave her a small hug.
"Thanks Vishaal, and it was nice meeting you again." Sakshi replied to him.

When he walked away, she sat in her car and drove off with a smile on her face, there was a load off of her shoulders, and she could finally move on without feeling guilt.

Sakshi drove off to write a new beginning in her book with Arjun by her side.
