Epilogue - Stupid Nymph
She just stood there and not even one tear left her eyes because she knew he needed his time. She knew he loved her, but she also knew his fears, so she had to let him go. She also knew he would be back someday for her. She just hoped it wouldn't be too late. She turned around and their ways parted. She knew they would meet someday, but she just didn't know when these parted ways will meet again.

He had told her that he would pick her up for the party that made her heart go racing. She started to feel self-conscious. She didn't even care what she was going to wear until his message beeped on her cellphone. She was such an organized person, but at that moment her room was a mess. Her roomed looked like a teenager's room. She changed into so many dresses, but still she wasn't satisfied with one. She held her head and flopped on the bed. After debating for so long, she remembered Sameer's favorite color was blue. She jumped up and started searching for the blue dress in the pile. She showered dressed up, straightened her hair and did light make up.
The moment the door bell of her apartment rang, her breath also fastened. She opened the door and she got lost in those light brown orbs. She wanted that moment to freeze right there. Sameer looked so handsome that she almost decided not to go to the party and hide him from any other single girl out there. She blinked and scolded herself mentally for being jealous. He smiled at her and held the door so she could walk out. That smiled didn't even fall for one second from his lips. He followed Aayesha out as she locked the door. Just like a gentleman he opened the car door for her and let her in and closed the door as she settled in. While driving, he kept on taking glances at her. She noticed and blushed like a young schoolgirl.
Throughout the party their eyes kept on finding each other. When Arjun asked Sakshi for dance, Sameer found an opportunity for himself too and stole Aayesha from Liza and brought her to the dance floor. They danced as they got lost in their own world. The moment the lights dimmed down, Sameer slowly pulled her away from the crowd and they came to the garden.
"Do you wanna sneak out?" He asked her as they watched the people in party enjoy themselves.
Her eyes flashed with excitement and she nodded. He held her hand and they left the party. He drove for while with her sitting in passenger seat while telling him about her childhood and college days. After so long, he genuinely felt happy. His happiness doubled when he realized he made her smile. His heart swelled with happiness the way he made her happy. They stopped by a cozy cafe. She sat in the patio while he went to grab two cups of coffee. He came and sat next to her as he handed her the coffee cup. They sat there for a while and enjoyed the serene silence between them as they savored the sweet taste of the coffee.
She felt his gaze on her and she turned around. He was staring at intently. She got caught in his eyes too until the cold breeze made her shiver. She looked away and blushed as well. She didn't know falling in love would be this... Girly. She had never been like that. Feeling like that was embarrassing for her in past, but now it made her happy. She smiled and shook her head. She was caught up in her own thoughts until she felt something on her shoulders. She turned to check, it was his suit blazer. She looked at him and he just smiled. He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer to him. Her mouth fell open as she stared at him in shock. He chuckled at her reaction and just sipped his coffee.
"You look absolutely gorgeous." He stared at her lovingly.
She thanked him and just stared at the sky because she felt shy. She couldn't believe she was sitting there with him. Few days ago she couldn't even imagine him by her side, but tonight it was their night. She closed her eyes and took in the whole situation. She couldn't be happier.
"I am sorry for all those times when I made you cry." He whispered. She looked at him as he looked down to his shoes. "I shouldn't have reacted that way. I don't know why I was scared. Maybe because I had lost two people close to me, so I was scared of losing you too. I swear I missed you so much."
"Then why did you run away?" She raised her eyebrows.
"To confirm something." His lips slightly curved up when he said that.
"To confirm what?" She looked at him suspiciously.
"To confirm and realize that..." He kissed her cheek. "I love you."
She literally froze in her spot while he just laughed at her reaction.

She hardly got the sleep after Rathore's confessions. The moment she got home, she was grinning crazily. She couldn't even sleep because of that. After so much effort when she was able to fall sleep, her phone rang. She huffed and rubbed her eyes to see the time and name of the caller. It was three in the morning and Arjun was calling him. She got worried.
"Is everything alright?" She asked immediately after answering the call.
"Yeah! Everything is alright. I am standing right outside of your house. I need to talk to you." He replied.
She got confused, but she said she'd be right there. She got out of the bed and went to open the door. He was leaning against the wall, staring off in the space. She stared at him from head to toe, just to be sure that he was not hurt. She let him in and they sat in the living room. She noticed his eyes were red and he was looking tired.
"What happened?" She asked.
"I am leaving." He simply responded.
"Huh?" She looked at him with confusion.
"I am leaving the city and ETF." He muttered.
"WHAT?" He stood up in shock and blurted.
"I need to leave. I have hurt too many people. I don't want to bring pain to anyone anymore. I don't want to hurt anyone, especially not her. Rathore also remembers the painful memories of the past just by my mere presence there. I don't want to him to feel sad anymore." He answered in low voice.
"But-" She wanted to say something, but he just shook his head. She sat back on the couch and sighed. "Did you at least tell her how you feel about her?"
"No." He shook his head. "I just couldn't because I knew if I told her about my feelings, she would come looking for me. I just want her to stay away from me. I just want her to let me go. If I confessed to her, I wouldn't be able to let her go. So I just couldn't tell her anything even though I was dying to let her know how much I love her." He covered his face with his hands.
"You are being selfish. You know how she feels for you, don't you? So how can you expect her to let you go? You need to consider her feelings too. All the things she had done for you are enough to prove how she feels for you. She didn't do everything for you just because she thought it was fun. I know you are scared that she'll get hurt by standing beside you, but you can't just leave her like that because of your fear." She almost yelled at him.
"So what would you do, if you were in my place?" He questioned her and she stayed quiet because she knew she'd do the same in order to protect Rathore.
"So where are you going?" She asked as they stood up.
"I am going back to my hometown. I miss my parents. I hope dad will forgive me at least this time." His voice sounded hopeful.
"He will." She hugged me.
"Thank you Aayesha for being such an amazing friend." He hugged her back. "Thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for always knocking sense in me. Thank you." He said sincerely and smiled as they break apart. "Bye." He turned around to leave.
"By the way he confessed to me last night." She said as she blushed.
"Really?" He genuinely smiled and she nodded. "I am really happy for you." He gave her thumbs up.
"So when will I see you again?" She asked and hoped he'd say he would be back in few days, but in vain.
"When you send me your wedding card." He chuckled and turned around. He was halfway through the hallway when she called him.
"Arjun." It was first time she had ever called him by his name. He turned around and she hit him with a paper ball. "I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too Lady Dabangg." He chuckled and left.

It had been a week and a half since his departure. It felt as if she had lost her soul. Her wide smile was nowhere to be seen. There were dark circles under her eyes due to lack of sleep. She missed him terribly. She missed his anger, his sharp sight, his brilliant skills, she missed living with him and she missed how he used to call her 'Miss. Sakshi Anand.' It seemed as if she had lost part of herself. She just couldn't find any way to be happy without him. Everything reminded her of him. There were so many times when she went to his cabin just to feel his presence. She just regretted one thing. She just wished that she had said those three words to him that night when he dropped her off.
Rathore observed Sakshi as she stared gloomily at the seat where Arjun used to sit. He couldn't even tell by looking at Sakshi that she was once a very hyper person. She often smiled, but all of them knew she was hiding her broken heart. He could see the emptiness in her eyes. She missed him. He himself was shocked when he found the resignation letter on the conference table. To certain extent he blamed himself for Arjun's decision. He sighed as he dismissed everyone. Sakshi left with Shree, Chotu and Liza. While Aayesha stayed back.
"Do you think he left because of me?" He asked her as she took her seat.
"Kind of." She replied. He looked at him with confusion. "He thinks if he is around, you can't forget about what happened. He thinks you hate him. He wanted to reconcile with you, but he didn't know how you would react."
"He should have at least said something." He ran his fingers through his hair.
"If you don't show how you feel, how will the other person know what to do? You never said anything so what do you think he would assume? Your forgiveness is everything to him. Go bring him back."

The moment he got back home, he was already missing everyone... Especially her. He was happy that he could see his family again. He was able to seek forgiveness and blessings from his father. Finally he was able to spend moments of peace with his mother. It had been few weeks and he missed the entire team so much. He missed worked. It seemed as if his life got lost. Every single time his phone rang it seemed as if it was a call for case. He definitely missed her. He missed her smile, her non-stop stupid questions, the khanak of her bangles, and of course the love in her eyes which was for him. Damn he was in love with her.
****
He was sleeping soundlessly when he heard someone opening his room door. The nature of a cop in him initiated him to get up and attack whoever it was, but he remembered he was not in ETF anymore and Sikander was dead so he just turned around and went back to sleep thinking it was his mother. About few minutes later he realized it was a big mistake because he found himself drenched in cold water. He jumped out of bed and shivered. He looked up in anger and just as his eyes fell on the person all the anger vanished it was replaced by shock.
"Rathore?" He said in shock.
"Jee nahi." Rathore shook his head and put the bucket aside. "Your best friend from college, Sameer."
"Huh?" Arjun was just standing there dumbfounded.
"How rude Saale, larkiyon ki tarhan jeene Marne ki kasme khai thi aur ab sab kuch Bhool gaya." Rathore punched him in the stomach. That seemed to bring Arjun out of shock.
"Ruk Saale ab tu dekh." Arjun picked up the bucket which had still water in it.
Rathore ran out of the room and out of the house. Arjun followed him all the way to the beach like the good old days. They kept on chasing each other for a while until both of them used all of their energy. They fell on the sand and started laughing. To the world it seemed just a laugh between two friends, but to them it had cost them years of pain and a precious person. To them this moment was more than anything else. With that laugh they let out all the other emotions they held in for years. Arjun didn't even have to say a word because he knew he found his lost best friends and forgiveness was given to him the moment Rathore stepped in to his house.

She was tired to the point that she thought she would fall at any second. She picked up all the files on the table and organized them. Everyone told her to wait because they would be back in few minute. It had been an hour and so and they had been gone. She looked at her watch and sighed. Finally she gave up and decided to go home and get some sleep because she needed it.
"Impatient, just the way I saw you last time."
She heard that voice she had been dying to hear. She was shocked with happiness that she almost stopped breathing. She just hoped that it was not her mind playing games with her. She just hoped it was not just an illusion. She slowly turned around as she felt a hand on her shoulder. She slowly moved her gaze towards that face and yes, it was him. She was so happy that she didn't have the words to express it. She didn't know what to say to him. She slowly moved her hands towards his face and she just closed her eyes as she felt his features.
"It's you." She whispered as she opened her eyes to his smiling face.
"Yeah it's me." He whispered back as he brushed her hair away from her face.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and slowly sniffled in the crook of his neck. He also hugged her tightly as he closed his eyes. He felt satisfied and complete again. He knew how important she was to him. He was happy and thankful that he could finally tell how he felt.
"I am sorry I left just like that last time." He said as he stepped back. He looked at her and slowly traced the dark circles under her eyes. "But I am back you know... For you." He said as he saw the sparkle in her eyes coming back.
"For me?" She pointed at herself in disbelief.
"Well uhhh a little bit for my work, but mostly for you." He chuckled as he said that. She just lightly punched him on the shoulder.
"See I knew you don't love me." She bit her tongue after she realized what she said. She stiffened and backed up, but he pulled her back towards him and whispered in her ear.
"Who said I don't love you?"
"What?" She said in shocked voice.
"I love you. I love your stupidity, I love your smile, I love your voice, I love your dedication, I love your passion, and I love how you care about everyone. I just simply love you." He confessed to her as she stared at him with moist eyes. He cupped her face in hands as tears rolled down her cheeks, but there was a smile on her face.
"I love you too." She whispered. It was barely audible, but he heard it. "And stop calling me stupid."
"But you are my stupid nymph and I love my Stupid little nymph."
"What if you leave me again?" She asked as she looked in to his eyes.
"Never. Not even if I die." He replied as he kissed her forehead.
Love is not just about sharing joy and happiness. Love is also about sharing each other's pains and accepting each other's past without expecting any perfection.
