Thank you dear friends for all the likes and comments on this OS.

I know that we are all feeling sad that they killed Riya, but may be this was the best solution.

I wanted to post the part 2 of this OS and give it a happy end, to give myself a closure on Ariya.

So here it is, hope you guys like it as much as I liked writing it.

I will miss Ariya for sure.

Part 2

Present.

Riya put her diary aside and stood up. "Thanks guys for listening to me; I am going to my cabin to finish up the reports on the old cases."

Chottu and Shree watched her with worried expressions as she walked towards her cabin, both hoping for things to change for their friend soon.

Riya sat at her desk but she could not focus her attention on her work, instead her mind kept going back to the days she spent in the hospital and the friendship that developed between her and Arjun.

Arjun on the other hand was also having hard time focusing on how to reply to Rathore, he thought he and Riya had been discreet about their relationship but they may not have been able to hide their feeling from the their teammates and friends.

Arjun's mind also replayed the days of Riya's stay in the hospital and start of their friendship.

Flashback

Arjun had returned that evening with Riya's favorite foods to cheer her up but to his disappointment Riya still looked worried about her father and what he would think after his lawyer was turned away.

He hated to see her sad so he handed her his phone, "call your dad if it will make you feel better." For the first time in two weeks, Arjun saw her signature smile bloom on her pink lips and he knew that he had made the right decision.

He moved away to give her privacy to talk to her father, but he didn't take his eyes off of her as she conversed with her dad. Seeing her happy again did something to Arjun that he hadn't felt in a long while. He didn't know what kind of effect Riya was having on him but when he saw her in danger only one thing had kept repeating in his mind, that without Riya in the world his life would be filled with darkness again.

Before Roshni's death he hadn't been a person to believe in god and prayers, but at her insistent he had prayed, but he turned his back on god completely when he failed to answer his prayer to save Roshni.

Riya had woken up some old feelings in him again when the coin she forcefully put in his pocket had saved his life. He still wasn't willing to give in by that one incident but for one second he had thought that may be he does exist. Those feelings resurfaced again as he and his team had rushed Riya to the hospital and this time once again Arjun had turned his back on his beliefs and prayed for Riya.

For whatever reason this time god had answered his prayers and now Arjun vowed to always look out for Riya because he didn't know if god would answer his prayers again. Riya had beat all the odds to survive this ordeal and Arjun felt it was his responsibility to make sure that nothing like this ever happens to her again.

Riya unaware of Arjun's thoughts said goodbye to her father and hung up the phone. She looked at him across the room to thank him but he seemed lost in his thoughts so she just observed him quietly.

Something was very different about him, but she could not pinpoint what it was, she could see that he was less stiff and his features had softened a little, but the determination etched on his face was more pronounced.

Arjun felt her gaze on him and turned slightly to see her staring at him. He walked back to stand beside her bed. "Feel better?"

"Yes, thank you." Riya answered him absently as she gave back the phone.

Arjun took the phone from her hand, "no need to thank me Riya."

Riya looked up to meet his eyes, "actually sir I should be thanking you for more than just letting me use your phone, I should also be thanking you for once again saving my life."

"I didn't do anything Riya, it is you who almost died trying to save so many lives." Arjun took a deep breath before saying what he had wanted to say since she regained consciousness. "Riya I am sorry for ever calling you weak and not good enough to be a ETF officer. You were right when you said that I should never doubt a women's abilities."

Riya shook her head, stunned at what she just heard. She had already realized that under the arrogance and attitude hid a very complex yet fair man but today he proved her right too by acknowledging that he had been wrong in his chauvinistic opinion; in all fairness though she couldn't let him take the blame for his opinion of her.

"Actually sir you were not wrong in thinking of me as weak, you were right when you said I feared too much. It is you who gave me the strength to do what I needed to do that day. Please don't get me wrong," she said hastily when she saw the guilt flash in his eyes, "I didn't do it to change your opinion of me, but what you had said to me made me realize that you were right about there being a difference between a typical woman and an ETF officer. I realized if I wanted to be a good ETF officer like I have always dreamed of being then I needed to stop thinking like a typical girl."

Arjun was once again amazed by Riya's attitude, she could have gloated at his admission but instead she chose to set him straight, he just shook his head in defeat and gave up on trying to figure her out. He realized it would take more than a lifetime to figure out the mind of a research specialist.

Arjun spent all his free time at Riya's bedside getting to know the real Riya Mukerjee and to his surprise he discovered they had many things in common. The more time he spent with her the more he liked her.

Few days after she called her father, Riya suffered a setback and no one knew the reason for it. Shree had informed Arjun that Riya spiked a fever but doctors were unable to determine what was causing it. They had ordered for immediate blood culture to make sure the bacteria wasn't resistant to the current antibiotics, but the cultures came back negative.

It was Arjun who discovered that the bacteria didn't cause Riya's fever in her system but Riya had to deal with a visit from her stepmother who had been unhappy that Riya called her father and did not take the help that she sent through their lawyer. It was the stress of the situation that had caused her to spike a fever.

Riya had refused to tell him what the problem was, but one of the nurses had informed him that she had a visitor earlier and the woman had informed the nurse that she was Riya's mother so they had granted the woman access to Riya's room. After the incident, Arjun instructed the hospital staff to not let anyone but the ETF team to enter Riya's room.

That night Arjun stayed with Riya the whole night and talked to her about trivial things until she started to respond to him. She finally opened up, but instead of talking about herself, she asked him about his family. To his surprise he told Riya all about his family; once she got the whole truth out of him she told him he shouldn't push his family away but he should embrace their love and care because he was lucky to have a family like his.

Arjun realized that Riya was right about his family after learning about her family. He promised her that he would think about calling his family and letting them know that he was okay to alleviate their worries.

Arjun wanted to do something to help Riya get out the depressive state she got into after the visit from her stepmother. He decided to call her father to let him know of the situation and how important it was for Riya to be stress free in order to get well completely.

Two days later Riya's father came to visit her which improved her health tremendously. Arjun had been glad to see her happy and the smile return to her face. After the visit from her father Riya's health improved rapidly to a point where the doctors allowed her to walk outside for short periods of time. She got tired easily so at first they just walked for a short period then she was ordered back to bed for rest of the day.

On the day of Riya's discharge from the hospital all four male of the ETF team took a stand beside Riya's bed. The doctors had advised Riya to take it easy and to continue with the medication regimen they prescribed for her and to not put herself at risk by consuming anything that could cause her to relapse.

When the four men assured the doctor that they would make sure she didn't do anything that would cause her to relapse Riya was shocked, most especially at Chottu and Shree. She couldn't help but tease them, "are you sure guys? Because if I have to eat healthy that means you also have to eat healthy."

To her surprise they didn't react the way she expected them to. Shree just shrugged his shoulders and gave Arjun a sideway look. "Don't worry Ri, we will get used to your type of very hygienic food, but I don't know about Arjun sir. How will he get through the day without his cutting chai."

One glare from Arjun had made Shree retreat but to their amusement when they went to the office the next day Arjun didn't order his usual cutting chai but drank coffee with them.

After Riya was discharged home Arjun continued to spend all his free evenings with Riya. While he shared everything about Riya about his life there was one aspect of his life that he never mentioned to Riya and that was the years he was with his wife, he never talked about those times with her.

Present

Arjun was brought out of his thoughts on past abruptly when Rathore brought the SUV to screeching halt in front of the ETF office.

"So have you figured out what the problem is between you and Riya? Rathore asked him. Arjun could see Rathore is having fun at his expenses and frowned at him.

Rathore sighed dramatically. "Fine don't tell me what is going on, it's not like we haven't already figured out that there is more than friendship between you and Riya."

Rathore glanced at Arjun to make sure he was listening then continued with what he wanted to say to his friend. "I know you well enough to know that you probably didn't share, with her, the most important part of your life. I even know why you didn't tell her about Roshni, to keep yours and Riya's relationship separate from yours and Roshni's relationship but the very thing you don't want to hurt Riya with is hurting her Arjun. Tell her how you feel about her, let her know that you have made peace with Roshni's death and you are now ready to move forward with your life with her."

Arjun closed his eyes and rested his head back on the headrest; he realized Rathore was right in guessing the cause of Riya's sudden withdrawal from them, especially him. He couldn't blame her for pulling away from him since he was the one who closed her off first, especially the few days before he went after Sikandar.

He hoped he hadn't done too much damaged to their fragile relationship; he realized it was time to take the bull by the horn and confess his feelings to Riya and make up for his stupidity. He sat up straighter then looked at Rathore, "I am taking Riya home, the Mehta case is not too complicated, ask Shree to look into Mehta's and his partner's financial records. More than likely the partner has something to do with Mehta's murder. Let me know if you need us to come in tomorrow morning, otherwise I would like for you to give us a day off to get things sorted out between us."

"I should be lecturing you on asking for time off during an important investigation but for Riya I will grant you the leave. I owe her for brining you back from your self-imposed isolation, just don't mess it up with her." Rathore tried to sound stern but couldn't help the smile that formed on his face at the thought of his friends' happiness.

Arjun didn't reply to Rathore's comment and got out of the car to spring towards the office building. Now that he knew what was wrong with Riya he didn't want to waste time in setting things straight between them. When he didn't see her in the conference room he immediately turned towards her cabin not caring about what Chottu or Shree would think when he openly looked for Riya.

Arjun stopped in the doorway of Riya's cabin and observed her for few moments. He felt a sharp pain in his heart when he saw the tear tracks and the defeated look on her face. He moved towards her when he saw her swipe her hair off of her face impatiently.

Riya swiped the hair out of her eye for what seem like the hundredth time. She, once again, misplaced her hairpins and couldn't find them. She was so occupied with searching for something to hold her hair back that she didn't notice that Arjun was standing next to her chair.

Arjun pulled the red pin out of his pocket and held it out to her. He saw her freeze then look up at him slowly. "I found this in the conference room earlier."

Riya took the pin from his palm as she stood up. "Thanks," she gave him a fleeting smile that didn't reach her eyes.

Arjun took her by the shoulders to turn her to him before she could make an excuse to move away from him. She looked at him in surprise but looked away just as quickly. Arjun cupped her face to make her look at him; he caressed her cheek gently with his thumb then leaned forward and pecked her forehead. "I told Rathore I am going to take you home, they can handle the investigation without us, we have something more important to do."

And there it was Riya thought, it was time to stop hiding her head in the sand and face her fears head on. She nodded her head then turned to get her bag from her desk. They left the ETF office without saying anything. The drive to Riya's apartment was silent with both Arjun and Riya lost in their own thoughts.

Once they were in her apartment, Riya turned to Arjun, "are you hungry? I can make something quick for us." She offered to avoid facing him for little longer.

Arjun held her hand before she could walk towards the kitchen. He didn't want to wait anymore, he wanted to tell her how much he loved her; he needed to sooth the pain that was visible in her eyes when she looked at him.

He walked toward the couch, still holding her hand, and made her sit on the couch. He kneeled in front of her and took both of her hands in his before looking up to meet her eyes. "Riya there is something I need to tell you."

Riya felt her heart race in fear and tried not to cry out in pain. She is sure he is going to tell her he cares for her but doesn't love her. She prayed to god to give her enough strength to not breakdown in front of him. She lowered her gaze to their entwined hands to hide her eyes from him.

Arjun squeezed her hands in reassurance, "Riya please look at me," he pleaded then waited for her to raise her head. He felt her trembling and tightened his hands around her in assurance.

Riya felt Arjun's hands tighten around hers and finally looked up at him. She could not hide what she felt from him anymore and gave up on trying to hide the love she felt for him.

Arjun inhaled sharply when he looked into her eyes. He forgot everything he wanted to say and just reached up and wrapped his arms around her to hug her to him. He wanted to kick himself for not telling her how he felt before he left to take care of Sikandar.

Riya couldn't hold back the sob when Arjun hugged her; she hugged him back and cried out her pain in his arms.

Arjun tightened his arms around Riya when he felt her shoulders shake as she cried. He rubbed her back to sooth her until she stopped crying. Arjun lifted her from the couch then turned to rest his back against the couch with Riya on his lap. He moved her hair away from her face and wiped her tears. "Please forgive me Riya, I didn't mean to hurt you. I thought I was protecting you by not sharing my past with you but now I realize that my silence was, in fact, hurting you and that is the last thing I wanted to do."

Arjun bent to kiss her softly at first then deepened the kiss when he felt her respond to his kiss. He poured all his feelings into the kiss to show her how much he loves her and what she means to him. Arjun promised himself that he will never hurt her again like he has in the past couple of weeks.

Riya also responded in the same way to let him know that she reciprocated his feelings. She forgot all about what she heard when he came back from his mission, she didn't even care that he still loved Roshni, she only knew that it wasn't in her to let him go. She would be happy if he felt half of what she felt for him, but she knew this is more than just caring. His kiss was conveying all his feeling for her. They had kissed in the past, but both of them had held part of themselves back. This time the kiss was not only full on passion but also full of love.

Arjun pulled back slowly when he felt Riya relax into him, he gazed into her eyes, showing her the love he felt for her, "I am in love with you Riya, have been for a while, I should have told you long time ago."

Riya blinked back the tears that formed in her eyes at his words and wrapped her arms around his neck to hug him. "I love you too Arjun, more than my life. Please don't ever leave me because I don't think I will be able to live without you."

Arjun wrapped her in his arms tightly and rocked her back and forth. "Shh..I am not going anywhere Riya, I promise I will always be with you."

It was long time before they were able to release one another; once he was sure that Riya was feeling better he started telling her about Roshni and the years he spent with her. He didn't hold anything back from her and told her everything that happened up to Roshni's death.

He then told her about finally making peace with Roshni's death and saying goodbye to her on the night he returned from capturing Sikandar.

When Arjun finished telling her about that night and his conversation with Rathore sir, Riya realized that she had only heard part of their conversation. Arjun had been telling Rathore that he had fulfilled his promise to avenge Roshni's death but she will always remain in his heart, no one can take her place because she was the one who taught him the meaning of love.

Riya also told him the cause of her distress over the past few days and Arjun reassured her that he did love her; it was impossible not to love her because she made his world bright again.

It was hours before they both stopped talking and decided to get something to eat. Arjun called Rathore while he was waiting for Riya to finish up in the kitchen, "Rathore what happened with the Mehta case?"

On the other side Rathore rolled his eyes, "Once a cop always a cop," he muttered under his breath. "Raute stop worrying about the case for a change, it's all good, you were right it was his business partner who hired the hit man to kill Mehta. We have informed the local police station, they are on their way to pick him up now."

"Okay, I just called to tell you that Riya and I are going to need more than one day off." Arjun said to Rathore.

Rathore didn't hesitate to give consent, "fine take the week off, but don't forget to tell us the day of your marriage."

Arjun couldn't help but chuckle at Rathore's assumption about the marriage. "You are going to tell us when we are getting married because I am leaving it up to you to make the arrangements while I take Riya to my home to introduce her to my family. We only want a small ceremony so see how fast you can get us an appointment at the marriage register's office."

"I should have known you were calling me for something other than the case," Rathore grumbled. "Fine I will call you when all the arrangements are made, see you when you come back."

Arjun was still grinning when Riya came into the room. "Why are you smiling Arjun?"

He put his phone away and immediately wrapped his arms around Riya's waist. He pecked her lips then grinned at her, "Because I am happy, I am happy that within few days you will belong to me completely. Thank you Riya for coming into my life, thank you for not giving up on me."

Riya rose up on her toes and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you Arjun for loving me and making all my dreams come true."

She placed her head on his chest, "I love you Arjun Suryakant Raute."

Arjun wrapped her in his arms tightly and placed his chin on top of her head, "I love you too Riya Mukerjee, you complete my world."

*~+~*

The End

Thank you dear friends. I know it is hard to accept that she is gone, but I know it will be hard to not see her on the show, but just think about Sana and her health, this was the best solution for her, but she gave us some of the best moments of the show. I will always remember her.
