Basically as per this spoiler video, Pallavi started imagining something brewing between Nick and Sonali! Nick is clueless as to why she started changing suddenly and suspecting his character.
I believe Sonali/Nandita/some third person manipulated Pallavi into believing Nick is cheating on her. In one of the episodes, Pallavi was lamenting that Nick never accepted his mistakes to date. So, solving problems through communication was meaningless.
