Good, bad and Ugly

Like in all else characters in our indian soaps can be sorted based on their actions and words. Said and unsaid.

We have Samar, Babuji and Sanjay who are on one point in the spectrum we have Toshu and Anirudh in another and we have Vanraj in another. It is obvious where each is positioned.

When we look at the women characters Anupama is in her journey and we are seeing a transformation.

We see Didi the school Principal who getting to know of Anupamas life travails decides to giver her another chance. A woman who chooses to stand by her brother's wife knowing of how badly the brother had treated Devika. By narrating her life story she instills hope in Anupama. A complete foil is Dolly who instead of standing by Anupama can only lamely wish things become fine in her brother's life.

There are Nandini and Kinjal who each stand by Anupama in their own way and take a stance for her.

There is Paakhi who is blinded by the love for her father. She would rather her mom turns a blind eye and lives with her Dad.

There is Kavya who has no qualms about her adulterous life and would stoop to any level to have har way.

There are Baa and Anupamas mom. Both belonging to another generation but one blind to her son's doings and the queen of taunts the other a very practical and sensible elder analysing the scenario and admitting where she failed and how Anupama must stand up for her rights.

There is Devika who empathise s with Anu and helps her slowly come to terms with her problem in her own way. She speaks up when she must and steps back when Anupama says she would rather fight her own battle. Is willing to give her card well aware that financial independence gives one greater courage.

One may not always see eye to eye with another. One however must have the equanimity to treat others with respect. A count on which in the middle aged women in the show RaKhee fails. It's very easy to act solicitous like she does. She only expresses her point of view to put down others.

To be an enabler to be strong and empower others too in their journey to independence one has to have some measure of kindness and tact. Rakhee may have affluence but definitely does not have maturity, class or tolerance of others.

Since the coaching centre is hers and Pramod is a ghar Jamai he is voiceless as was evident when Kinjal visited her home. He could have refused to go on the business trip or informed when they joined the events. However he chose to miss his daughter's wedding. If we Blame Anu as being weak, the woman atleast stood up for her kids and had the grace to apologise.

Characters are deleinated to move the plot forward.

I go by the view that RaKhee and leela are outright mean with no redeeming qualities but the smirk and taunt. Just my two cents on how the characters are penned in the show .

I don't think so you have missed any character here.

Though I do feel Rakhee is redeemable to some extent, and going by Anupama's determination and some readings of other versions, I have a feeling going forward Rakhee will get softer for whatever reason. 😆 they will never let Lead's monologues and dialogues go waste.

For me, Baa and Rakhee can never be on the same level. Baa is blinded by love of child who blames everyone but Vanraj whereas Rakhi is blinded by her class who cannot see beyond jamai's class and the jamai she has is undoubtedly useless. He is perfect jamai for Rakhee😆 but terrible husband for Kinjal and little below average son for Anupama.

Now in my opinion here is the ranking of characters from dislike to liking

Vanraj - Baa - Kavya- Pakhi- Toshu/Rakhee - - Mamaji - rest of the doodh ke dhule type of characters🤣

Yes, I keep Toshu and Rakhee together.. Anyone who clearly sympathises with Vanraj more than Anupama is a grey character for me, and Toshu is definitely a devil. I still wonder, what the hell has Kinjal seen in him?

As a human being, Rakhee might not be a great character, but unlike baa and Anupama, atleast she is practical and not overly blinded by love for her child (though if I go by Kinjal's narrative, does she care enough for Kinjal).

Devika and Principal seem to be ideal characters who would support Anupama and I do see a scope of Rakhee being one in future but there will be some track for transformation of Rakhee maybe for sake of Kinjal. I have zero hope from Toshu's character and Pakhi is below Zero.

Vanraj and Kavya deserve each other... Hope they move on together sparing some space for Anupama to grow... But I doubt Vanraj will let her go off so easily.

Nice but you missed how Anu continues to bow down to Baa, her treatment of her, swallows her taunts and expects others to do so

Rakhi may be mean but there is more to her. She did empathize with Anu a bit when exposing Vanraj ...something that Anu refused to do ...blatantly refused!

If it wasn’t for Rakhi...Anu wouldn’t have the voice and stance she has now

both characters are flawed but Anupamas decision to keep the affair a secret and asking Kinjal to ignore Baa are a far cry from any female empowerment

Anupamaa if she has patience if she respect elder that does not mean she is weak. She can answer but to avoid situation become worse that is why she avoid to answer back

Baa is that type that person who never going to stop. If anupamaa gave answer baa back then will say nonense thing in back then again anupamaa reply then again baa will say nonense thing . And then anupamaa reply back and so rahe n So there will just exchange of heat of word. Bus ghar ladaai ladaai hogi aur isme khuch solution nikal ke nahi aayega aur baaki ghar ke jo important reh jaayenge

Rakhi. Her concern for daughter is alright but she come to anupamaa for house for entertainment and just to enjoy b tamasha of shah family then it is wrong .

Baa . I have never trust this character

For her mamta is always above vanraj big mistake. The character who always pamper her son and made him king of home so I Dont expect anyting from such character

Kavya . Though she support anupamaa but this support has no meaning because for u vanraj is always important and for vanraj u r ready to fight with anupamaa

Devika

A true friend of devika . It is first devika who sense that there can be affair between vanraj and kavya

She also warn anupamaa to mujhe vanraj aur kavya ke beech dosti se jyaada kuch lag raha hai

It is devika who take anupamaa out from shock as anupamaa not at all speaking if anupamaa would have not speak for few days then anupamaa conditon would have become worse and admitted in hospital

So devika true friend make anupamaa to start new life

Rakhee claims she came to visit Vanraj but everything she says and does seems unbecoming of an educated independent woman.

Those who are truly independent would nurture others. Rakhee always stoops to baas level. Whatever be her other pluses gets nullified when she acts so petty.

To empower others you need to have self awareness. Rakhee has transformed the wedding into a settling score mission. A business woman who coaches young people aspiring to move on in life should be made of better stuff.

I have hopes of Rakhi's redemption only when Toshu fixes himself (which didn't happen in Bengali version).

The whole purpose of her ploys is to have her daughter be happy. If Paritosh keeps supporting his father, Kinjal will eventually deduce that her life will turn out like Anupamaa's who was able to move on a bit too late.

Jal-Pari will eventually split, which will be the right thing to do at that situation and will be Rakhi's success, but won't make Anupamaa happy.

Hence AnKhi will continue to be at loggerheads as long as Rakhi's character is relevant to the story, because both want Kinjal's benefit, but in very different ways.

And Anupamaa wants best for Paritosh too, however awful he may be, and he is more important to her than Kinjal, contrary to what she admits.

She knows Kinjal is much better than what he deserves, so her teachings to Kinjal have gone back to what her own mother taught her,

less standing up for rights and more compromise.
