Things I really want to see in Indian Television

Indian Television is just so typical stuff... And turns are usually predictable. It's a general post with reference to character in this show:

1. Woman standing up for herself without husband even getting into EMA - why should a woman need her husband to have EMA to stand up for her self respect? Like in most shows they actually start realizing their worth after their husbands dump them. How I wish in some alternate world, I would like Vanraj and kids and situations to be exactly same, just minus whole affair thing... What could have still been chances to see Anupama stand up for herself and grow as a person? Just like she did earlier..... There will be no Kavya here or maybe she could be Vanraj or Anu's friend who helps her become stronger

2. Woman REFUSING Extra Marital Affair!

I know most of the time woman are bashed for getting involved with a married man and often without realizing man is the one equally responsible and specially if a woman in question isn't in a happily married situation. I do wonder what gets woman happily get involved with a married man. We can totally see Kavya taking a stand of being positioned as wife. But why can they not be shown taking this stand before getting involved.... Like fine... I am attracted to you, but first divorce your wife if you are so unhappy with her, convince your family if you need to and then only will I take this relationship forward!

U have made some very valid points! Y should it take an EMA for a woman to realise she is being treated like a doormat by her husband? Take English Vinglish for instance. Sridevi’s husband was not having an affair with another woman. Her character decided to empower herself. Coming to Kavya I agree with u there as well. In India marriage is some kind of sacred institution blah blah. Yes marriage is important but it shouldn’t be a binding factor for life. Don’t get me wrong. What I am trying to say is two people should be bound by love, respect, trust and understanding. Not mangalsutra and sindoor. Even though some relationships start off on a beautiful note but they need not survive the test of time. In some cases people fall out of love. Then is it not better that u muster the courage to have a conversation with ur spouse or partner and end the relationship on a high note? Y still be bound to ur partner for the sake of society but have a secret affair outside? It’s not respectable to anyone - not to you, not to your current love/ partner and definitely not to ur spouse. That’s what Anupama says too. Had Vanraj left her for Kavya she would still have some respect for him. It’s good to be in a healthy space always even if ur relationship has ended. Y make a spectacle out of everything?

I forgot about English Vinglish. Sridevi's character didn't undergo transformation as a result of affair but just for sake of growing personally! That's how it should be, and that should have actually been a message too...

Kavya should atleast now put a foot down to tell Vanraj that she won't entertain him unless he divorces Anupama and marries her... It's so annoying to see Vanraj mistreating both the women in the show and his MCP approach.

Yeah Kavya too needs to stand up for her self respect and dignity. If Vanraj really loved her then he would have given their relationship a name. Plus he treats her so badly every time his family comes into picture. Can’t Kavya see this. It’s so annoying to see how shabbily Anupama is depicted in the show. Just caught few scenes of Bengali version and the heroine is not this dumb also. Another issue I have is with Anupama itself. It took an EMA for Anupama to realise she is not respected. Even if Vanraj was not in an affair with anybody also he was treating her badly. Blaming her for everything, calling her an embarrassment and what not. Are the makers saying a woman should keep all this aside and treat their husbands like God if they don’t have an affair with another woman 🤢 and how come Anupama’s accent is so horrible? Not like she is uneducated. She is educated but she couldn’t complete her education. Maybe she couldn’t graduate. So does that make her a fumbling fool?
