Bon, I have to agree with you on this Shankar guy's new appt as AC. Yes, now that he is on par with our darling ACD he is sure to create endless problems and put ACD in a hot soup. Shankar is not thru with our ACD yet and this is a golden opportunity for him to get even with him. How the hell did he get this promotion???😡

I was keeping my comments to myself on the portayal of the police - their language, etc., and the Shankar promotion in particular, but here it goes. First, a bit of background. After my dad's stint in IAF (straight out of high school at all of 14 yrs age!), one of my bro's went thru NDA and IMA after (CBSE) high school. He is a full Colonel in EME, still serving in the Indian Army. So, I know a bit about interactions between Army officers, if not the Indian Police, and cannot believe it would be very different. Note that I am not referring to their interaction with the public, but among themselves, especially among senior officers.

When I hear JC addressing ACD or Inspector(?) Shankar as "Mr Shankar" or "Mr Durai", I am a bit taken aback. The protocol amongst Indian Armed Forces officers is to always address the other officer by rank, even if a junior, when at work,e.g., "Colonel sir", "Major sir", or "AC sir", "Inspector sir", etc. If the conversation is outside work premises, as in a private setting, then they may address themselves as JC does on Anandam, "ACD sir", "Shankar sir", etc.

The other point I had was the scene where Inspector Shankar is stopped by the constable who is SKPD's man. No junior can expect to have the temerity to talk to a senior officer (Inspector here) the way it was shown, including directly referring to Inspector's feelings of hurt! Even if this conversation had taken place outside of work, that too would require the two to have prior friendship of some kind, which is not applicable here. Imagine your junior counselling you at work - isn't that ridiculous? (Even if you are truly hurt, your self respect will not allow that!)

Finally, JC's words to Inspector Shankar on his promotion was nonsense. He said something like "Keep up the good work". This after being suspended for hastily shooting Priyan, and then reprimanded for chasing Priyan's friend on a motorbike without calling for assistance! "Good work" indeed. lol

A case of bad research on the show's crew, in my opinion.

Thanks for the update, Shylock. Oh, no! I have had enough of seeing heroines in jail -- Abhi in Anandham, Lakshmi and Nethra in Lakshmi serial and I bet every other woman character in almost every other serial. Can't these creative heads think of different story lines. And, yes, Priya is going to be upset with ACD for not coming to her assistance -- she has no idea he is on a secret mission. So the gulf between them will continue to deepen.

Hi Guys,

In today's episode, we all know that priya is trapped, I feel that cheyyar is drawing a route for priya to realise the importance of ACD and his help so that she herself will reconcile with ACD OR Charulatha might be back from Malaysia as a surprise to rescue priya.

Sharpviggu, I think 2nd option might come true.
Charu might unexpectedly come and torpedo Shivram's plans.

Hi Guys,

In today's lakshmi Serial SS appeared in the last slot, wearing red and white check shirt with blue jeans. Looking very slim suddenly obviously as usual handsome.....but I cannot understand ...that even in Anandham some days he looks very slim, other days his pounch comes out. Is it the camera trick or something else.

Its depend on the camera man and camera trick, but also depened on what kind of cloths and colour we wear. Even in movies, we do see that.

Thanks for the updates guys.

Agreed with you Vsur. If you are policeman, as a low rank officer, the protocol is you show respect to senior officers, even though you might not like him. In this case, Shankar giving the looks of "if looks can kill then ACD you are dead!. Not only that, by right he should have saluted ACD and called him sir, even in passing.

Only upper ranks policemen gets to be called "Sir". UPper rank policemen will call their lower rank officers by their title.
