Poosuttral - Fan fiction by giri

The alarm tone in Priya's cell phone rang at exactly 5 .30 AM. She immediately woke up ,switched it off and without making any noise made her way downstairs. She freshened herself , had a cup of hot milk and was ready with her bag in less than half an hour. She moved her scooty to a safer distance from Shanthi's house and kick started it. She didn't want to wake up Shanthi or Indu. The morning breeze was lightly cool. The early singing birds lightened up her spirits and she hummed " Akkam pakkam yaarum illa bhoologam vendum" and to her own shock and surprise, imagined herself with ACD in the place of Trisha and Ajith.

With very less traffic, she started her 20 minutes ride to her new found haven.

It all started 15 days back. Priya was on her way to office after dropping Indu at school, when she was stopped near Gowrivakkam, by traffic police who were randomly picking up motor users for checking. While Priya waited for her licence and RC book to be verified, she expectantly scanned the area for the presence of ONE PERSON, instead spotted the blue board advertising about a private Swimming Pool. "How did I miss this for so long?" she memorised the address. After collecting her documents from the policeman, she turned her scooty towards the pool locality. The morning incharge gave her the pamphlets and explained at length the facilities available there. She found out that there were two slots between 8.30 and 10.30 in the morning exclusively for ladies. A coach was available, but to her disappointment it was a man. But when the incharge assured her Sivakumar was very decent and many ladies especially those with kids frquented the pools during these slots, she booked for the 8.30 slot. Later that evening she informed Shanthi that she was planning to learn swimming. Shanthi was so pleased that she immediately took Priya to a sports wear shop to buy her the necessary swim - gear.

Sivakumar was a very pleasant person and behaved true to the words of the incharge. Priya picked up swimming as well as new friends quite fast. These new friends of hers were a noisy and cheerful lot , always having fun and even Priya found herself joining them in their fun. She found herself smiling or laughing all the time when these ladies were around, much to the surprise of a swimmer by the name Caryn. Needless to say the others were Roja, Bonheur, Daya, Jiggly, Rathy, Serial, Pat and ofcourse Giri. They would discuss(????) (tear apart into pieces) about any issue under the sun with so much laughing. Twelve days into her training, Sivakumar had to go on emergency leave and a temporary coach , Prabhu( he has no one to blame but his fate, to have crossed the path of Anandham makkal) took charge. He was rude, barking all the time and not allowing the cheerful crowd to remain that way. To top it , he sent 'love looks' at Priya. oh ho... how can the 'Anandha penmanigal' allow their hero's lady to be snatched away like this? Next day he was cornered, had a tape stuck across his mouth. While Giri and Roja tied his hands at the back, Bon, Caryn and Daya managed to cover him from head to toe with 11 rubber tubes, pushed him into the men's room and Jiggly latched the door from outside. He was discovered hours later by few boys who came to swim in the afternoon. By that time all the ladies had gone home or to office.

Next morning, the incharge made the women apologize to Prabhu, which they reluctantly did. 'Adipatta' coach atthoda matter a vittrukalam. Vidhi yaarai vittadhu? He just mumbled " inimel idhu madiri nadakadha parthukkunga..." and instructed the PC to bring Prabhu to an unidentified place. Coach thalai vidhi patthi sonnene... ini dharma adi than....

"Che indha pombalainga ippadi seinju en maanathai kappal ethitaangale", Priya changed her slot to 6.30 in the morning, a relatively free period. This is how she came to be riding her scooty at that early time humming 'akkam pakkam'.

She changed into her swimming costume and climbed down the ladder into the water. She held on to the rail along the side and went under water, holding breath and bubbling, when a lone male swimmer with yellow cap silently entered the pool at the other end. Priya recognised the yellow cap of Prabhu. When he started swimming towards her, she panicked and let go of the rail. In all her tension, she gasped and swallowed water, started going underneath, but some how managed to catch hold of the edge of the wall. She had to get out of the pool and run into the ladies room and use her mobile for help. But Prabhu was swimming very fast towards her and Priya cursed herself for her predicament. Kumbida pona deivam kurukke vandhadu - "Surprise...surprise.... Engala vittutu thaniya varamudiyuma Priya?" Giri, Bon, Jiggly , Roja and others came in shouting.

Priya prayed she would break 108 coconuts for 'Trichy ucchi pillaiyar' for sending these angels and silently pointed at Prabhu. "Ada paavi nee thirundave maatiya?" Avalavu than , all of them jumped into the water and swam straight away towards Prabhu and pushed his head underwater for quite sometime. When he stopped struggling, they pulled him out and to their shock, it was ACD. "Aiyo Priya mosam poittiye" wailed Giri. Priya's face whitened to such an extent that it could have been 'benchmark' for whiteness of Surf Excel. Solli veccha madiri all of them rushed out to call for help and Priya was left alone with the unconscious ACD. What should she do now?She crossed and uncrossed her fingers. Must she force the water out of his stomach? First she would feel for his heart beat.... slightly shivering she pressed her ear close to his chest. Had she noticed a minute back , she would have seen ACD winking at the ladies.
