26 of November 2012 brought with it a new connection for all of us. A new connection with a new story, a new serial and for many of us like me; a totally new theme which we had always been foreign to. Whatever brought us here is unique to ourselves, our opinions and our liking. Be it the supernatural theme, the actors and actresses, the plot, the promos or even the mysterious and rare title, 'Aanamika,' we all eventually decided to watch the serial. Ever since the first episode of Aanamika aired, a spooky touch had been brought to the show. In the first few minutes of the telecast the CVs had successfully delivered the presence of Aanamika's character to the audience. From this exact moment it was evident that this show was going to be in Aanamika's hands and why not? After all, the title itself proves it.

Aanamika... the unnamed Chudail is the foundation of this show, its main character and its base. It is quite understandable that there are two other leads being Rano and Jeet which CVs must show the limelight to as well, but I would like to re-emphasize that 'Aanamika' is the title of this show named after the Chudail which in itself proves her to be the main character...the protagonist. The first few minutes of the first episode were enough to prove to me that yes, this show is Aanamika's and I want to watch it which is exactly why I continued viewing the episodes. Aanamika is my favorite character and she is the sole reason why I watch this show. Ask me and I don't find anything apart from her very much interesting (please note, this is only my perspective and it is very understandable if you disagree). Aanamika being my favorite character led me into thinking why I actually like her so much. You could say I am biased, because I am a huge fan of Simran Kaur, but that is not the only reason. There are many other points suggested below which add flavor and reason to my liking of Aanamika:

-To start off with is one of the most obvious reasons applicable to me; Simran Kaur. She acts out the character brilliantly despite the fact that she has never done a show or played a character as such. She is doing a sensational job seeing that this is her first attempt at playing the role of a witch which she is definitely being successful in.
-The way Aanamika carries herself is so elegant that this itself makes her character beautiful no matter how grey she may be. Her dressing sense is so suitable and you could almost say that it is 'matching' with her personality which is why it appears perfect, to me at least.
-Aanamika's character...lovable and quiet yet very mysterious, spooky and creepy. The characteristics she has makes a person curious about how such a variety of attributes can be hidden within one individual.
-Elaborating on one section of the above point, Aanamika's quietness makes her character particularly interesting. It may be that her silence stems from the fact that she has no curiosity...because she already knows everything she need to know, be it about Jeet or the environment around her.
-The flurry of emotions within her is often what Aanamika expresses when she is by herself. It almost seems as if she is assuring herself that everything will be okay because she has the power to make it okay. Aanamika tends to like remembering her past, it is almost a way of expressing her emotions. The other day we saw her communicating with a black shadow which appeared to give her something undeliberately... maybe it gave her assurance, or maybe it was a way of assuring herself that she would figure things out.
-Her confidence... Aanamika is never doubtful in her deeds. She has this certainty that what she does will always be right. Many may think that this makes her 'up herself' but to me it doesn't. It just proves Aanamika's belief in herself which is what makes her the amazing character she is. For example, the other day when Jeet chose Rano over her, his decision only affected her to a limited extent. After Jeet left, she laughed the situation off by confidently assuring herself that he would comeback no matter what.
-She doesn't live life in the fear of tomorrow. It's almost as if she knows what is going to happen tomorrow because tomorrow will be of her preference. She will chose the dish on the menu card and that is exactly what she will be served.

The unfolding of Aanamika's character and her characteristics have been subtle and gradual yet surely have left an impact on the viewers. Her journey of presenting her true self to the audience has, is and always will be a vital aspect of the show.

At the beginning of the show I am sure we were all already cringing to see the site of Aanamika... not only how she looked but what she did. From the time when her character's entire face was revealed to the audience and to Jeet, her quiet and calm attitude was introduced. All the times that Aanamika helped Jeet showed her consideration which may only be biased towards him. Aanamika's consideration and care towards Jeet is something that along with I, many of you may find a little perplexing. If Aanmaika needed or wanted Jeet for something, e.g. use him to bring back the person in the black shadow, she could supernaturally force him to do it or threaten him which would oblige him to helping her; however, she has never done something along these lines. Exactly why Aanamika wants Jeet in to be in her life is left as a mystery but it is undoubted that her charming personality would attract anyone, let alone Jeet, to her even without the use of her supernatural powers and for that matter, the audience are the best example.

Not only consideration but Aanamika also appears to care for Jeet and this maybe because she doesn't want to reveal her 'true self' to him. What her true self actually is, is left a mystery to us all and to Jeet. For example, we saw in one of the episodes that Aanamika has a desire to drink human blood. Aanamika controlled her desire after seeing Jeet's blood. Why? Was it because she thought if Jeet found out he would immediately leave her? Would she control herself from drinking blood if someone else was in Jeet's place? Or did she only restrict her temptations because Jeet was in front of her eyes? If so, does this mean she cares for Jeet? Or is it because she needs to spare him for her plans to be successful? I guess only time can answer these questions but it is quite evident that Aanamika is biased towards Jeet and she 'needs' more than wants him because if Jeet left her she could go after anyone else to fulfill her necessities but she isn't doing this. Maybe Jeet is the only one who can come in handy to her.

Despite all the questions lingering in our minds, the big question is that if Jeet were to find out the reality of Aanamika, that she is a supernatural being, what would he do? Would he leave her? Or would he stay with her because of his growing curiosity? How Jeet will react depends majorly on how the truth is revealed to him and how he takes it in... I guess getting the answers to all the questions is only a matter of time. Overall, at the moment my favorite part of the show is watching how Aanamika's character unfolds in the grey shades. The show is going great; however, sometimes it is a bit slow, but despite that I'm sure it will do well as long as it has a consistent story line which isn't dragged.

Aanamika has surely left her enchanting, enigmatic and endearing impression on me, has she done the same to you?
