Reality bites: Another All Male Final!

Roshni Chopra has been voted out of Jjhoom India continuing the trend of reality shows - another all male final, this time between Varun Badola and Sachin Tyagi. We spoke to Roshni and judges of different singing reality shows for their opinion on it.

"I think you cannot compare a male voice with a female voice. They have their own qualities. Jjhoom was not a serious singing show. I enjoyed myself and I am happy that I did everything honestly," opines Roshni.

Mahesh Bhatt, one of the judges of Jjhoom India, is unsure about the reason behind it but comments, "Our society is mainly driven by males and the audience generally prefers male contestants for voting. Reality shows are also a reflection of such society. In Roshni's case, she really worked hard and is a good singer. Her last performance was also amazing. The voting should be based on talent but the audience's subconscious mind works differently in such situations. In our country people kill unborn girls so why will they vote for female contestants in reality shows and make them winners."

Composer and one of the judges of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Shekhar finds the trend shocking. "I also have heard many complaints about girls not getting enough votes. There are many good female singers but during our show, I used to go through voting details and found out that the voting ratio of girls was very poor. We even used to request people to vote for girls. Singing does not depend on age, gender or religion so it is silly that the audience votes for only a certain group of people in their community and all. Women rock and I hope in the future the audience will vote for them."

Jatin, composer and one of the judges of Voice Of India, has something similar to say. "I can't figure out the logic behind it. They are equally talented and hard working so it is sad that they do not get votes. In fact they are more committed and confident compared to boys but then I do not know what the public mentality is when they decide to vote."

Udit Narayan, who was one of the judges of Indian Idol 3, adds, "We wanted to have a female Indian Idol this time but it did not happen. We have talented women in our country and people loved them as well. The greatest examples are Lata Mangeshkar, Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and the latest is our new President. So you cannot say that people do not want girls to win the contest. In today's world, people take into consideration performance of the singers and tend to get attracted to it but I am sure in the future we will get female winners."

Till now we have not had a female winner in any reality show. Hope things change in the future.

Singers like Nihira ,Hemachandra and Karunya have done very well for themselves and are not average or mediocre singers but are learned and they are great singers I think. In ASVOI I strongly felt Abhilasha should have won as everone praised her.But it is unfortunate girls are getting voted out.in this show the girls are doing very well and hope one of them comes out as a winner.

Nihira, Hemachandra, Karunya, Amey, Amanat all were much better singer and Versatile than some of the ones who won. But life goes on with reality shows and we accept the winners 😳

But I was extremely happy with LC Sanchita's winning.

Now I am waiting for Aishwarya and Anwesha to be in finale for CU-Ni.

with LC I am not sure who would be in Finals since my most favorite singer Rohit-Shyam-ROy is out 😭 Like Tanmay and Anamika. SO lets see.

It is about time a girl singer wins. Again she has to be the best singer not because of her gender 😃
