2007 has been a rather sorry year for Hindi Cinema, and also the music attached to it... Very few successful movies and albums, fewer memorable songs.. Half the year has gone, and there are very very few tunes that we can humm... Even commercially, I dont think any of the albums/songs has been an astounding hit...

I thought of opening this thread to discuss what has been memorable in Hindi music so far this year, now that we have already past the 6 months mark?

So, which have been the 3 most soulful songs that you heard this year?

Which has been the best overall album?

Can we attribute these 6 months to any particular singer - if so whom?

Which album did you think would be great, but dissapointed you?

Are you looking forward to any particular movie for its songs this year?

These are just some of the questions I could think of.. We can have the discussion in a more free-flow format as well...😊

As I sit down to think about it, was 'Aye Hairate Ashiqui' the only soul stirring number of this year? So much of drought!! Or am I not thinking enough....

Oh yes, I thought 'Chanda re chanda re' from Ekalavya was very soothing too...

What else.... *thinking very hard*

Anwar's Maula Mere and Javeda Zindagi, more than Aye Hairathe, for me. But Anwar and Guru both released their music in 2006. I just checked out MIOnline's 2007 list and I can find nothing. Eklavya's song is not even a full song.

I bought this Marathi film CD a few months ago, and notice it is listed under Hindi at this website. I know you will like it, check it out:

Yes - Anwar's 'Muala mere' was lovely... very soulful, Indeed check MIOnline and both the albums were released in 2006.... I also could not find Salaam-e-ishq in the listing, I guess the music for that was released in 2006 as well.... I liked 'Meri saason me' from Salaam-e-ishq too.....

'Life in a... Metro' - a kind of album I never thought I would connect to... but I proved myself wrong.. perhaps it was the movie that I liked, and then the songs came in so apt in the flow of the story, that the overall album left quite an impression... I think, that along with Guru, are the only 2 Movie albums (from 2007) that I have bought this year!

Will check the Marathi CD...

I like Toh phir aao from Awarapaan, Cheeni Kum title song and In dinon from Metro.
JBJ title song is catchy.

I'm looking forward to the music of Laga Chunri Mein Daag. I think the music director is Shantanu Moitra.

I also like Bol na halke halke. I liked Cheeni Kum but recently I found out that Illayaraja has reused his old Tamil tunes and felt a little sad.

I am also looking fwd to Laaga Chunri Me Daag - the music and the movie... Shantanu Moitra, Pradeep Sarkar, Konkono SenSharma, Jaya Bhaduri, Rani Mukherjee... High chances that it would be good!
