From her fabulous rendition of HRHK song in the Jaipur auditions, we know that Sumrita Iyer is actually capabale of giving such great performances.. However, in her last 2 performances with Mast and Aao Na, she has sounded shrill in the higher notes and has not met expectations for many. Moreover, she has been attempting the same genre of songs and we like to see more versatility from her. So one thing is for sure - her song selection (whoever selected it for her) has not been the best.

Do you think the same? What are some of the other songs you would like to hear from her, where you think she can flourish a lot more? Please share😊

I would actually like to hear her do Lata classics like 'Na jiya lage na'. Who says they have to be sung by highpitched voices?

Jaao re jogi tum jaao re
Vaqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam

The second one is so plain-sounding it is difficult to sing well and needs a lot of expression.

Even Allah tero naam... why not?

Yes - I would actually like her to attempt some Lata'ji songs as well....

Ruk jaa raat theher ja re chanda...
Teri aakhon ke siva duniye me rakkha kya hai...

Or if she tries to stick to Asha'ji.. would like to hear songs like

Chain se humko kabhi...
Phir se aaiyo badra bidesi...

Or the songs from Bandhini... I am blank at the moment, but maybe you can fill in Asha's songs from Bandhini?

Ab ke baras bhejo bhaiyya ko babul (this happens to be at the top of my fav list of Asha songs )

O panchhi pyaare, saanjh sakaare is also there.. But Ab ke baras is simply awesome

All such difficult songs! It's always more difficult for girls because they only have Lata and Asha songs, which are all too high pitched. However, the boys can choose between Rafi, Kishore, Mukesh, Talat and others.

Now - we are certainly not saying here that Rafi, or Kishore, or Talat songs are easy! Are we?😆

But - I agree, atleast with boys, they have more veriety to choose from... But, some of these girls, I think are good enough to pull off a Lata or Asha classic decently enough 😊

In my opinion, a song like "na jeeya laage na" is absolutely unattemptable! That's because there are just too many turns in that song, and no one can do justice to the song like Lata. The comparisons will be inevitable. Salil Choudhury made specially difficult songs to challenge Lata.

"Waqt ne kiya" is attemptable, I think but too slow for a contest. "Jaao re jogi" will be possible if there is good classical training.

I think many of these contestants do have classical training. It is evident in their breath control and in their range.
