Poor Pritam Chakraborty. The home medium just doesn't seem to like him, or his music. A few weeks ago Pritam was mercilessly satirised on Ekta Kapoor's daily Kasturi, when the film's aspiring singer-heroine went to meet a music director with hair falling into his face. A definite caricature of Pritam!
And now on Star's music contest Voice Of India, Pritam has been exposed like never before. When a contestant Arindam Chakraborty sang 'Bheegi bheegi… Hamari adhuri kahani' from Gangster Pritam was praised for his composition by one of the judges. To this, the contestant who was from Kolkata volunteered that the tune was originally composed by Gautam Chattopadhyay.
Judge Alka Yagnik stopped the contestant to say that the contestant should restrict himself to singing and not comment on other matters.
Pritam
But Aadesh Srivastava intervened and supported the boy.
"Why should people who openly copy songs not be exposed on television? It's so wrong to lift someone else's tune and pass it off as your own specially since the artiste Gautam Chattopadhyay who composed the original song is no more. At least let's respect the dead," said Aadesh angrily.
