Hmmm, let start brain stroming😆

It is basically depend on the lady , how she is, if she is good human inside , her way to cope up with the things will be positive , but if she herself is a bad tempered , she will behave arrogantly. At the end any relation is a compromise and adjustment. It's like leave and take , what will you leave and what will you take is important.

so all depend on the nature of yours, not only for MIL-DIL relation but for other relations also.

Well said bhavna. 👍🏼. All depends upon the person who is involved in the relationship (and mind you it can be any relationship). A relationship can never be successful unless there is an effort from both the ends.😳

It's an inalienable part of every woman's nature to be insecure of other women in her mens' life. M-I-L is not an exception.

As for Phalguni aunty, I didn't like her much in the beginning. But now, she's nice. I mean, she is strict, but she is sweet too. I love this MIL and wouldn't mind having someone like her.☺️ 😆

Good topic. I think the relationship between MIL and DIL is always like that.I have a friend who is like mother teresa and its her nick name too in college. Our friends always used to say that your MIL must be a lucky one.But after marriage she is also complaining more about her MIL and they are also fighting like a typical saas-bahu.

😆🤣🤣🤣 No wonder the phrase 'We should never judge a book by the cover of the book' holds true in-case of your friend. Dekha uska real character bahar aa gaya!!

Hmm I too wonder about this especially since I got married...

I have a lovely MIL who is very sweet, caring etc etc. and because of that I cannot understand the MIL-DIL fights n stuff...my MIL is a very good human being and it's no surprise that she is a very good MIL too...so I think it depends...there's no dearth of good and kind hearted people in this world... :😊 if someone is good...he or she will be good in every role, mother or MIL!

or maybe I am one of those lucky ones..lol...I don't like when people say MILs are always like that..why to generalize something? good and bad people are there everywhere so no need to portray MILs as cruel all the time... my MIL is a sweetheart! 😃

Well said dear! That's what I wanted to convey in this topic that if a person is a good human being she will be a good MIL too. All depends upon that particular person's nature.

or maybe I am one of those lucky ones..lol...I don't like when people say MILs are always like that..why to generalize something? good and bad people are there everywhere so no need to portray MILs as cruel all the time... my MIL is a sweetheart! 😃
👏 This is like music to my ears.So nice to hear such praises that too from a DIL.This is very rare 😳. Touchwood!

But sweetie beware of your neighbors and relatives who might get a bit jealous of this beautiful unconventional relationship.
😛

I think you did not get my point dear. When your friend was in college she never faced any such tough situations,so she was quite calm and sweet. That's why you all presumed her nature to be like Mother Teresa.

Usually it is said that situations / circumstances can bring out
best or worst in you. If you observe keenly, in the same situation different people behave differently depending upon their true nature. I'm not sure what your friend had to face once she got married. Nor I expect her to adjust and accept whatever her MIL says too! But if she really was a real Mother Teresa she should not have fought with her MIL . And world's history proves fighting actually makes things worse. Rather she should have tackled the situation more wisely and compassionately. 😊

And as I said earlier :
All depends upon that particular person's nature and how she tackles it.

You know, its pretty funny but in my immediate family, I've always encountered really nice MIL's.

My grandma (from dad's side) is literally like my mom's mom. She's always looking out for my mom and even consoled her when someone in my mom's family died. She's also like that with her other daughter in law. She always trys to help out as much as she can.

My grandma (from my mom's side) is like that with her DIL too. She's strict but caring.

Similarly, all my cousins and aunts share a pretty good relationship with their MIL. I think I only heard of one instance where a MIL beat her DIL, but that was hearsay so I don't know if its reliable evidence.

So for me, seeing the scheming and evil MIL is pretty cool and weird LOL.

a good 95% have evil traits- If you have the nice ones- thank god as it makes life a lot easierI am not sure what happens to the MIL's when their sons get married- but something changes ( on the evil ones) and some are a little evil and some are extreme
I think (based on experience) - they have their own expectations of what they want the DIL to be like- and form an opinion. Where everyone can have bad days or make some mistake or have a lzy day- when it comes to the DIL- they tend to scrutinize more and hold more grudges and seriously expect to be waited on hand and foot (maybe they had to with their MIL's and want to return the favour on us?)
Best way to deal with it - is to not take it to heart and the old saying- in one ear, out the other.
MIne is evil- if there was a kingdom - she would be a contender for the Queen. - and trust me- they don't come better DILs than me- I cook, clean, know how to keep relations- am a homebody- do everything for not only MIL but ususally for her daughters too.- you name it- I am responsible for it or have handled it -
My sister on the otherhand- has the most awesome, sweet understanding mother in law-and whole in law family- but then again she herself says- her MIL was like that to her and never made her feel like a DIL- always a daughter so she wants to make sure she does the same.
