It isn't just about them being joined at the hip! They share a liver which is a vital organ in your body, if it was just skin joining them together then thier separation wouldn't be nearly as risky as it is. I think it's going to be really hard to find a way to separate them, so they might just never separate or they might separate at the end of the show.
