Thank you Shanti for your thought-provoking comment.đ
And I agree with you about the women biding their time before they rise up against the abuse and stand up for themselves.
About Shobha, her statement makes me very uneasy. Do women compromise with infidelity?Yes, they do, mostly for the sake of their children, and for themselves too. But in Shobha's case, here's a man who's many affairs have been exposed to her by the cops. She was sick to the stomach after that. Here's a man accused of treason. A man who never thought twice before risking her freedom, threatened to divorce her, take her children away from her. A man who wanted her to pay and stay behind bars so he could be let out of jail on Parole.
Why would Shobha want to spend another moment in his company? Especially for the sake of her children shouldn't she move on because what kind of an example does she give Jiya with this behaviour - that Jiya should stay in an abusive relationship for her children?
I know life and decisions such as these that have far-reaching impacts are never easy and mostly grey, but it would be great if Shobha showed some spunk. In another serial on Zee, a women whose husband was also a serial womanizer, cut ties with her husband, even though\ she had one child. So it's not unheard of. And that woman did not have a job or financial security.
I so want Shobha to stand up and take the tough calls - tough because they are for her own self-respect. Beyond time that she looked to her own needs.
