Miscreants allegedly damaged Gaurav Chopraa's Ford Ikon and the actor has no clue who is behind it. Or for that matter, why his car was targetted. As it happened late in the night, he could not even check in the vicinity with anyone about how the windscreen bore cracks and gaping
holes.

Nothing stolen

The incident occurred a few nights ago at Aram Nagar in Versova. "It was about 2.30 am when I realised what had happened. The windscreen in front of the steering wheel was broken. What could I do at that unearthly hour?" asks Gaurav, who features as Samay in the Sony daily Aisa Des Hai Mera.

"The area was in pitch darkness and there was no one around. So I just drove off in the car in that state. Luckily, nothing was stolen from the car."

Gaurav, along with his partner Narayani Shastri and his twin choreographers Sahil and Sumit, had been rehearsing for the Star One show, Nach Baliye 2, at Aram Nagar, when the incident happened.

Open ground

"I had parked the car at about 11 pm. We have been rehearsing at the venue till the early hours. I don't know what happened that night. Aram Nagar has bungalows so there was no way something fell on it from a building. Moreover, the area where I had parked is an open ground; it's impossible that anything could have landed on the windscreen to cause it to crack. There were no tell-tale signs lying around either," he says.

Doing of rivals?

So who could have been the miscreant? "I am in the dark, especially as nothing was stolen," he says. Was it the doing of his rival contestants to divert his attention from his rehearsals? Gaurav laughs out loud. "Nach Baliye 2 is only a contest. We are there to have fun and enjoy. It's like enacting your favourite chartbusters but with professional help."

As Gaurav was in South Africa acting in the musical Bombay Crush last year, he has not seen the first season of Nach Baliye. "I am the only contestant who was unable to follow the show. So there is no reference point for me. I have no clue about the nitty-gritties. It is all hearsay for me. I will be out there with no yardsticks to follow, just to dance well and make the audience enjoy it."

First dance

Interestingly, the duo will be the first couple to perform when Nach Baliye 2 kicks off on September 25. "Our number is Jodi No 1 so we will be out there first and I will be performing the opening act."
