Chap-9 Togetherness

Akash has been visiting Ananya for the last 2 days and unknowingly both looked forward to meeting each other as they used to enjoy their time together. They had a good time talking about different things like college life, their fears, their likes & dislikes and everything that they had fond memories of. Akash came to know that Ananya loved to experiment with cooking like her father and also loved to dance like her mother and these are her stress busters .In addition to that Ananya reads a lot of romantic novels and Akash had laughed hearing that since he thought she only would read science fiction even as a kid. Ananya now knows Akash is a foodie and his salvation is eating his mother's parathas and he loves bikes and football. Although he does not quite like night-out parties but just goes because it increases his cool quotient. Like Ananya has fear for darkness similarly he has fear of anything that is creepy like cockroaches, lizards, snakes and all of those breed.

On the third day there was some emergency case and Akash was called in to attend and by the time everything was wrapped up it was already late afternoon. He was worried that Ananya would be bored and maybe expecting him and on the other hand Ananya was worried what happened to him, was he fine and why did he not turn up since his cell was also unreachable. Finally by 3pm when Akash reached both were happy to see each other but pretended not to show that. Ananya asked "Where were you, I was worried" and when he replied that he had gone for emergency , she said that he could have texted at least during the break to which Akash asked "Why were you missing me".Ananya blushed heavily on being caught off guard and Akash noticed that and started ranting "Haan waise mein itna handsome hoon ki koi bhi ladki mujhe miss karti hi leti hain,par who alag baat hain ki kuch log admit nahin karte".Ananya gave a knowing smile and said "I was just worried jyada hawa mein udne ki zarurat nahin koi intezaar wagera nahin kar rahin thi main" and started concentrating on the soup that she was drinking when Akash had come in. While she was trying to take the spoon to her mouth Ananya's hand slipped and the spoon fell spilling off the soup from the bowl and Akash rushed to her and immediately took the napkin and softly wiped away the spilled soup from her face and then stopped her from drinking the soup again. He then took the spoon and slowly made her drink the soup lost in each other's eyes till the doctor on his rounds knocked the door. The doctor checked Ananya and confirmed that she could go home the next day and the week next she should be fine to get back to work. The doctor knew Ananya so teased her saying that the Research center was missing her terribly. The remaining part of the evening went on well with the two having chit-chat but Akash would occasionally see that Ananya looked a little sad. On asking her she refused to answer but after a little probing Ananya said that she was missing Shefali and she knew Shefali was angry with her and she was not sure how she would handle things one they were back home. Akash assured her that time heals everything and you never know Shefali might be all like before now and she was unnecessarily reading too much into things.

Next morning Ananya was impatiently waiting for the discharge papers and Akash to come and take her away to her home and as soon as the doctor entered, she found Kunal and Shefali also walked in alongwith the doctor and that was a pleasant surprise for Ananya. The doctor checked and signed the discharge papers and left the room and without wasting a moment Shefali ran to engulf Ananya in a bear hug and Ananya could not help but cry. On seeing both Ananya and Shefali in tears, Kunal said "Mujhe aisa kyun lag raha hain jaise kisi ki mayka se bidaii ho rahi hain, tumlog kyun saas bahu serials ki tarah ro rahi ho..ab mat bolna ki yeh khushi ke ansoon hain".On hearing him say that Shefali literally pushed Kunal out of the room so they both could sit and catch up on the last few days they have not spoken. After about an hour when Shefali went out of the room to catch up on some calls, Kunal stepped in and enveloped Ananya in a brotherly hug and patted her head asking her whether she is feeling fine and if she needs some more rest or she is ready to join back work. As Ananya started gearing up to go back home she thanked Kunal for making Shefali understand and see her viewpoint on the Akash fiasco and she was so worried that Shefali might not even talk to her. On hearing this Kunal was surprised and he said "I did not do anything Ana , it was Akash who did it. He called me up and said that he wanted to meet both of us and apologize and infact he came especially for Shefali and made her understand that it is his mistake and you were just giving him one chance and he should not be the reason for a misunderstanding between two besties". Ananya was stumped hearing this as she knew that Akash was warming up to her but he would do this for her she never ever thought of.

As the trio moved out of the hospital together Ananya kept looking at her watch as she expected Akash to be there any moment. She tried to delay their departure so Akash could join them but he was still not around. As they boarded the car a message beeped "I hope you are happy to have Shefali with you, I am caught up in some important work. I hope you will excuse me for not being to meet you today. Talk to you later Ananya".Ananya was a little disheartened seeing the message so she just replied "Thanks". Immediately a reply came "Bas Thanks ..gussa ho aur kuch nahin bologi".She replied back "Concentrate on your urgent work, talk later". As they made their way back home Ananya thought maybe he is caught up in something important and she has been demanding may be a little too much. Afterall they had just become good friends and shared good times together so she consoled herself that she should be happy the way it was. Ananya was tired being in the hospital for the last few days and she felt so fresh and realized how different it was to go to the same place for work and go as a patient. She had just finished her dinner when her mobile rang and she moved to the balcony to take the call as it was from Akash. Both shared their stories of the day spent with each other and had a long talk before they wished each other goodnight. As Akash walked to the dining table to have his favourite rajma chawal his Mom found him smiling ear to ear and she asked him "Kudi ka naam kya hain jo tujhe itni khoobsurat muskaan de gayee" and he said "Ananya" and immediately backed off on being caught. Akash mother probed a little more and asked a little more about Ananya and asked Akash if he was in love with her. Akash was shocked at the question and thought seriously before replying "Mom you are like my friend so wont lie to you. She is like a breath of fresh air, she has no attitude, no arrogance, a pure soul you can never feel cold with her. I like talking to her enjoy her company and feel warm around her but I am not sure at the moment if I love her". As Akash continued to talk about Ananya his mother developed an instant liking for this girl and she felt sad to know that she was orphan. As Akash moved away his mother prayed to God to make him realize that he loves her soon because she felt Ananya will keep her son happy because just her presence makes him smile. On the other side as Shefali looked at a smiling Ananya from the window that led to the balcony she prayed to God to make Ananya and Akash a couple since she realized by Akash sincere apology that he is not a bad guy. Once she gets married and shifts to Kunal's house Ananya would be alone again and she wanted her to meet her man before that so she will not feel lonely when Shefali is gone.

Little did this two well-wishers know that the Almighty had listened to their wish and will shortly put the plan in action but the path of love has thorns and roses too .
