CHAPTER - 1

On hearing the doorbell,Ananya quickly opened the door.On seeing the crying child in Akash's arms,Ananya was surprised.She asked,"Ye kiska bachcha hai Akash?"He replied,"Pata nehi Ananya aate waqt dekha tha vo raaste mein beth kar ro rahi thi.Ab itni baarish mein main isko akela to chor nehi sakta hu na isiliye le aaya."Ananya said,"Tumne bohot achcha kiya.Ab tum jaao,jaakar change karlo."She took the child from his arms and went to her room.Akash too followed her and said,"Iske to kapre bheeg gaye hai zara iske kapre badalva do."Ananya said,"Abhi iske size ke kapre..."Suddenly something struck into her mind.She said,"Tumhe yaad hai ma ne mere pregnancy ke waqt chote chote kapre banaakar diye the ghar mein bachche ko pehnaane ke liye.Vohi de deti hu."While saying she became sad.She said,"Agar aaj meri bachchi zinda hoti to ye kapre usiko hi deti na."Akash understood her feelings and said,"Udaas mat ho Ananya aur jaldi karo varna bachchi ko thand lag jaayegi."Ananya quickly changed the dress but even for a single second the baby didn't stop crying.After that,Ananya made some food for the child but even after a lot of pampering and trying,the child didn't take food.Akash asked,"Ab hum kya karenge?Isne to kuch bhi nehi khaya?Bhukhe pet aise kaise sula denge isko?"She said,"Ek kaam karti hu isko pehle sula deti hu uske baad khila dungi."Ananya took the child in her lap and patted her slowly and sang a lullaby for her.The baby was also total exhausted,so she fell fast asleep.Ananya made her lie down in the bed and went to the kitchen.She had every baby item in her house.She took out the feeding bottle and poured some milk in it.She kept the bottle in a mug of cold water and after it was cooled,Ananya took the bottle and went inside their bedroom.Akash who was lying beside the baby asked,"Ab usko ye pilaaogi kaise?"She whispered,"Just wait and watch."She put the nib of the bottle inside her mouth and she,too,in her sleep,started sucking the milk.Ananya understood that the child was very hungry.Akash was surprised at this.He,with an applauding tone,said,"Sach kehte hai tum aurto ko ma banne ki training lene ki koi zarurat nehi hai.Tum logo mein to janam se hi ek mother instinct hota hai aur dekho jis tarah se bachchi pee rahi hai aisa lagta hai bichaari ko bohot bhukh lagi hai."The child finished up her milk and then fall asleep.Ananya carefully wiped her mouth and then returned to the kitchen.When Ananya returned to her room,Akash said,"Hum kal isko police station lekar chalenge.Pata nehi kiski bachchi hogi aur shaayad iske ma baap bhi isey dhundh rahe honge."Ananya agreed,"Tum thik keh rahe ho."They decided to go to the police next day.

They reached the police station with the child.Akash's school friend Karan was the OC in the police station.On hearing everything from Akash,he said,"Tu fikar mat kar Akash hum is bachchi ke ma baap ko kahi se bhi dhundh nikaalenge.Mazaak chal raha hai kya?Agar bachche ko paalne ki himmat nehi hai to paida kyu karte ho?Agar apne aap se alag karna hi hai to kisiko de do na jinhe bachcha nehi hai kamsekam bachcho ko ma baap ke naam ke saath saath unka pyar bhi mil jaayega."Ananya said,"Par Karan iske kapro se lagta hai ke ye bohot bare ghar ki bachchi hai aur aisa bhi to ho sakta hai ke ye bachchi kho gayi ho aur iske ma baap isko dhundh rahe ho."Karan said,"Aap bohot bholi hai bhabhi.Aise kaand na bare gharo mein hi hote hai aur yahatak to ye log apne hi bachche ko kidnap karwaate hai paiso ke liye.Bare ghar ke bare kisse."Akash asked,"Tabtak is bachchi ka kya karenge?"Karan replied,"Bachchi hamaare paas rahegi."Ananya looked at the child and said,"Nehi nehi Karan itni choti si hi to bachchi hai bas 2-3 saal ki hogi.Itni choti bachchi ko main aise hi nehi chor sakti."Karan said,"Main aapki feelings samajhta hu bhabhi lekin yehi kanoon hai.Aise cases mein bachche ko sirf uske rishtedaar hi rakh sakte hai."Ananya said,"Aap to hume jaante hai na please Karan jabtak iske gharwaale nehi mil jaate isey hamaare saath hi rehne dijiye."Akash said,"Ha Karan maan ja na hamaari suni zindagi mein thore pal ke liye hi sahi lekin khushi bankar aayi hai.Rehne de na isey hamaare paas."Karan thought for sometime and then said,"Thik hai tu kehta hai to main ijaazat de deta hu."Ananya happily said,"Thank you Karan aur hum vaada karte hai ke hum iska pura dhyaan rakkhenge."Akash shook hands with Karan and left with Ananya and the child from there.

While on their way to home,they purchased some clothes for the child and also some toys.The child was playing with her doll and Ananya was sitting beside her and staring at her.Akash came inside the bedroom and on seeing her like that,he asked,"Aise kya dekh rahi ho Ananya?Kuch soch rahi ho kya?"She replied,"Soch rahi hu ke na to hume iska naam pata hai aur na to ye khud apna naam bol paayegi par iska kuch to naam rakhna parega na."Akash thought for a moment and then said,"Muskaan!Kaisa hai?"Ananya looked at him with a jerk.He said,"Tumhe yaad hai humne tey kiya tha ke agar hume beti hui to hum uska yehi naam rakkhenge par..."He took a deep breath and said,"Aur vaise bhi tumhaare miscarriage ke baad se tumne bhi to muskuraana hi chor diya tha.Jabse aayi hai tum bhi waapas iske jaisi muskuraane lagi ho."Ananya smiled and said,"Tum sahi keh rahe ho Akash aaj agar hamaari beti zinda hoti to vo bhi isi umar ki hi hoti na."He nodded his head.Ananya took the child in her arms and kissed on her cheeks and said,"Aaj se tum hamaari Muskaan."The baby smiled sweetly at Ananya.Akash said,"Aww!Kitni pyari smile hai iski.Lagta hai isko bhi apna naam pasand aaya hai."Ananya laughed.

Within a few days Muskaan got mixed with Ananya and Akash.She too became a part of their life.Muskaan became accustomed to Ananya,the most.Ananya,too slowly started treating her as her own daughter.Whenever Muskaan had to call Ananya,she used to walk towards her and pull her dress.She could never speak properly but just used to make different sounds and used to communicate through her gestures.Akash could never understand her language but Ananya slowly slowly caught it up nicely.As time passed by,Muskaan didn't have to say anything even and Ananya used to understand everything.Muskaan really brought smile and happiness in Ananya and Akash's life.
