Sumitra is not the bad person everyone makes her out to be.
I thought she was a great personality, good, kind and thoughtful. She was an abused woman who knew that she was weak, could not stand up to her husband, and even said so.
Despite that she tried to keep the balance in the house, and she realised that she often failed everyone.
Everyone mistook her concern for Laali as something bad.
All because she was thinking more of Laali's happiness than the happiness of her household.
She wanted so much for Laali to have happiness that she was prepared to even sacrifice her beloved son, Shekhar.
Viewers were so concerned for Shekhar to get together with Laali that Sumitra became the sacrificial lamb for their anger.
Only Laali knew how much Sumitra had done for her
I would agree that if Shekhar inherited the genes it would be more from his mother's side since he similiar to his mother in many ways..... She tends to favour him over Ranjavi
I disagree with what you said about Sumitra. She is not a bad character and yes she did try to help Laali, but there were times when she would not support Laali at all. She would pick and choose her support for Laali and did not give Laali any support in times when she really needed it.
What I do not like about is that even when Laali did not do anything she still blamed Laali and did not support her...for example the wedding night with Ranjavi etc...etc.
But I do agree that Sumitra did every once in awhile support Laali so she is okay in that aspect.
