You might have noticed that Shekhar and Lali are named after the hero and heroine (Shekhar and Lalita) of the famous novel Parineeta

yes, same one on which saif and vidya balan's movie parineeta is based. Original novel is by Sharat Chandra Chatterjee and has the same names. Shekhar and Lalita are often quoted in literature like Laila majnu.
